The Guns and Ammo Thread

My thought would be that you might want to wait another few months for the prices to stabilize. ;)

Yeah, I'm planning on waiting til next month as prices have started to drop already. Still kinda crazy but getting better.

What's wrong with Mossy Oak Willis?

That's just purty!

I would leave it against a tree and couldnt find it.

I just found 5 Tokarev slides.

4 are cut for safeties that go through the slide (China Sports had these made) and one is a standard KSI Tokarev 213 slide with extractor.

I am taking them to the show and will be posting them.
I always wanted to do a longslide model... like something Arnold would have had in Red Heat had he not been using a .22.

Anyway no need for them (since I have spares for the tokarevs I have)

Went to a show over the weekend and had a table on sat and sun at a different show.

Sold quite a few AK parts. People were being totally outrageous... They wanted to haggle everything down no matter what it was.

I did find something I really liked though. A Steyr GB with 4 mags and the factory muzzle brake. $900 I may have to get it.

I know who made that... there are actually atleast two message boards devoted to making guns at home or designing and selling guns if you have an FFL/SOT. He is on them. That is a STEN that has been stuck into a left over HK SL-8 Stock.

Back to the show...

HK91+ 20 mags, folding stock and spare green stock set, two different bayonets $4500 yikes

Also... someone rebuilt a G43 into a sporter... i have to say it was the best condition G43 I have ever seen... but it was ruined.

CYBERPUNK WEAPONS FOR THE WIN! :D

also this was created from real weapons as well, another "franken gun"

Thompson MP and spas12(?) shootgun for the grenade luncher I think, but I could be wrong.

- looks like ... the gun used in the movie used a stockless Thompson M1A1 smg over a sawed-off stockless and gripless Remington M870 shotgun mated with a SPAS-12 forend and heat-shiel

The weapon used in Starship Troopers was if I remember correctly a working gun!

You are totally correct about the Aliens M41 pulse rifle.
THere have been at least two made for the USA civilian market from transferable SMGs.

One was built on a thompson, the other was built from a MAC-10 that is hidden by a outer shell.

IIRC the starship troopers guns were Full Auto Mini-14s in clamshells... and were allegedly the same guns that were used in THe A-Team.

Edit... yeah I was right.. they are Mini-14s in modified muzzlelite stocks. They probably have really long barrel extensions screwed on in place of the flash hiders

link?

The first of my stens is almost done. Will have it soon. and will post pix

As a side note, I sold most of the Tokarev parts I wanted to get rid of. 4 stipped slides ($30ea), and 5x 7.62x25 magazines at $25 each. Till have 7 of the Chinese 9mm model 213 tokarev magazines.

This frankengun cost its builder just $100 in parts. The stock is part steel and part polymer from a H&K SL8 rifle, the recoil spring is from an FAL, the bolt and barrel are from a Sten submachine gun.
That is actually pretty nifty looking. What are the odds that someone with no experience like myself could put together a weapon like that without it blowing up in my face?

Without any sarcasm, 2 questions;
-Are you serious? (As you come off as completely foreign to modern weaponry)
-Where/ Which country are you living in? US? Eu?

Assuming you're talking onto me:

1) Yes, I'm serious. I don't know what goes into making those mismatched parts go together, hence the question. The part about it blowing up in my face was a bit of hyperbole.

2) When my location says "Necropolis", it means Necropolis. As in, the one from Fallout (minus the ghoulies... unless you count some of the tweakers I've seen). In other words, U.S.

for making that sten,
All the functioning parts are matched (so to speak).

He is using a sten tube, sten bolt, sten barrel and sten trunnion.
The sten is a blowback (no locking mechanism).

The rest of the parts are cosmetic (more or less) and dont have anything to do with it blowing up.

As for building this yourself- you could do it with a lathe, drill press, welder (Mig), taps, threading dies etc. Or you could do it entirely by hand with hand files, a tap/die and a drill.

I would not recomend doing it unless you were experienced with tools.

I could probably build a sten, but I dont do it because it is hard to sell a gun that was not made with by a licensed FFL07 manufacturer. Yes it is legal to make a gun yourself and eventually sell it, but you have to prove that was not your intention from the beginning.

Kyuu;
Ah, a Californian. That explains it. My condolences.

Basing on your comment on no experience, I would suggest starting with researching AR-15 platform and local (at least near) gunshops, gunsmiths and firing ranges. Your first step should be finding someone or someones that you can speak face to face and guide you through the newbie mistakes.

Then you can probably diving into this realm by starting on some of the iconic guns.
Certain firearms (AR15, ruger 10/22, 1911 to begin with) rival personal computers in the amount of customization and standardization.

If you have CnC or additive manufacture experience / capability that will also open up a whole new set of possibilities. To start with you can buy an 80%er (the lower is the part that is considered the firearm.A blank piece of (generally) aluminium machined 80% to become a lower is not considered a gun. 81% machined, it is a gun and can't be sold/transferred without a registration; 80% machined, it isn't a gun and can be bought/sold w/o hassle) and run it trough a lathe to craft yourself a lower that can be used with stock AR-15 parts.

As far as I'm aware, it is legal for even a Californian to build a gun for his/her own use but the gun must comply with the local thorntangle of firearms laws (length, stock options, accessories and so on). the registration is only needed if you want to transfer/sell the gun to someone else.

But please be aware that I'm not a lawyer and my advice is not a legal advice/council. You must check the local laws to find out the additional hoops. I would suggest checking with the local NRA guys (preferably at a gun range while plinking) to start with

Mis matched parts are not such a big deal with a blowback like the sten. It is really hard to get the headspace off on something like that.

Now with an AK from scratch, you can easily blow it up if you mess up the head space.

As was said above, you can buy already headspaced AR 15 uppers and if you can follow a video on the internet, you can assemble a stripped lower receiver.

The problem doing that right now is that everyone out there is buying anything they can get their hands on and for inflated prices...
