The Guns and Ammo Thread

In the UK you have to prove it was equal and resonalbe force.

As far as I know, this is pretty much a general rule regarding self defence, and of course, it has the exception of pardon if the responsive force was excessive, given certain situations.

Yes, you can definitely shoot the poor bastard or bastards, but, as a future attorney, I'd advise you to just get a better door. Shooting the bastard with three bullets, especially if you go to the range frequently and brag about all the guns you have, can get you in a lot of trouble.

Anyway, if the situation presents itself, my advice is to have a spare gun to plant, otherwise you're fucked.

Are there that many burglaries in Suburbia? Last I heard the thieves you guys run into are the ones you can't shoot : Identity Theft.

In the UK all firearm's apart from air rifles that are under 12ftlbs or air pistols that are under 6ftlbs that are legal to own you have to record the serial number for every firearm you own on the certificate and the police hold a copy of your certificate.

But if any cunt broke into my house and I saw a knife or a gun I would give one warning that I am armed before I shoot, if they don't run by then they are that stupid they deserved to be removed from the human race.

This is the Warning I would give,

"I am armed with (nearest firearm to hand) you have 30 seconds before I shoot !" I would then after 30 seconds go downstairs if they are still there.
"This is my final warning leave this property or I will use deadly force!" if they don't run then I would fire but if they tried to assault me or my family before I gave warning two or after I gave warning two they are asking to be slotted.

One really odd thing is that my opinion of weather I was right or wrong to use lethal force would be influenced by my military training, if I felt like I was in danger for my self or some one else's life it would be decided on my military experience rather than reasonable force in the UK courts.

No self defence laws for firearms in NZ, if you use one on someone you are screwed without lubrication.

Example.
A guy tried to rob a gun store (not for the first time) by going in during the middle of the day and threatening the owner with a machete, one of the staff in the store shot the guy. That staff member is now looking at prison time and never being able to hold a firearms licence again.

A northland farmer that shot someone who was shooting at him while they where robbing his farm got the same treatment.

Here in the USA, we can shoot any brown people we want.

It's only when you shoot whitey that you get into trouble...

---

For instance, we don't have the flight rule here. You can shoot people for trespassing or trying to carjack your vehicle.

No nonsense about equal or reasonable force. If you're on my property - I can shoot you.

So, is there anything wrong with shooting somebody who breaks into your home, tries to steal your car, or trespasses onto your private property?

Are laws the only thing that would slow you down or do you have a moral issue with shooting criminals?

If they are in your house slot the cunt if he don't run when you warn him you are armed.

Right get this today a friend of mine was at the range doing his proficiency test (required by all British army reserves yearly) 5 rounds into one mag his rifle stopped, when he cleared the chamber thinking it was a duff round and tried to fire again no discharge so he ejected the mag and the range sergeant striped the weapon the firing pin was broken. So he was handed another rife and went back to the test, anyway 8 rounds later the gun stopped firing, he cleared the round still no fire. so the sergeant come back over and striped the weapon again and the same problem the firing pin had broken. In both cases the top few millimetres had been broken off.

Odd problem or is it the curse of the SA80 strikes again? I think it's the curse again but I still think it's odd the same problem strikes two different weapons of the same type in one day to the same person don't you?

Well itsn't the G36 and it's a a British rifle... so I don't see anything odd about this

well Muff, not everything is always due to poor weapon design.

for instance there are people in Iraq reporting that the Minimi aka M249 SAW sucks. however, when doing some digging, you'll find out that the weapons in question are over ten year old and that the US Army never bought the required long time maintenance replacement parts from FN-H or FN-USA. is it any wonder that these weapons fail in rugged environments? hardly... is it the fault of the weapondesign and materials used? hardly...

You got to admit though that, two rifles spiting there dummies in the same way a bit of a coinsidance? Both rifle's in question are the supposedly Problem free A2, but I have a feeling that both where not older than 3years.

Took my new HBar to the range last weekend to sight it in for the first time.

After only 6 rounds had it dialed in for 100 yards. We then took it to the 300 yard range and set-up a golfball on a tee at 200 yards.

Punched that ball consistently - it was a frikken blast.

Alsoplusgood - having a 12 year old son to run out there and put the ball back on the tee...

ps - I lurve my new tack driver.

Check out a pic of it at asshats - it's about post #10 on this page of that thread;

That thread is full of pics of my collection and other asshats weapons.

Sorry - haven't found a method of posting pics from my computer here. I blame kharn for oppressing me...

What Dammitboy said, Switzerland has the highest level of ownership of some types of fire arms out side the USA and the have very little gun crime if any.

Any way back the topic, I am considering a new rifle, bolt action but I am unsure of what to buy I just want a general rifle good enough for some light hunting Fox, Roe deer ect, so it has to be over .243 cal and ok for a little target practice.
