The Art of Fallout 4 preview

At least their cobbled together junk version of Power Armor looks a bit more like a powered suit now instead of just being poorly made ugly plate armor with your joints all completely unprotected. The t51-b looks better still.
I think T-51b went through the conversion as well (as well as the new Enclave armour). I like that they decided to make it more mechanical and behave like a proper exo-skeleton. Although I'm not sure if it will look as good in engine, the most we saw of the armour is from the Wanderer trailer.

It might be a rare occurrence of them taking constructive criticism about Fallout 3 (or a hint from new vegas) and improving on something.

Might get this if the main plot of the game is interesting, or if they offer it at a reasonable price, say 29.99 or less.

You really think that 29.99 is a reasonable price for something that took years to be created by hundreds of experts and can entertain you for many many hours? Compare this to a visit at the cinema, where you pay the same price as long as you want to eat and drink something while watching. And the movie only plays for like 90 minutes... Even if you don't like the game itself you can still use the tools Bethesda delivers you to mod the shit out of it. I dont love Bethesdas games for what they are, but for their modabillity. I played 300 hours of Skyrim and I bet 250 hours were just tinkering with mods.

Yes.

Consumers can spend whatever price they want for a product if that's what the seller is selling it for.

Hell, by this time next year, they'll probably have a GOTY edition for the whole enchirito.

Are you lecturing someon for not wanting to spend 60 dollars on a game because they can mod it? Considering that the Mod Kits always take months after release to be available and the fact that mods themselves also take development time, Buying the game new at full price just to mod is kind of a bad use of your money.... youare better off buying it by the last quarter of next year if your interest is in the modding.

I guess pre-production and the concept phase is a very huge focus for the people at Bethesda. I have no clue how many inhouse concept artist they have though. They do use a lot of it for their promotion, like on E3 and Todd talking about their different variations of computer panels that someone designed for Fallout 4.

It is just a feeling, but I think Obsidian talked a lot more about their concepts and ideas with the story and writing, what makes their characters like Benny, different from Ceasar and House. I mean they used even concepts for New Vegas which go as far back as their old ideas from Van Buren.

I feel this shows the different approaches by the companies. One is focused around visuals while the other about writing. I feel Bethesda has a lot more people dedicated on presentation and nailing down the art of something - what ever if it fitts is another question, but there is no question about the quality in my opinion.

It's sad that Bethesda produces wonderful art that captures the feel of a post apocalyptic universe. Then they show their games....

Huh.

Looks like there's some actual weapon tiers now.

I guess they kind of have to since they got rid of weapon wear.

Pipe weapons should settle down the folks who were complaining that there weren't enough scrap weapons. (Don't know why that bothered people, Gun Runners and other organizations started up weapons manufacturing, it's not like Metro 2033 where they had limited resources)

Still kind of peeved the Ripper is a chainsaw instead of a vibroblade.

I'm glad weapon wear is gone, it's implemented terribly in almost all games its in. Shooting a gun 500 times isn't going to require replacement parts. Hitting things with a pipe won't cause the pipe to break that quickly, etc.
I agree. It is was an attempt at making the Repair Skill more useful, but repairing the same items over and over again was tedious and a waste of time.

29.99 is a more than reasonable price for an art book sold by a major company like Bethesda. Anything more and I'll say its them banking on the IP's name/image. (Why does modding so often get used an excuse for a sub-par game?)

To be fair, as much as Bethesda screws stuff up, they do often have a few improvements. Still like finding Gems in a bullpuckey pile though.

Agreed, the GECK for FO3 took forever to come out, same with New Vegas version. If you're just gonna buy a game to mod, either wait for it to drop in price drastically, or sign up for a site like GMG and use a voucher to save yourself some scratch.

What's with those weird Ripper Variants? They look pretty stupid and over designed. They are supposed to be repurposed Medical tools....
Is that what they are? Because you dont need transistors for a doctor to realize a circular saw is much better than a chain saw for....anything medical really.Either way, i always thought it was weird they only ever made daggers. You would think some crazy ass raider would go "I love axes...and I love chainsaws....what if I...." at some point.

The Ripper seemed to be used to treat soldiers wearing heavy armor as they could cut through metal and flesh with ease. They were done by the "Ripper Company" and that's why it was compact and not a huge ass chainsaw. In any case those shapes the ripper variants come in would basically not work at all.

Yeah, the Ripper was really more of a vibroblade instead of a chainsaw.

You'd swing once, blades would cut multiple times as you made contact.

It's why you treated it like a normal knife in 1,2 and Tactics.

Now it's just kind of "Hold still while I run at you with my arm outstretched!"

The most we saw was from that long previous gameplay demo, they fight a Deathclaw in it.
