Who made the one at your gunshop... not all FALs are created equal. Even if the FAL was built with nice Austrian or German parts, if the usa maker sucks i.e. Century arms or if they used a Hesse, vulcan or whatever that crap company calls itself now receiver, the FAL is not worth owning (unless for parts)

The best versions of the FAL available are the DSA or Enterprise versions, preferably with an Imbel brazilian receiver. They range from $1100 to $1800 right now. Up to $3500 for rarer versions.

Century and Hesse suffer from perception problems from past mistakes and the occasional lemon these days. You can find decent versions from those companies, but you have to know what you are looking at. They run around $700-$900 thses days.

Usually metric versions of the FAL are better made, and reassembled properly.

Avoid Williams Arms FAL's as they have been known to blow up.

Went and bought a .45 caliber lever action saddle rifle instead of a carbine for shits and giggles. Also, too busy for regular thread updates. As usual. Most inactive, non- active, active person on NMA.

One of my favorite lever actions is this Puma Legacy in .454 casull
