Willis, if you were to try and build one of these, what would it run you in parts today?

Sten parts kit $300 or less.
SL-8 stock ? not sure Some are thrown away more or less, others think they are gold. $200

16" Sten Barrell $100
Muzzle Brake? Looks home made-

Ak trigger group $30 or so (really much less... I have a few for sale)

New receiver tube $80-100 depending.

Labor (from FFL) $200-300

I would say max $1000 to buy it from someone.

For every part you already have, subtract that from it.
Did not think of a quote for the scope.

I was just thinking... Want a 9mm bullpup.

Buy a Marlin Camp Carbine in 9mm and buy a Muzzlelite bullpup stock.

The marlin uses S&W59 series mags.

YOu could proably have a nice non folding bullpup made from a Kel-Tech folding carbine parts.
The hardest part would be adding a shell/stock and attaching the new grip.

The recoil tube on the kel-tech looks like it could be shortened by quite a bit if they were not trying to make it fold and for overall length requirements.

I want one Willis! I think it would have looked better black though personally.

Got a question for US gun owners. Do any of you have any experience with Kel-Tec PMR-30 and if yoy do, can you give me your impressions on it.

I have held one and liked the feel of it. I know two people that have them and love them. The guy who designed it is the same guy who designed the Grendel 30 shot .22 magnum.
I would like a PMR-30 but they are expensive right now.

I wish they made a concealed carry version with cleaner lines that holds 15 shots and a shorter barrel.

ok guys, here is what i need that i cannot find.

i need a link to a video of a gun firing in both bolt action and semi-automatic action.

its the Anschutz .22 LR Match Grade rifle.

it has the fully articulating bolt action with semi-automatic fire from the 10 round magazine.

i cant find videos anywhere of this gun. they either feature what appear to be partial bolts without the traditional handle on the side for using as a bolt action, or they lack the semi-automatic fire.

it was bought sometime between 1997-2001, and the US shooting/rifle/x-country-skiing team may have used them in the 2004 olympics.

**** EDIT ****

here is a picture of it with the magazine slightly pulled out

A Fortner action is a straight pull "bolt action", often used in biathlon.
It is however fully manually operated & cannot fire semiauto.

Example Anschütz 1827 Fortner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGx03PheuUw&t=3m25s
(note that she uses her thumb to go back into battery, not everyone does it that way)
The russians tend to use a tilt/lever based straight pull rather than this rifle. But I'm getting sidetracked.

I've never heard of an Anschutz as you describe it, that does both semi & bolt action fire. That said, any and all semi auto rifles that have a gas plug setting where they can cut off the gas (for use with rifle grenades for instance) essentially becomes a straight pull rifle. .22LRs don't have gas tubes though and are recoil operated, so that's something else entirely.

The one you posted a picture of looks like a generic bolt action to me. Are you sure that thing is semi too?

Anschutz is high class stuff. If you send them a mail with the serial number, they can dig up records for you. Also, isn't the top of the barrel marked with the model number & chambering?

The guy from Prexis is working on a convertible bolt action/semi auto 7.632x39. It uses AK mags. The receiver looks like it is based on a Moisin Nagant with a swing down lower made of aluminum that accepts the magazine. I have only seen pictures of the prototype in progress. No idea when or if he will get it working.

yes i am sure that thing is semi-automatic.

the last time i fired it, i did 10 rounds in 2.5 inch spread in under 3 seconds.

i am actually not sure what model it is, but its one of their match grade ones, it may have been a limited run or something or special specific order.

from what my dad explained it to me, it has both bolt action and semi-auto firing ability because different firing competitions use different guns, it was made with both firing ability to allow you to use the same gun in both a bolt action or semi-automatic competitions.

i cant find anything on the rifle that says its model number and the only things on the barrel is the serial number, the makers mark for anschutz made in germany, and the what is supposedly the "fire proof" which the marking does not follow as it has a double i or a double 1, which does not match what they have for their "year of manufacture".

or else this rifle is something like over 30 years old which i highly doubt.

Been out for work for a little while, and then wrapped up in some unsuccessful lobbying for some state issues that ate up my free time. This week is birthday week in the Ego household, with the wife's yesterday, the daughter's today, and the son's on Monday. It hasn't been easy to combine interests into very limited free time, but I've given it a noble effort.

Daughter tells me at 5:00 PM on Sunday: "I was supposed to get together with some other students and bake a carrot cake for World Geography & Culture tomorrow. We're having Mongolian Culture day." She can't afford to fail any assignments, so carrot cake it is. Somehow I never pictured Gengis Khan tucking into a slice of carrot cake after a tough day conquering the Asian steppes. It is less hard for me to envision a teacher who likes carrot cake.

The failed versions of daughter's birthday cake. Two attempts trying to dial in the recipe for the altitude (5000+ feet).

Success.

Wife's strawberry cake.

I am headed out again on Tuesday, but when next I find some time, I need to take some formal pictures of my Sig 220 Super Match with it's Osprey can. It's bonus season at work, and it's been a good year. I have neat things coming, some pretty quickly, some I won't likely see for a year. Any pictures I could post would be of other people's guns while mine are being built. I don't normally like doing that, but I may if I can't help myself.
