the ones you keep loaded are revolvers right?

or else what do you do about the issue of metal fatigue? replace the magazines every year or 2?

Doesn't work that way, buddy.

Springs do not tire out from being under tension. (well, a tiny bit, but it's fairly negligable)

Springs tire from cycling between uncompressed to compressed. So if you load up AR15 mags, and don't touch them for 20 years, chances are very good they'll function flawlessly when you use them.

There's both scientific evidence and practical evidence to support this.

PS: The worst thing you can do to a spring is overextend it to make it more springy. That doesn't work too well and it quickly kills the spring.

Unloading and reloading magazines wears them out much faster than just leaving them loaded. Additionally, re-chambering the same round over and over in this process is also bad because it seats the bullet deeper from constant re-chambering impacts to the round.

My bed stand pistol happens to be a S&W Chiefs Special in .38 special - which is a nickel plated small frame revolver. Reason being, if I'm waking up to an emergency situation, I don't want to deal with safety's or mags, mag releases, and whatnot. I can fire this revolver with a double-action pull of the trigger, or cock the hammer for single action function.

My glove box back-up is a Bond Derringer in 45 long colt / .410 gauge 3" shells. That's an over/under two shot pistol with a 3" barrel. I keep PDX1 .410 rounds in it. Inside the shell are 3 aspirin size copper wafers followed by eight BB's.

My regular carry is a para-ordnance P14-45 1911 variant semi-auto double stack pistol. It holds 14 rounds of .45 acp in a magazine. Two more mags are kept in my center console.

The Benelli M1 Super 90 behind the back seat hold eight rounds of 12 ga. 3" shells of single aught buck shot (4) and Hornady SST 300 grain slugs (4) alternating in the tube magazine.

I am curious about something though, really this isn't meant as anti gun or what ever, just curious about the mindset.

Do you have those many weapons in your car because you feel they are like additional safety or do you really feel very unwell without them?

Also, if you move with your car around, how do you deal with areas where for example guns aren't allowed in your car? As far as I know some parts of the US can be very strict here, not that I am an expert around gun laws in the US.

I don't consider a pistol, a back-up derringer, and a shotgun to be "many weapons" for starters and I have them for the same reason I have a fire extinguisher, a first aid kit, jumper cables, and a spare tire. In case of a situation that requires those tools.

I don't go to those states - my work keeps me in the free states.

someone did a pretty good job making a FO3 combat shotgun. Nice photoshop job.

I suppose you could make something pretty similar using a Saiga 12 gauge if so inclined.

Yeah I figured it was fake. The feeding system seems to not be even possible.

Its a WH40k gun but looks damn similar to a F1/2 SMG. (at least the NPC animation)

Actually, if it was a tube fed semi-auto shotgun, the feeding system is in the realm of the possible.

Is that real?

Fallout 1/2 combat shotgun was sexier.
The CAW(S) & the Pancor Jackhammer were real. Neither of these are something you can purchase however. They were prototypes made in very small numbers.

The Winchester City-Killer "Combat shotgun" wasn't based on anything real, as far as I know.

If you build it, they will drum.

Edit: I know about those RL shotguns. I just dint see how the tube feed and drum combo would work with the drum so far away from any of the mechanicals.

The Fallout 3 shotgun is just a tarded PPsh41. If you were really insane enough, you could make an action that works that way, but there is absolutely no benefit for it. It is downright retarded.

The most retarded weapon from Fallout 3 is still the Gaussrifle, hands down.
Based on a finnish anti-tank rifle with the magazine placed in the most stupid way possible where it blocks the bolt.
Now sure the gauss rifle does not need a bolt, but why keep the damn crank, then?
Also, wouldn't that be a nice home-defense weapon?

the lahti anti tank rifle. Those fins ... crazy people.

it actually looks more like something you would squeze in to the hands of some japanese anime mech.

O Canada!

That is not a warhammer gun. It is a 12 gauge saiga that was turned into a short barreled shotgun for a movie (Wesley snipes.. showtime IIRC)

Later a longer barrel was put on it and a stock was added and it appeared in the TV series Firefly as "Veera" the named gun owned by Jayne the Mercenary.

From what I can tell of it, that 12 gauge shotgun will still fire if the blank adaptor is unscrewed from the barrel (screws in like a choke to decrease the barrel diameter enough to increase pressure from the blank cartridge to cycle the action)

Next purchase planning...

a) Ruger 10/22 breakdown in black or mossy oak finish

b) Bushmaster 450/ Remington R15 450 bushmaster

b1) .223 upper for 450 Bushmaster

c) Sig Sauer 716 patrol in odg

Thoughts?
