The Mass' Effect on gaming or HOT ALIEN LESBOZ SEKS!

To me, it is obvious that our Final Victory is inevitable. Our Glorious Truth will prevail and their pathetic lies will be defeated.
Times will come, when true RPGs will return.

If I become a dictator, I would appreciate it if you would become my propaganda advisor...

Wow is it just me or did that alien chick's eyes get really freaking scary in that video?

ME is the same type of RPG as KOTOR, only better. There' are things I don't like but overall I like it a lot.

I was worried about the cinematic approach. It doesn't make you feel like anything is happening to you, more like you're watching somebody. That's something I hated about KOTOR but I have to say I do like it in this game. It still has that effect but it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe it has to do with Shepard's facial expressions and voice acting.

PS!
Did anyone who played the game get a familiar feeling on Feros?? Anyone else notice the combination of the setting and especially the music? Also, the girl working on the water pump sounds exactly like Tandi, could it be the same actress?

I haven't tried it yet, but I do think Mass Effect will still be a decent game for me despite all the things in it that I don't like. Bioware constantly annoy me with their design decisions and approaches, but they haven't released a RPG which I've flat out disliked yet. Even the much criticized Jade Empire I found to be a fairly fun experience.

If Mass Effect comes out on PC, I'll definetely give it a try.

On the other hand, I also think their games have been getting worse and worse with every release, so who knows... I suspect that Mass Effect will be a bit of an 'Oblivion' (though probably not on the same level) for me. Meaning, I actually enjoy the game on some level, but there are so many design decisions etc that are just there to appeal to mainstream audiences that it really drags down the experience for me, despite it not being what I consider a flat out bad game.

LOL

That would be funny if evertime I talked to someone dialogue options appeared.

ALERT! In the background of that video is scrawled graffiti and one part of that says "Keyser Soze" who is a member here. How did that get there?

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

The graphics are a lot better, and the combat is more involving but as a so called RPG KotOR is better.

At least in KotOR, the main story is integrated better with the side quests and not been ripped out and left on the side.

Mass Effect is quite fun, for a while, but in terms of RPGness it doesn't even come up to KotOR's standards.

Truth!

The sad thing is that the game really had the potential to be awesome. Instead of that we have a rather linear game, with a few attempts at choices and consequences but on the whole you have little to no influence on the main story. The NPC's are cool overall but your interaction with them in terms of dialogue is too limited. And yeah, dialogue is my main problem with the game : when I choose a dialogue option I ACTUALLY WANT MY CHARACTER TO SAY IT OR SOMETHING AT LEAST SIMILAR TO IT ! Why can't I be a complete asshole if I want to ? It's really annoying when you choose a rather rude or mean answer and your character ends up saying something else. As regards the combat, sometimes you really wish you could switch to a turn based system because your allies tend to be dumb and do not really apply your orders.

So, overall, I would say that it's a rather nice game but really flawed by dumb decisions. It had the potential to be awesome.

I don't know, I haven't played ME as both a good and a bad guy but ME seems about the same as KOTOR in RPGness only with better combat and levels. Apart from your companions' quests I don't remember many side quests being connected to the main story in KOTOR.

I guess KOTOR's main story depended on your actions more than ME's but it wasn't all that flexible either. The only thing that differed a lot in KOTOR was the ending but it pretty much depended on one event towards the end.

I'm talking about the game overall, however. KOTOR was so tedious that after playing it I had no desire to play it ever again. ME actually makes me want to replay it.

I'm not talking about directly linked into the main story, in KotOR you're not really dumped into the main story straight away. Even though you know that Malek is after Bastilla, and up to something in general, the fact she is with you for most of the game means there's no urgency. And since you don't know who might give you a clue to the Sith's plans you can feel justified in exploring and helping the little people while remaining in character. But in Mass Effect you have the main plot shoved up your... right away, there's no avoiding it and staying in character. If you know the galaxy is in peril are you really going to take time out to help an addict get a fix or survey mineral deposits? The only time you can justify searching uncharted worlds is when you are looking for Liara.

The icing on the cake was after I had left the Citadel for the final time, and was about to travel to the main story's point of no return. I'm a fugitive, on a stolen ship racing against time to beat Saren yet as soon as I go to the galaxy map I get a comm message from the Alliance to go rescue some hostages. Okay command might not of been up to date on my situation but would my character, good or bad really go off and make the detour? I don't think so.

I see your point. It is indeed ridiculous how you end up doing something relatively unimportant while on an important main mission like saving the galaxy. KOTOR seemed too tedious to me though so I didn't like it as much as most people did.

I hate to grave dig on this (well its only been rotting for about a month) but I just finished Mass Effect on Normal and holly Hanna! I knew this was the reason why I would get a 360 but did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did/am.

The "Hot lezbo secx" was a plus as well as bunking with the hot headed marine; but, the storyline and character interaction is was what interested and hooked me. I had not played a story driven game like that in some time. For me I had a similar gaming experience to that of Deus Ex and that tickles me a bit. It's been a long while since I've played something I enjoyed that much and on a console no less.

Despite what many say, I truly think the folks at Bioware are still pushing the limit even after all these years. I remember the good ol days in the early 90's when Shattered Steel was out. Even then, Bioware was bushing the envelope in many different directions. I do hope to see a Mass Effect II and hope its as good as the first.

Huh? Seriously? You're saying you liked it better because it had alien lesbian sex?
Or is it just worded wrong?

Like so many damn games these days, it's supposedly planned as a trilogy already.
Google told me.

I'm playing as Jack Bauer. It's great so far, but the framerate is pretty bad and textures aren't always loaded properly for some reasons. I dunno.

Yes indeed, I buy into sexually oriented material even in video games. I bought Kylie Minogue's Fever album for the picture art for god sakes (well, I liked the songs as well)! The concept of having sexual relations in a video game is both a very realistic and liberating experience to me. You may recall, our beloved game that this community centers itself around had sexually oriented material as well. Some may consider this the degradation of society but I clearly do not. It's a natural, beautiful thing, and I'm not ashamed of it (unlike most of the USA).

In the end, since the youth emulates what it sees in movies and video games... I'm afraid we will have more teen pregnancies than ever before because of Mass Effect.

I had the same problem. I theorized that the 360 when at prime temperatures would ditch certain video processing in favor of performance. Not sure though, I assume this will be ported to the PC where we will not see those kinds of problems.

Am I the only person who cannot get past the second fight with Benezia with level 23 characters because the Bioware folks didn't include a turn based mode ? I mean seriously, this particular fight is really, REALLY retarded...or maybe I am.

Ehh, you know about the pause feature right? It allows you to pause the game during play, left top "LB" button. I used that PLENTY during that particular encounter. You can change weapons of you or your team, scope out the lay of the land.

During that particular battle I found getting between the pillar (one you see when you first enter the room) and lady Benezia worked quite well for me. I had Ash and the (freeloader girl) with me. They would pick at her while I carefully took out any other forces near by.

I at times had to use the sprint feature to run past Benezia to get at some of her henchmen. After they were dealt with, I moved onto her. Then you are faced with a difficult decision!
