The Outer Worlds information overload

You know what they say about assuming don't ya?
My assumption comes from educated guessing.

I get bored of open world games like that, I get bored of games that rely on repetitive minigames missions that have all types of different gameplay (like side missions in games like GTA, Saints Row, etc), specially if the game requires me to play some of those to advance the story/main quest (at some point).

I get bored playing GTA games, I get bored playing Saint Row games, I get bored playing Batman Arkham *insert something here* games. I pretty much get bored playing any type of game like that, and from what I saw, RDR games are of the same type as those other game series.

Not to mention that I play Mouse and keyboard, and those games usually play much better with a controller. But for example, when I tried Saints Row 4, I couldn't remap the keys on the controller and it was awful. I'm definitely not a controller type of player anymore.

The only thing RDR has over all the other games I already mentioned, is that the Wild West is way more appealing to me than modern/sci-fi/super hero's settings.

"It looks like a shooter so it has to work like a shooter."

Yeah, that's how these games always go down. As shooters with just a bit of RPG dribbled on top. As far as combat goes.

Too bad, as otherwise everything looks mostly fine.

Not only is it more appealing, it is practically untapped as far as games go. We still have not gotten a Deadlands RPG, but I am sure if we did it would be a FPS like this crap. It's why Outer World disappoints me actually. If it was isometric the game would almost be unique, but as it is I see a Bethesda clone. It could have been the Fallout/Arcanum of this generation...
:falloutonline:

I won't harp on Red Dead either since the new one looks inferior to the first and it is off topic, but a lot can be said for atmosphere and story my friend. Plus cheating at Poker is fun.

First wild west RPG that came to mind is Hard West. Haven't gotten around to playing it, though. More of a tactics game, I think.

Let me just rapid-fire all the reactions my brain had to that.

Very well.
Now I'm even more educated since I watched a lot of gameplay videos of RDR. It's boring as hell.

I was right, only the setting (wild west) appeals to me, I dont care for the characters, I don't care for the gameplay, I don't care for the side quests and I don't care for the story...

I will be playing games that don't bore me, thank you very much. Maybe I should continue my Fallout Tactics solo unarmed character run and see if I can finish the game this time. :lmao:

Rise I love you but I think you might have a mild form of mental retardation.

“Grrr, I hate content!”

I just picture rise yelling in their best Frankenstein voice "AAGGHH STUFF BAD" before walking through a wall and tossing a child into a pond.

First and only one that I know of. Unless you count JRPG's like Wild Arms. Problem with that one is it is linear as all hell. More of a tactical RPG really.

There's also Westerado: Double Barreled. Not exactly an RPG, but actually has more "choice and consequence" than most of them.
