Possible Interview with Chris Avellone

Double post, but slightly important, so who cares?
According to an email Millim received, Chris Avellone isn't available for contact until the 20th of June, after that we should be able to start organising this whole thing with him.
Anyway, we really should start making a formal list, so @Ragemage as the creator of this thread, you wanna choose which questions are asked? Or should we choose as a community?

I think at this point, since we need more questions for the interview, letting the community pick the questions would probably be the best idea. I'll need to go over my list again and the Codex interview with him though, we don't want repeat questions after all.

Jamie, hello - so while I usually prefer email questions (I'm hard of hearing), I understand you're doing a podcast, so we can figure this out.

I don't really have any taboo questions (although to head it off at the pass, I haven't played much Fallout 4 and if there's a certain subject I can't talk about, I'll just let you know - usually it's anything regarding Obsidian's internal workings b/c it's covered under NDA and also South Park for the same reason: NDA).

The 18th is actually fine with me as long as it takes place in the afternoon, Pacific Standard Time?

Not sure what time zone you're in, but let me know!

Chris

Alrighty folks, assuming the podcast crew can handle it, it seems as though this thing is happening. If everyone's happy with the questions then we can pass them on to the podcast people. If you want to be a part then go here and beg to AgentBJ09 for entry. Of course this still isn't concrete, but hopefully it'll happen soon.
:salute:
(EDIT: This reminds me of a potential question actually, are you involved in the production of 'This ain't Fallout XXX'? If not, would you like to be a fluffer?)
(EDIT 2: Fuck, sorry @The-Artist-64 I didn't see your questions until now, I'll add them to the list)

Go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go !!!!!:hatersgonnahate:

Considering we've had a lot of discussions about them recently I'd be interested to hear Avellone's thoughts on the Legion. Where did the original idea come from? What are his thoughts on them as a faction? Anything he specifically likes about how certain characters or ideas turned out? Anything he dislikes? Anything he would change? Would he be interested in expanding them? What was the considered fate of the Legion? Does Caesar die and the empire fall apart? Or were thoughts about the Legion's future a bit more complex?

Also, favourite character in Planescape Torment?

If it isn't too late, ask him if he's got any advice for NMA's own Fallout PnP RPG!
Yeah, that's on the list.
I'm kind of wondering how it'll work when/if he appears on the podcast, I imagine the others will have an ordinary talk with him, then ask him the questions (Questions are being held back till the next interview), then once he leaves get on with the regular podcast, but I'm not really sure.

Before I forgot again and since we haven't yet interview him, and since iirc it hasn't been asked,

"What else can you tell us about the new Prey you're working on with Arkane Studio? Also, have you played the original Prey game? What do you think of it, and what do you think of this whole 'rebooting' business? With the writers you're working with, do you think you guys can keep up the spirit of the original Prey?"

I haven't played the original Prey, and I never even knew there's that kind of game, but I'm sure somebody wanna know the answer to that question above.

Is it confirmed he's working on Prey? If it's true but still a rumor his hands might be tied by an NDA, if it's false he won't be able to answer the questions.
EDIT: Nevermind, I googled it. Cool, I'm slightly more excited to pick up Prey.

(Another slightly important double post.) The podcast has been postponed since shit fucked up and the 18th passed us by. It looks like the interview will occur on either the 24th of June, 29th of June or the 1st of July but it'll happen, of course technical difficulties could push this date back further but goddamn it, it will happen!

Since I want to stop this double posting, I advise anyone interested in the interview to watch this thread and this thread, first hand updates are actually being posted there.

Moar question!

"Have you tried playing Fallout 1.5: Resurrection mod for Fallout 2? If yes, and if you have the power, would you like to canonize the events happening there? Especially the
Rebirth movement of Ghouls
?"

@Black Angel
You do realise the Rebirth were heavily influenced by Reservation from Fallout Van Buren right?, you are literally asking him to canonize an adaptation of his own work.

Holy shit I didn't know that! Damn, this might get weird with the fanmade Van Buren then. Oh well, after reading up on what's available on the Reservation in the wikia, at least the concept of the Rebirth itself and the fact their Savior wasn't even a Ghoul in the first place was enough to separate the Rebirth from the Reservation, like how the Big MT was separated from the Boulder Dome. I don't see anything wrong with accepting them all, since they were well written.

Im wondering.. there is still any way to send to Chris questions or something?

I would love to ask about some developed desings, specially about Vault City and art direction... seems like even if the GECK was a really advanced "terraforming" machine, their art was really focused on a more manual civilization rebuilding... 4 example, lets take a look of the Vault city Structures, Mostly looks like a evolution of another low tier structure like the one seen on Shady sands...

4 me looks like Adobe structures, later improved with higher tech, some really close structures can be found named as "super adobe" structures, like this ones:

I would like to know if he have any information about those designs, and if in fact were developed with that concept on mind.

I'll vote for Cain. His side of the story, and legacy, is one I really want to probe.
Seconded. Cain's perspective on his idea of Fallout and what Fallout became would be interesting to hear. Sawyer could come later.

The only thing I can recall on Tim Cain's idea of Fallout is that the setting was meant to get worse (as in reconstruction would be even more difficult) and that's all I recall.

I know Tim wanted to go in space. But I'm interested in hearing what Troika had planned for Fallout. Whether they would finish Van Buren or start again.

We need to learn more from Tim Cain about the games that didn't happen. Like that one weird sci fi one that had to do with time travel and dinosaurs.
