RangerBoo Tortures Herself Playing The Frontier

Hehehe... Funny story about that. See, I was almost recruited to be a part of the Frontier team. I was given the honor of seeing the plot synopsis of the early draft of The Frontier. It was a verbatim, beat by beat to the point of plagiarism, copy of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. If you were wondering why the game feels like it was wanting to be Call of Duty that's because it was.

America was invaded by Russia after a false flag operation? Wow, that would be hard to do in Fallout.

But I completely believe you.

In the original draft they stole a lot of elements from Modern Warfare 2. The general was going to betray you in the end and he was going to kill one of your companions. Blackthorne was, more or less, a rip off of the general from Modern Warfare 2. Had the same character and everything. They at least changed that in the final draft but one can argue not for the better.

Ah, much easier to rip off.

But yes, I don't think you will hate this QUITE as much as Life is Strange but I don't think there's any game you could hate more than that game from what we know of you.

:)

I actually think that I will hate this more. At least with Life Is Strange it was its own unique thing that didn't disrespect or insult anyone. Did I dislike the game? Sure but it didn't disrespect or insult me. Here the devs of The Frontier they did. It wasn't just the bad writing or the sex fetishes that angered me, but the disrespect towards the factions, characters and lore of the OG Fallout's and New Vegas that pissed me off.
Complaining about it's somewhat silly attempts to be dark and edgy "You can enslave someone!" (like in Fallout 2 where you already could) feels like it misses the forest for the trees.
I think the main issues that people have with the enslavement of America, in contrast to Fallout 2 and Fallout 3, is that, as Jorge stated, felt very fetishized. In Fallout 2, and to give credit to Bethesda, Fallout 3 when you enslaved someone you were told that what you did is a bad thing and that you will face consequences for committing such a evil act. With America it felt very creepy. What you have is a barely legal girl who has severe mental health and abandonment issues and they presented how you enslaved her as very fetishized and sexual while in Fallout 2 and 3 it was presented as just business.

What I find creepy about America is that you don't really enslave her.
She puts the bomb collar on her own after you abuse her mental issues. Yeah, you lose Karma and Mormon Sisters hate you, but America herself loves serving her new "Master" as long as he doesn't leave her.

Whether it's Fallout 1, 2, 3, NV or Resurrection- none of the slaves enjoy their position.

That may be the case.

I do note the "collar wearing sex slave" is something that shows up way too much in video games both mainstream and otherwise, starting with the Paradise Falls companion, is in the Old Republic game of frigging Star Wars, and now is here. At least in the first two games, you can't actually sleep with the characters.'

So perhaps there is a good argument that this is someone's fetish porn.

Mind you, I didn't get entirely through this nonsense so I don't know if there's a nice, "Help America get some therapy and lead her to happy land" options of gaming.

Got done with Chapter 1. Had audio issues but thankfully I got that fixed so the next episode will finally have sound. Huzzah! This was bad. The devs just kept blowing their load and jerking themselves off with this first chapter. It only gets more down hill from here.

Wow, that was cheesy as fuck.

I wish I could hear the game, though. You should snark throughout it.

:)

I got the sound fixed so there will be sound in the next chapter. I am glad I got it fixed. Now everyone can listen to America and the sex lizards!
I am only going to get more snarky from here. Especially when I get to the Wolfenstein space station.

I am irritated that I suggested a Fallout 4 Moon Base for fighting the Enclave.

The thing was that mine was DELIBERATELY cheesy.

Battle at Helios made my eyes hurt with all the flashing lights, explosions and lasers. They definitely took the FLASHback too literally.

And the aftermath was hilarious with you killing all the wounded while laughing.

I am so cruel. Wish there was audio with that so everyone can hear the horrible dialogue. Every troupe you could have made with that scene DevilsWish did!

You know, seeing the Frontier again, I'm reminded of the cringe overly dramatized dialogue. The part with the NCR doctor lady explaining how great her father was is a great example. Like, she's not a necessarily bad actor, but there is something so forced in her voice. Her emotions seem too on-command if that makes sense. And the dialogue has a "and then my dog died of a broken heart" tone to it. It's as if she could give a better performance if it wasn't so... much.

And then there's actor's like the Legate guy who is just cheesy and lazy. lol. But then, he's told to be one dimensional so it's hard to blame him, I guess.

Part 2 of this shit show. This mod has constant stability issues. I only have one other mod installed and that is FOOK. I was able to get the bodies of the cardboard cutouts after the stream and am about to do the "Press F To Pay Respects" scene.

Oh, the dialogue is bad. Really, really fucking bad. DevilsWishs tried so hard to make this be a gritty war game like Spec Ops but uses every trope in order to weave a coherent story while stealing scenes from other media. I can't wait for the Legion questline where everyone tries to do their best Vulpes impersonation.

Part 3 of this train wreck. I will admit I did find some things that I did like. The exploration and story telling of the Federal Shelter building was actually pretty good. Good job to whoever wrote the lore for that place. It felt like it fitted into Fallout. The worldspace is also very nicely done too. It is a shame that all that work into the worldspace went into this. There was so much potential on the worldspace alone if they had some kind of consultant who knew the lore of Fallout very well and would have put a stop on their more bad ideas.

Like I said over VC, you would’ve been great as that consultant, but they likely would’ve kicked you off the team the first time you went “hey this is retarded”.

Honestly I am glad I turned them down all those years ago. As Zer0Wing told me, they would have kicked off the team the moment I opened my mouth and objected to the inane shit that they wanted to put in the mod.

I’ll never get over how @Señor Wally thought the torture scene was dark humor. Fucking LEGENDARY.
It was hilarious! I laughed out loud with that. They really blew their load with the melodrama. And they thought that scene was "emotional" and "dramatic" when I just felt second hand embarrassment over it.
