NFL - The Thread, '08.

Just out of sheer curiosity: when is this NFL thing going to stop? This thing has been going on for ages. Isn't it like a season thing? Shouldn't it stop after a couple of weeks or is this a never-ending battle to be the best?

Seriously: I'm just curious.

I have not watched the 2nd half of the Seattle Arizona game... Something tells me, I don't want to watch it...

Edit: *sigh* :|

Interesting fact about 2008 sports for Seattle. Mariners baseball lost the most games in baseball history. Washington Huskies collage football has not won a game and Cougars collage football, not much better. Super Sonics (pro basketball) deserted Seattle for Oklahoma... The ever popular local woman's basketball team the Gonzaga Bulldogs might want to hide this season?

New York fans are bad too, but don't have the inferiority complex that Boston fans do. New Jersey/Philly - just ugly, belligerent human beings.

That's exactly why New York fans are worse than Boston fans, though: they're absolutely confident that absolutely everyone should love New York.
Dude, they've already started with the Giants/Jets Superbowl talk too! I shit you not.

Giants, hell yeah, they outmuscled Baltimore's D yesterday in impressive fashion. Can't believe how the Giants totally transformed sometime mid-season last year into such a powerhouse team. And to think they're doing better this year without Strahan & Osi. Wow. Can't beleive Tiki left in such a rush and talked all that smack about them during and while he left - what a douchebag, can't take him anymore. You know, Tiki made himself look like an ass, and not to take anything away from Jacobs/Bradshaw/Ward but that is one nasty O-line they've had for some time now, maybe it's worth re-examining the position that Tiki was slagging everyone from - because they haven't missed him and his little fits of fumble-itis one bit. Good riddance Tiki, now get off my TV already you smug bastahd.

...Seriously Santana Moss should have been ejected from the game... What kind of idiot throws a left hook at another player let alone when that player is wearing a face mask... Seriously...

Giants continue to impress. They win without Tiki. They win without Shockey. They win without Strahan. They win without Umenyiora. Now, they win without Plaxico & Jacob. Coughlin is a hell of a coach, even though I do miss his old angry, red-faced, vein-popping alter-ego. I used to watch Giants games just to see him flip out.

How exposed were the Titans? They got manhandled by the Jets all around. You can wipe your ass with a 10 game winning streak, I'd rather my team peak at the end of the year - look at the Jets, Colts, Pats, Ravens. They're only starting to put it all together. And those are some veteran-laden teams that know how to handle the playoffs. You get a team in the playoffs that can shutdown the run like Jets w/Jenkins, Pats w/their front 7, Ravens D, and Titans are in big trouble.

And what the fuck is up with the officials this year?
I'm not going with the corruption angle, but attrcious incompetence, oh yeah. That Indy game was so bad last night, that even Madden, who's like the unofficial NFL spokesman was called them out straight up on 4 ridiculously bad calls last night. He even used the phrase "phantom call" at one point (fine pending). And all the calls went Indy's way hmmmm (not saying there's a conspiracy, but shit like this is fodder for the tin-foil hats). I really liked that last review with like a minute left where the ref even gave Payton the reach-around that was allowing the playclock to wind on Payton's snap (the play ended in bounds)!
I'm no fan of the Chargers or Norv Turner, the guy's not infallible, but I think we're watching the guy get flagged out of a carear here. I can't get that image of Jay Cutler doing his best Yepremian impersonation from week 2 out of my mind.
The refs are tanking it this year. Is there a rule that a ref has to be over 60? Fuckin Supreme Court is younger than an NFL officiating crew.

Man, you are the most quittingest fan I've ever seen, Twinks. The game's still on, y'know

Where the hell is the Pack secondary though?

Even though you are officially the worst fan ever, Twinks, I must say it is remarkable (and worrying) how Green Bay dropped from #2 DEF last year to #17 this season, without any obvious explanation for that drop apparent.

(other than "It's the NFL, baby!")

It's been injuries. Last year there were almost no injuries at all on the whole team except for the running backs. This year the defense has been shredded by injuries, starting in the pre-season. As soon as one player gets healthy, another player gets injured.

I knew they were in trouble when Cullen Jenkins went to IR. He's a guy who doesn't get much hype, but he was crucial to the defense because he could switch from tackle to end depending on the situation. That means it takes two players to replace one Jenkins. And then Nick Barnett got hurt too...

all of you shut up i hate you!

here's me being positive: that hit Jennings took was bad-fucking-ass! ryan grant is finally turning back on, which is good. that coupled with a young new QB making rookie mistakes that could be fixed a bit next year? we'll see. i don't get where the problems are really coming from this year. i mean, it's not just the injuries. Barnett had been kinda blowing it this year too.

Hey, the Packers can still get in the playoffs if they finish 4-0.

I probably won't pay attention for the rest of the season unless they win their next three games and can get in by beating 0-15 Detroit in the last game.

Go Jets!
