The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

How cringy was watching superman not being able to kick some simple dudes ass with his super powers?

I actually find ignorance with no basis, knowledge or research to be much more cringy. :P

Oh and he shoots a kryptonite grenade in his face, which weakens him and gives Bats and his suit a fighting chance. Simple as that.

So I went to watch BvS. It had plenty of issues (just like Marvel's movies) but it was overall a good movie. It did a lot of things the Marvel universe is scared of doing, I would go into detail but those are spoilers. Batffleck is a better Batman than Christian Bale, he looks the part, is crazy and obssesive and he actually plans shit out. The movie did feel cramped because they wanted to set up the Justice League movies, not gonna go into detail again, but there is a whole sequence in the movie I would've made into a viral marketing campaign instead of a scene in the movie. The fight was good, Wonder Woman was cool in the fight (can't say much about her character as she was mostly a b-plot). Jesse Eisenberg performance as Lex Jr. kind of didn't connect, he had some good moments and the idea of this Luthor as someone driven mad by a revelation was interesting.... but the character more often than not comes off as clownish, too clownish for Lex Luthor, even if he is supposed to be his kid. Batman's night terrors I actually liked, made you wonder how much of what Batman saw all around him was real and what were just hallucinations.

The complaints I feel have been blown up out of proportion, some of the detractors even have some rather outright laughable rreasons that make me question their mental maturity (some even saying that they wanted to be Batman as children and crying about this Batman being too violent), the movie takes a lot from the Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come so it's obviously not gonna have the same tone as Marvel's action comedies, I didn't expect them to be like the MCU and I didn't want them to be like them. Some people are even complaining about things that are in shows like Arrow that they loved so much so yeah.... A lot of hate boners for Zack Snyder are pretty apparent too.

Again, the movie is not flawless by any stretch, but it sets up a good and interesting base for an alternative to the MCU movies, lets hope they don't puss out from the outcry.

Agreed with majority of the post. Movie had problems (mostly pacing and script wise) and I think studio cutting off the 30 minutes hurt a lot too, but it definitely didn't deserve the backlash. Jonah Hex? Catwman? Fantastic Four? Swamp Thing? Sure, those were actual pieces of shit that deserved every flak they got. But BvS?

IMHO (and now I am not talking about the actual legit issues of the movie, mind you) it seemed to be hated with such an extreme prejudice, simply because it dared to be a bit different in a time of Marvel formula conformity, especially after reading majority of the reviews that were complaining about BvS being "too dark", "joyless" and the tone overall which is pretty telling. Even before the movie came out, the internet was ripe with people who wanted to shoot it down before it even took off. Saying that you were looking forward to it earned you quick mockery by others.

Like I said before, it had pretty lot of issues but nowhere near whatever the critics are trying to portray and it's definitely not 29%. For me it was a solid 6,8/10, as a basis for future DCEU movies.

But yeah, I don't think they're pussing out just yet. Zack Snyder is still doing Justice League Part 1 and Batffleck signed up for a Batman solo movie sometime in 2018. He'll be directing too which excites me, since I loved The Town and Argo.

Oh, and Batman was of course the highlight of the movie, and even fanboys and critics alike agreed on that. Just saying, Crni. Ben delivered. :D

Now something a bit different: Has anyone seen the new Suicide Squad material? Gotta say, despite those retarded tattoos, the new Joker is kinda growing on me (reminds me a bit of the Grant Morrison and Scott Synder version as well). Jai Courtney also seems to have finally found a role for him, after being repeatedly miscast in leading roles.

How was superman not able to avoid the shot?
See, those are the questions you wouldn't ask if you actually saw the movie (or at least gave it the benefit of a doubt), instead of slamming the idea right away. Just saying. ;)

And Supes doesn't avoid the shot. He becomes a bit cocky and catches the projectile mid-air with one hand, but since he doesn't know that Batman is packing Kryptonite (and probably thinks it's just some weak ass grenade that can't hurt him anyway), it blows Kryptonite gas/dust into his face.

The way it happens is also a direct homage to the Dark Knight Returns comics(although that was an arrow). :)

Here's the scene:

I don't watch movies anymore. Well maybe one or two a year, but definitely not hollywood blockbusters and definitely not comic book based ones. The ones i saw left a very bad tasted in my mouth.

I was making fun of the whole prospect of one video i saw of the movie. Based on the whole premise of superman this is a silly movie to make, but you are right i have not seen it and my better judgment would be to not make comments about it.

Out of curiosity, what was the last comic book movie you saw? The one that left the said bad taste in your mouth.

Thor: The Dark World

These kinds of movies are of very low value to me, because i'd much rather spend my time for entertainment in gaming, as i get the same (or higher in case of Pillars Of Eternity, which i completed recently) plot value and i get the huge bonus of interactivity, and many hours of it.

The last movie/movies i enjoyed were Tarkovskys "Stalker", "Mirror" and "The Sacrifice".

The Survivalist [2015] - new Irish film about a lone man surviving as best he can after the world has gone to shit, more shit happens when two females rock up.

Threads [1984] - A very realistic look at what would happen in a large city before during and after a nuclear war.

Hell Comes to Frogtown [1988] - Roddy Piper classic, need I say more? OK, After apocalypse, females are in charge, they capture a strapping man and force him to copulate with other females to restock the planet with humans.

Watched Bullitt again for the 100th time, one of the greatest actors of all time and the movie I saw as a kid that started my life long love affair with the Mustang.

Movie thread revival

I just watched "Blue Crush 2" on late night tv, a direct-to-DVD adventure about a Californian girl who travels to South Africa to surf the big waves her surfer-mom didn't get to surf before she died surfing.

Oddly enough the actors do a decent enough job at acting incoherent, irresponsible, obnoxious and short-sighted, and throughout the movie I am perplexed at what the whole point is. The WHOLE of the point, like, why is this a movie? Who am I supposed to root for vs outright hate? When will recognizeable markers like "turning point" and such ever appear, this isn't a plot, it's just a list of various ideas

Well, I really don't want to spoil it for those who are just DYING to find out wether or not she manages to find and surf the legendary waves of her mothers dreams, you'll just have to see it for yourselves! Blue Crush 2!

I think around a few weeks after school had finally ended, my friend had invited me to see Central Intelligence.

It was hilarious. For a comedy, it was pretty good.

The jokes worked, the plot made sense, and no forced romance.

I liked it.

You should try to get your hands on the animated movie Les Maîtres du temps (lit. The Masters of Time, a.k.a. Time Masters, Az idő urai in Hungarian). I think you will enjoy it.

Thank you! I'm sucker for these old animated movies drawn by hand, never heard of this one.
(The one from Luc Besson won't be animated though, just inspired by comics setting and visuals.)

Well Jean Giraud was a great artist and illustrator during his time and he was also hired as concept artist for some sci fi movies, I think he did some stuff for Alien even.

I can recomend you a few hand drawn animated movies which you should check out. Most them are made for adults. But I watched most of them as a kid though >_>.
