The NCR Ending Is Canon

At lest according to Fallout 4 as Kellogg Cornflakes alludes that the NCR is expanding rapidly for him to be able to move across the country and many traders from out west make comments that hint that the "true ending" to Fallout New Vegas is the NCR's. So any of you guys that sided with the Legion, Mr. House or Yes Man Bethesda just gave the middle finger to you guys. Seems like Beth just can't help pissing people off.

Yes but I have a feeling that the only reason that Beth wanted the NCR ending to be canon is because they want Fallout 5 to have a war going on between the Brotherhood and NCR. I am sure that they are going over the cliff notes of Van Buren as we speak. I would rather if Beth just kept their Midas touch of crap away from the West Coast wasteland.

Didn't Kellogg move to the Commonwealth long before the events of New Vegas? And can you go into more detail about what these traders from the west say?

I don't think saying that the NCR is expanding rapidly is equal to the NCR ending being canon, they've been expanding quite alot before NV. Also Kellogg has been in the Commonwealth for quite some time, about 60 years. New Vegas only finished 6 years prior so Kellogg is probably using his pre-NV knowledge of the NCR.

"Expanding Rapidly" does not mean that they necessarily annexed Vegas, characters in New Vegas refer to to the Mojave and surrounding environs as particularly dangerous compared to elsewhere in the world, and even if they did add Vegas, it's going to be a slog through Legion territory. I would guess that if they were expanding it would be into Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and maybe the Dakotas. That Wyoming/Montana region is likely scarcely populated anyway since (at least in our world) those states were sparsely populated to begin with which is why all the ICBMs were kept there.

Regardless though, considering that Fallout 1&2 had potential outcomes that were eventually declared canon and others that were declared not, it's not like these games are obligated to respect your choice in New Vegas. The NCR is one of the four potential outcomes, so if they declare it's that, that's what it is. It's not what I would have preferred, but I won't say that it's not one of the likelier outcomes. I would say that the NCR outcome is the most likely since it gives a "good guys win" scenario without everything ending up too rosy, and the Legion ending is the least likely since it's a "bad guys win" scenario that would require followup. The second most likely outcome is probably Independent Vegas since it's the most empowering for the player, and House comes in third.

I think it was supposed to be talking about the NCR growing to annex places like the Boneyard, according to the radio. Seemed fairly early on in the history of the NCR.

First off, I'd like to see the actual dialogue.

Secondly, Kellogg is in the Commonwealth well before the events of New Vegas. He likely nabbed Shaun at around the time of Fallout 2, in which the NCR was rapidly expanding.

Bethesda is making a deliberate effort not to reference ANYTHING to do with New Vegas. They certainly wouldn't outline the canonical ending.

Did everyone just forget the last Bethesda Fallout game disregarded almost everything that happen in Fallout 1 and 2? This being a middle finger to many people is sensible because no one should have expected Bethesda to touch the lore of the West Coast Fallout games.

Yeah, the NCR memories were back in the past a bit. Kellogg was over 100 years old due to cybernetics.

Truth be told I did read this off the Wiki and word of mouth I have been hearing on other forums to those that are playing the game. But would this really surprise anyone if this ended up as the canon ending. Like I said I am sure Beth wants the next game to have a war between the NCR and Brotherhood.

Pay more attention to the memories.

The NCR expansionism mentioned in Kellogg's mind was from the Fallout 1-2 era, not the New Vegas era.
Pay more attention to what I just stated in my previous post.

I never implied NCR's expansion was from during the events during New Vegas, because obviously, that is not the case. My whole post was solely focusing on why Bethesda would just decide to consider anything in New Vegas canon when it is: A) Not their game. And B) Fallout 4 takes directly on the East Coast. If Bethesda have not canonized this ending yet, they should just leave the lore NV alone and let the people who actually developed the game decide on what is and what is not to be canon.

In an Obsidian Fallout, this NCR would be an extremely corrupt, inefficient, and militaristic fascist state that idolized Aaron Kimball as an Eternal Leader for his deed on wiping the savages and bring "democracy" to New Vegas. In a Bethesda game, this NCR would be the very force of democracy and freedom that will bring safety to the denizens of Wasteland, completely disregarding the obvious clues of what could happened if NCR take Hoover Dam.

Imagine if Tandy saw what happened.

Too bad she died of old age before she could realize what was once her peaceful home village, has now turned into a corrupt resurrection pre-war California's state government.
