Boy oh boy this certainly won't piss anyone off.
It's not like the Russians and French death tolls were amongst the highest or anything...
Battlefront and Need for Speed spring to mind.Im out of the loop when it comes to the triple a market but yhe latest failures haven't been EA have they? Asd creed is ubisoft. Mankind divided is square enix. Batman was warner bros. What fuck up has EA released lately?
Paid mods., unless you're including that under the umbrella of 'stuff like that'.Has Valve ever fucked up? I know people bitch about their practises, what with Steam, TF2 hats, Half Life 3 and stuff like that, but has there ever been a big Valve cock-up?
you should know how much backlash left 4 dead 2 got at releaseHas Valve ever fucked up? I know people bitch about their practises, what with Steam, TF2 hats, Half Life 3 and stuff like that, but has there ever been a big Valve cock-up?

Theyve opened the floodgates for far too many games to be released on steam to the point that quality content gets buried behind all the trash. Steam Greenlight and Early Access seemed like good ideas that were exploited like crazy and now you have to wade through a sea of shit in the hopes of finding a copper nugget.Has Valve ever fucked up? Some good has come from it though. I was just gonna post a screencap of it.Some good has come from it though. There are quite a few diamonds in the rough.
Also, NMS is now "Mostly Negative" at 39% positive steam reviews and yet it still costs $60 and lists all those ridiculous awards and has the E3 trailers and fake screenshots lol.
LOL yea Steam is still recommending me to buy No Man's Sky :0The whole "recommended for you" thing is fucking bullshit as well. I understand that they have to use an algorithm for users to suggest things based on their library but the amount of garbage that has been recommended to me that is not alike 'any' games in my list is absurd. It's like it suggests shit because it 'has to' and not because there are actually new titles that fit my algorithm.

Anyway, yeah some good stuff has come from it but I still don't like the way it is flooding with crap. Steam needs to revamp their entire frontpage and category system so that it is easier to keep track on the kind of genres you are interested in and the ones you aren't. The tag system is also shit. Some games that aren't RPG at all are being labelled as RPG's cause they include leveling up. Curators are also shit. RPG Watch ("Games that are fun to play: Old school classic, indie and top-rated RPGs") for example has Pyschonauts, To The Moon, Binding Of Isaac and Far Cry 4 listed as recommendations.
Steam has become a chore to go through to find titles worth a damn.
So yeah, some good stuff has come from it, but with the amount of trash that is filling it up day after day I feel like it isn't worth it. Steam needs to overhaul a lot of shit to accommodate for this floodwave but they've done nothing worth a damn. The tags are voted upon so they're prone to be misused by idiots that don't understand what should belong in what tag. Curators promote games that are not alike one another at all and so they're not trustworthy. And what else? The whole "recommended for you" thing is fucking bullshit as well. I understand that they have to use an algorithm for users to suggest things based on their library but the amount of garbage that has been recommended to me that is not alike 'any' games in my list is absurd. It's like it suggests shit because it 'has to' and not because there are actually new titles that fit my algorithm.
I just go through the weeds and pull them out and eventually I come across something interesting. Steam sales also help. I didn't know that the Obscure games had been released on Steam for example. I've always wanted to play them and now I can. It's extremely rare that I actually find a game through Steam itself. I check out games I hear about through other venues, such as these forums, or YouTube channels. There's just too much shit on Steam to sift through, and the recommendations seem equally based on what's selling best at the moment. There are however quite a lot of good YouTube channels for different genres, depending on what you're interested in of course. And I go mostly by Let's Plays, not reviews. If I watch someone play something and it looks fun, I'll check it out.
Boy ... if No Mans Sky was an EA game, people would have complained harder, while pre-ordering the sequel :/.Like I said, if this was an EA game people certainly would not be saying "Oh they just really wanted to make a great game and made mistakes and it's not their fault!"
They'll still pre-order the sequel.Boy ... if No Mans Sky was an EA game, people would have complained harder, while pre-ordering the sequel :/.
It's sad about its' very existence, can't blame it as that is one fucked up abomination. For some reason that creature makes me sad.
