The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

For all the suckage of the prequels, at least they tried telling their own story, they failed because of bad writting but at least they didn't just rehash the first 2 movies with worse pacing.
 
I for one don't think The Force Awakens was all that good, Just another action movie, doesn't live up to the saga.

Main issue for me?

I wanted to see a Sith Lord villain and instead they gave me an emo git
 
Watched TFA last night. In all honesty I couldn't help but love it, yes the story is very similar to the original, but I feel that it could morph into its own in he next two movies. PS I think Kylo Ren is too damn cool.

The new Star Wars was okay. It didn't feel very original but it was more watchable than the prequels at least. Rey was a boring character though.

Here's my predictions for the rest of the trilogy:
- Romantic subplot between Finn and Rey
- Rey will fall to the dark side
- Kylo Ren will return to the light side
- Rey is Luke's daughter
- Snoke had something to do with the Clone Wars
- Poe will die

That's actually one of the reasons I think she will, they didn't leave much room for her character to develop unless she does fall to the dark side and her power will make her a serious threat that the audience takes seriously when she does. I mean imagine if Luke had crossed over in Empire Strikes Back, sure the Rebels would lose a valuable asset but he's still some schmuck force noob who couldn't really pose a serious threat.

Plus there was just a fair amount of foreshadowing throughout the movie that she'll at least be tempted by the dark side.
 
I doubt they'll do something like that. Taking risks is the opposite of what the Force Awakens did, this new Trilogy seems to be build around being as safe as possible.

It would be extremly stupid if there wasn't more to her character though, following your describtion - I have yet to see the movie - but yeah. Just like you said, knowing JJ ... and his take on Star Trekk though, still hate what he made out of it. He is the kind of guy that plays save. I mean for fucks sake ... just look at wrath of Khan. However, there is hope that they have bigger plans with this, and possibily an explanation why Rey is so awesome in almost everything. Most people expect a kind of twist anyway, it would fitt in to the Empire Strikes back idea, like making her Lukes daughter or something like that or who knows maybe Darth Plaegius banged her grandmother or she's a clone from Master Snokums or what ever. We have to wait and see.
