Looks like it's about dragons. And Nords. After oblivion.

As a teaser trailer, it's pretty good. I wish they showed SOME ingame stuff. And I'm really really grateful it's not Fallout 4.

I really do hope the game will turn out better than Oblivion, I really do. A hell of a lot better, please.

Anyone know the team? Lead designer? I assume it's the same team as Oblivion.

I'd assume Todd is in the lead again. Hopefully they'll take some of the lessons on better quest design and stats system and less level scaling from Fallout 3 and improve on Oblivion.

I hope that the writing is decent, at least. Maybe Bethesda has learned some things from New Vegas? Eh, probably not. Probably they were developed at the same time anyway, so NV was too late to teach a valuable lesson.

Seeing as how most "mainstream gamers" preferred Oblivion to Morrowind / Daggerfall, I think it is safe to assume we'll never get a TES game that doesn't follow the TES IV model.

It seems like everything we love dies... like a rose withering away. Sigh, nothing stays beautiful forever, right?

Vault City does, but other than that........dunno. I will watch that loosely but I dont actualy expect anything good.

i want to know what game mechanics they are changing

lets be honest, oblivion sucked ass mechanics wise.

and the fucking mini-games.

If there's one thing that gives me hope, aside from the more interesting setting, it's that id Software might have some hand in helping the technology side of things. Probably not going to happen, but it would be nice to at least get a Bethesda game that's stable and free of obvious technical brokenness, even if it is still action schlock. I honestly wouldn't be too upset with a sandbox action-fantasy game, so long as it was well made and they didn't try to sell it as an RPG.
Thats exactly what will happen though

Thing is, that in some way I completely agree with you. I mean I played Mass Effect 2 recently (I bought 1 and 2 but 2 arrived faster got them pretty cheap though :D ) and I have to say its one of the better games I played this year. Definetly. I know people complain about it that its less RPG to say that Mass Effect is NO RPG in my eyes. But it doesnt hurt it to be honest ! Its a better game that way. Concentrating on the shooter part and making it "ok" was the best move. The characters are still "alright". Its all together a decent game and I would like that for the next Obli ... I mean Elder Scrolls game too. Instead of "trying" to make some RPG which Bethesda cant it would be better for them to concentrate on the mechanics and simply make the action not suck so much like in Oblivion. And as you said not selling it as RPG but simple Sandbox action game.

I'm gonna give my prognosis: they're going to tone down the RPG elements even more, remove some stats and skills, and basically turn it into an FPS (first person sword-fighting) game with an inventory system and a couple of stats, following the STALKER model.

I really doubt that they will get more shooty, because honestly they themselves should have recognized that they are unable (as most gamestudios seem to be) to implement nice shooter-like medieval games, most often the feeling of the weapons and so on sucks...

I mean they didn't even managed to add spears to Oblivion (as far as i remember they said it didn't feel right or something like that). Nor were they able to implement fighting from Horsebacks -_-

If they'd tried to make it more shootier i hope they spoke to the guys of TaleWorlds (you know the developers of Mount&Blade), who get this medieval fighting at least somewhat right.

I honestly hope the story is good, because I loved solstheim from bloodmoon and that's in skyrim as far as I know. I reckon they should do what they did with morrowind where you could join tribes and stuff, but if you joined as certain house/faction/tribe you couldn't go onto another one with opposing views. The only factions with quest-lines in oblivion were fighters guild, thieves guild, mages guild, dark brotherhood and knights of the nine, even the last one had to be paid for. I liked how Morrowind had 10+ factions with quest lines, it was very rewarding considering you got a mansion through the great house stories.

I hope the new Nords won't wear horned Helmets.

AND i hope you can meet the Greybeards, maybe even learn a bit of Thu'um. Nord lore is awesome and fascinating.

I like Nord lore as well, I hope the game includes werewolves, hircine the god of the hunt, the skaal tribe maybe even the little ice people, can't remember their names, huh....I wish bloodmoon was back, oh wait I can play it now!

I think it would be great if it included the East Empire Company as well, they were great, I loved their quest line so fun, yet so long ago...
