I stated before anything else, that I love guns and gun topics are a favourite of mine, too bad no one here knows even about the Dragunov, even military personell, and even if we fuckin manufacture the damn thing. I just thought that if you brought guns to such a stupid and ignorant crowd, then there will most definetly be hell to pay.

It's a fairly common varient of the AK-47, albiet a sniper styled model. real popular amongst collectors of soviet-style weapons here in the USA.

i wouldn't call it a variant. family: yes, variant: not really. the action is very different.

oh & most people that say own an Dragunov own a cheapass knockoff that doesn't even have the same action as the real deal.
 
What's so different about the action? Isn't it just the standard AK blowback gas operated action?

It's a short stroke action as opposed to the AK's long stroke.
 
easiest way to identify knockoffs is this: check the receiver (stocks, furniture, sights and flashhiders may vary)

nice but blatant knockoff (note that the receiver is a modded AK design, the magazine lies against the triggerguard):

a Dragunov is more a designated marksman support weapon than an actual sniper rifle. (but the difference is usually lost on people)

anyway, .50 cals are awesome & all, but incredibly expensive (both gun & ammo) and probably outlawed overhere anyway.

tbh, i'd gladly take an DSR-1 over a Barrett if i had to choose a sniperrifle.
 
The DSR-1 is a nice looking gun, I have never used one so my comments stop there about it.
