Russia attacks Ukraine

Not everyone is Han but most folks are Asian. China is not the hub of immigration like America is

Like this commercial would be acceptable in the U.S.

They didn't even know it was racist.

Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations posted this yesterday before deleting it couple minutes later.

That specter of nuclear armageddon hanging over all our heads means one thing folks. THE 80's ARE MAKING A COMEBACK!

I thought last decade brought the 80's back. Why dont we bring the 70's or the 90's back this decade?

Why? What's wrong with the 70's? Or how about let's bring back the 2000's
No dollars for gold conversion, oil price sucks, although the period was the last great optimism when it comes to retrofuturism movement.

Because it's the worst looking time period in history. Sandwiched between both the 60's and 80's. Cars, fashion and movies were all better both before and after the 70's. Maybe it's just me though.

Series of mysterious fires spreads across Russia.

Institute in Tver yesterday.

Couple hours later largest chemical plant in Russia burned down.

Currently another institute burns in Koralov.

All this happens while a huge part of the country deals with wildfires twice as big as last year.

Yeah, likely. Hairstyles were godawful in the 70's. The 70's were the freaking golden years for rock music though. Just so many good classic albums that came around during that time.

Disagree; Humankind has been on a downward spiral since before we were born... and it gets worse every month.
You're talking about the future. But honestly would you want to live in the past? I don't. Every time period was objectively worse compared to today. You just can't replace modern medicine. The further you go in the past the worse it becomes.

There can be improvements despite a social decline. There is a unusually apt quote from John Carmack that [when abridged] strangely fits the point pretty well:

"...anything an extremely clever graphics programmer can do at one point can be replicated by a merely competent programmer some number of years later."

I'd say that this principle applies to a great many disparate things in our societies; not just PC hardware designs.

People standing on the backs of giants, as was often said; only they are each getting shorter.

Well. I still like to live in this day and age then, I don't know the 50s or 60s for example. Do you forget how rigid society was back then? Half of the stuff that we enjoy today and take for granted would have cost you everything back then. Simply because it was socialy unaccaptable. So no. I am sorry. I respectfully but strongly disagree. Which doesn't mean that everything today is perfect or that things can not get worse in the future.
