The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

So I've finally seen the movie and I'm not exactly happy with it. Felt like really expensive fanfiction. The story and villains are just reskins of the original trilogy, the main characters are Mary Sues and it's generally just really flashy without much substance.
But it looked great, I really liked the downed Star Destroyer and the AT-AT hut.
They should have just made a movie out of the Thrawn Trilogy.

They should have, except that Mark Hammil, Carie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are probably too old for Thrawn.
and it's non-canon, Thrawn and the Chiss Empire never existed

The Chiss empire? And I thought I was bad at coming up with names....

It's kinda ironic that the Chiss have incredibly long and weird names (Thrawn is just his "core name", for example, his full name is Mitth'raw'nuruodo) :D
It's not "Chiss Empire", btw., but "Chiss Ascendancy".

Revenant has to be one of my favorite movies of the year along with Hateful Eight and Inside Out. I liked The Force Awakens too. After the Prequels I am perfectly content with a safe, fun movie that kids can look fondly back on just as we did the Prequels j/k.

On the subject of Star Wars, I sort of grew up with the prequels and as a result harbor a little bit of a bias towards defending them. That said, going back to watch them, I can see where the plot might be poor and the CGI a tad excessive.

I did end up watching the Original Trilogy after, though I remember not much of any of the six, so I walked into The Force Awakens without any idea what to compare it to. I guess that's why I enjoyed the movie in its entirety - I barely noticed the similarities with A New Hope. But again, now that I think about it, the plot does feels directly lifted. I guess.

Well, now with
weapons that can destroy entire star systems,
I am curious if Darth Vader still thinks that it's nothing to the Force.

I mean heh, it's quite funny how in recent movies, particuarly Sequels, and not just SW, everything gets cranked up to 11.

That whole superweapons thing was done in the EU, too, though. Superweapons galore...

Yep. If you go by the EU, some Sith users could destroy entire planets.

The EU already had the Suncrusher and the Galaxy Gun, it's going to be hard to top that shit.
Or the Centerpoint Station. Or the Planet Devestators. Or the Darksaber. Or or or...

Something that can controll the mind of every living beeing on a planet/solar system/galaxy done yet? You know, X-man style.
