The Outer Worlds information overload

It's on consoles and Windows 10.

We're only talking about PC when it comes to shitty EGS. Consoles don't factor into the equation.
And the only reason it's on Windows 10 Store is once again because Microsoft owns Obsidian now.

But it still is on Windows 10. Ergo, it is not an exclusive by any definition of the word.
I just don't see how this is such a big deal. It's just one more launcher.

PC Stores The Outer Worlds is releasing on in 2019: Epic Game Store, Windows 10 Store
PC Stores it's not releasing on in 2019: Steam, GoG, Origin, UPlay, OnePlay, Direct2Drive, GreenManGaming, Humble Store, et. al.

Sure seems like an exclusive to me.

So I have to go upgrade to Windows 10 to play the game not on EGS? No thanks. Sounds like a shit deal dude.

I only really buy things on Steam and GOG and why the hell would I want to switch services to a weaker service just to play something a year early?

I'll wait. I'm patient enough. I'll wait for a GOG release if I have to. I'd rather buy there than Steam.

God I fucking hate Fortnite for creating the shit that is Epic Games Store. That Fortnite money is a hell of a lure.

I honestly thought mainstream online gaming couldn't go worse after MOBA, but then battle royale appeared and with it Fortnite.

And that means I won't be getting The Outer Worlds then.

I wonder if the people that do buy the game on EGS produces a higher profit than if they had just gone the 30% route with Steam. Cause sure, they get to keep more of the money, but a lot of people don't want to use EGS after all the shady shit that's been happening.

I was mildly interested in the title but after this I feel fine with giving it a pass.

So now I have to make an account on the fortnite storefront. Fucking Epic twisting consumer's arms. As if platform exclusivity wasn't bad enough.

Wait only exclusive for a year? Well I guess I will just wait a year. I don't wanna touch the Fortnite store with a 5 foot pole. Sorry Obsidian.

Well, looks like I'm not buying The Outer Worlds then for a year. Damn Epic's forced exclusivity to force people to use their bloody platform and damn Fortnite for giving them the money to do this.

They did this with Exodus and now this. Now I have to wonder what other games would EGS hold hostage in order to force people to use their store...

If this Epic Store exclusivity becomes a trend and makes an actual dent in Steam's profits, it might be a positive thing in the long run.
Steam might change some of the conditions their store offers in favor of publishers/devs.

Meanwhile, GOG might profit too. If it manages to ride an eventual wave of anti-DRM sentiment after the shitstorm that Epic vs Steam causes, that is, and becomes a more viable alternative to those in eyes of publishers and gamers alike.

Of course, all of this is wildly optimistic and unlikely, but one can dream.

Looks like I will wait a year until I buy Outer Worlds on Steam or GOG. No biggie. Not selling my soul to Chinese spies and having Epic's malware on my computer.

Ok. A lot of EGS criticisms are completely valid- inconvenience, regional pricing, shadiness of timed exclusives. But the thing about them being chinese spies is bullshit. Tencent is a minority shareholder and is not spying on EGS users.

Wow... So you don't care that a corrupt corporate company and a oligarchy government spy on you and steals your info because you just want to get your hand on the next shiny object? What the fuck is wrong with you?

No, I'm saying that a lot of that is false and/or speculation and that Tencent isn't spying on you. Because they don't own Epic Games, which also isn't spying on you. Also, if you still use internet explorer then frankly you deserve to be spied on.
Oh and if they were spying on you, they wouldn't be so careless that some random asshole on the internet could figure it out because- and bear with me on this- they don't want to go to prison

It's a Chinese company, of course they are spying on you. I get it, your young but corporations from around the world do shady shit like this such as data mine your info.
Also, boy are people pissed at Obsidian right now. Hate to be their public relations guy. I mean, just look at that ratio: https://twitter.com/OuterWorlds/status/1108423193138618369

Epic Games, Inc. is an American video game and software development company based in Cary, North Carolina. The company was founded by Tim Sweeney as Potomac Computer Systems in 1991, originally located in his parents' house in Potomac, Maryland.
And a 3/2 ratio isn't that bad on Twitter.

I have to ask, are you only seeing what you want to see with regards to Epic and The Outer Worlds because a majority of people aren't happy. People dissing Obsidian are getting more likes then their posts and responses.
