Cheap white cardboard and two stops of over-exposure go a long way in product photography. I threw it on top of a stack of IDPA targets in my garage. I appreciate the compliment, though.
I haven't played with the GSG 1911. However, I have owned a Ciener based, Kimber branded .22 1911. It was their first generation, and I was not impressed. It was too light, and the mags used a proprietary floor plate that precluded the use of a magwell. This iteration of the concept is much improved. It is as heavy as a conventional 1911, with the magazine and frame being weighted. It does require an allen wrench to take down, which I find tedious, but it is otherwise well-put together. If the GSG is of a similar design, I'd say go for it.
I've reached for the Scar 17 a couple of times, and then always put it back. Not that they aren't very nice rifles, but they lean a good bit more in the direction of front-line combat then hanging out in the back and calling shots. Which is not what I want to do with a .308, or I would run a FAL, a 91, a Scout M1a, or a shorty AR10.
