Shamus Young "The Blistering Stupidity of Fallout 3"

You could find plenty, but people who love NV over FO3 cry about FO3 endlessly and nitpick nonstop. Fans of FO3 over NV don't do the same, which is obsess over a thing they dislike. The purist fans want any reason to complain, so they do.

Almost every criticism I read of Fallout 3 goes well above and beyond "nitpicking." Nitpicking would be if people said FO3 was shit because it didn't have iron sights and because it had goofy physics, not if they criticised things which are actually supposed to be critical parts of the game, such as its dialogue or storyline. Pointing out that the game's got more plot holes than the moon isn't a nitpick, same with criticising a game with such a serious tone for having dialogue that was clearly written by kids.

No, I do not evoke pettiness so that I can support my arguments and statements. Maybe "nitpicking" might be something you do on occasion, but I am not one of those people, and you provided nothing that tells anyone that I nitpick.
Come on man, I was giving you a friendly jab, people do these all the time.

Well, in that case, my mistake. I tend to take discussions seriously because of my experience on the internet. I have dealt with plenty of morons on YouTube last year (and on a toxic Halo forum), but then again, I have been on the internet for years, so I do not expect "friendly jabs".

If you are dealing with morons on Youtube you might be looking for rational discussions in the wrong place.

Of course not, I try to stay away from that side of YouTube, not wasting my time searching for "rational" discussions. And by "morons", I am referring to those who chose to throw childish ad hominems at me and insults at me because I made statements and posts that no one should be so offended to the point that they call me a "fucking idiot" just because I think adding Halo: Reach in The Master Chief Collection is idiotic and pointless. And this was a real story. Some idiot falsely implied that I thought "more content is bad" just because I opposed the idea of adding a game that has nothing in common with any of the games in the collection, even the developers had reasons why the game was not included. Seek that in for a moment in realize the absurdity at that logic, and this stupid argument went on for days. Adding Halo: Reach in TMCC is like adding a WW2 Call of Duty game on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Collection (which could happen). It just makes sense to just include games that are relevant to the title of the collection because that is how a *video game* collection works, for God's sake. Anyone with half-brain would know this. How can anyone not understand a concept so simple as this? Rare Replay contains 30 games, all of them developed by Rare (or Rareware), and there is not a single game in that package that Rare did not developed. This is just one example. I could give you the link to the argument, but we are getting off-topic here. Actually, this thread already seems to be derailed for days. Feel free to send me a PM if you want to discuss more about the argument. Also, Halo: Reach was just a giant middle finger to the lore of Halo almost like how Fallout 3 was middle finger to the first two games, all the more reason to just not have it in the collection.

I once had a dude in Facebook stalk me into other groups I was in because I said the WiiU was a dead machine....

Kind of offtopic but, Have you guys ever tried unlocking the locked Elevator in Benny's escape tunnel? It leads to a fully designed basement of Vault 21 with crates filled with explosives and shit. Wonder why they locked it out... Maybe they had a quest planned for it?

but of course, the door is there, and it is not "inaccessible", which means - somehow - I am going through it, legitimately or illegitimately. I'm not so honest that I will stare at a locked door, for playthrough after playthrough, while simply conceding to defeat "D:"

console, click door, unlock, explore, and yes, I too found the design to be peculiar, seems like a kind of metro station - yet not - dream-like... the rows of doors was strange, the whole layout of the room was odd.

The fact that they actually put stealable loot there says to me that players were meant to traverse the space, but for some reason it was cut. Maybe they wanted to introduce a whole chase-Benny-down portion of it?

The Kings jsut recently adopted the Greaser look, and it was because they settled shop on destroyed Freeside on the old Impersonator's school. So it's not quite the same at all.

In any case, if you are gonna harp on such a small detail I didn't ven make huge deal of as your sole argument then it's pretty obvious you Beth advocates are just grasping for straws.

It is hard/impossible to find a few jackets in a closed vault but it is perfectly fine to find an entire building filled with them out in the waste.. In the same area that had a crap load of "gangs" roaming for quite some time? Ohh lord.

Yeah, considering how the Mojave was spared much of the destruction caused by the Nukes, most gangs wouldn't give a shit about a bunch of Elvis costumes (most of the aren't even Leather Jackets) and a bunch of gel. Most people didn't even occupy Freeside regularly until the NCR started expanding and the Strip was re-built.

Wasn't this discussion already finished? Also, didn't you say you were done like three times already?

Actually no, I said I was done with talking to him.
But considering he was the one mostly discussing with you, saying you're done kinda sounds like it would end the discussion by default if there's no one to discuss with.

so I guess I fit in the "endless crying and nitpicking" category.
Well, you do nitpick a lot...

You're arguing over a non-issue considering you acknowledged you were incorrect. Thanks!

You have just lost your own credibility by resorting to generalization and making false claims. You are stating fans that prefer 3 over NV will not do the same, yet it is merely a baseless assumption because you provided nothing to support it. The "purist" dribble needs to come to a halt, because pointless labeling just leads to more nonsensical BS.

I would take NV over Fallout 3, any day of the week, so I guess I fit in the "endless crying and nitpicking" category.

I'm sorry but this is backed up by what, 6-7 years of seeing these discussions go on? I consistently see the purists mock/insult anyone who likes Fallout 3 (Walpknut did it himself, implying I am unintelligent because I like Fallout 3) but I never see it from the other direction.

In what way does simply liking NV over 3 make you that? I never said that. At all. I'm talking about the people who just bemoan Bethesda "ruining" the franchise and whining about it. I see it so often it makes my head hurt.

No, Implied you were unintelligent because your arguments made no sense at all.

Wrong and wrong, and please don't call anyone unintelligent when you spell so poorly in most of your posts. You're quite possibly the most abrasive person I've ever seen online, and that is only acceptable if you have some good arguments or intelligence to back it up. You have neither.

You should go post on the RPGCodex, people are much nicer there.

Well, you went for the typos. Well first of English is not my first language, I speak three languages and English is my second one. Also I type really fast because I like writting. So yeah, I mean talk about unintelligent arguments right there.

I think Shamus Young lost a bit of steam after the first one, there was so much he could've gone one but he kind of ended prematurely and abruptly. I really didn't read anything new, but I guess we have already dissected 3 enough here for there to be any new material to discuss other than the usual kid that registers to throw a fit in here over Fallout 3.
