The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

wow, never seen so much smoke/fog in a trailer/movie. Except for the fog maybe.

still neat. Pretty steampunkish.

Going to see Prometheus in 5 mins at the local theatre where you sit in first class aircraft seats and get served beer and dinner while you watch. My blood is turning to smoke I'm so excited!

That's an interesting observation.
I've never paid any attention whatsoever to the amount of smoke or fog shown on-screen.

I deliberately tried not to set my expectations high for this one, as I figured it would be a pointless rehash to cash in, but it just seemed like a pointless rehash to cash in.
in retrospect, I wish I had expected naked big titted lesbians.
I think it was better than that. But...

My reaction was one I've had several times over the past few years: I think I would have liked it more if it hadn't been part of a franchise series. In other words, I wish it had just been an original sci-fi movie of its own without the Alien tie-in. I thought the same thing about Batman Begins, for example, which l quite liked until Bruce Wayne became Batman.

I know everybody in the world probably already saw it, but avengers was pretty awesome

Yes it was. The Facebook game is pretty cool too even though I despise Facebook.

You're not the last one :). I'm hoping to get out to see it this weekend, if it's still in any theaters near me.

Spoilers!
I don't like to be force-fed dubbed movies so I'll wait for the home video release, as usual. September it is, then.

Over the weekend I saw Capote and Let the Right One In. Both were very good. LtROI makes all the current Hollywood McVampire franchises look really stupid.

I hope you saw the original Swedish version and not the remake.

yeah, did you see the original?

I thought the swedish one (brazilian, or whatever it was) was pretty cool, and I'm really not into vampire stuff.
I didn't see the remake, which I assume was crap.

if you're some vampire freak def see the original.

Surprisingly the remake was pretty decent. Not as good as the original, but a good movie in its own right.

Yes, the Swedish version, Låt den rätte komma in.

I purposely skipped the remake because I hadn't seen the original yet, but I'd be willing to see it now. Like .Pixote. says, I've heard it's actually not so bad.

Anyway, I'm not really into vampires, but it was a damn good movie. The best vampire flick I've seen since Shadow of the Vampire, at least.

[spoiler:6f4e32cc7b]I loved the part where the woman immolates in the hospital. That's how a bloodsucker should die![/spoiler:6f4e32cc7b]

The story goes beyond the the typical vampire bitey, bitey bullshit. Is the "girl" a victim or clever manipulator, is the boy a pawn, or a real love interest, its very ambiguous.

I am hoping to see Abe Lincon the Vampire hunter when it comes out, I know it's dodgy premise but I enjoyed a book in a similar vein called Pride Prejudice and Zombies.

I know it will be crap but I just like the idea.

Oh, hello there little spamer. Oh look he brought us free presents, can we keep him i promise i will feed him and bathe him and walk him, pleaaaaaaaase.

I'd say clever manipulator and pawn, respectively, and I actually don't think it's that ambiguous. But you want to sympathize with their relationship, which is the movie's evil genius. :D

After spending more than 2 hours watching Apocalypse Now Redux, I am still uncertain what I've seen and what kind of positive change is this from the original.
Several scenes definitely deserved to be included in the original cut, and it's a shame they hadn't been, but those scenes don't take more than 10 minutes of screen time, I wager, so I'm somewhat confused here.
The rest of additional material... I don't know, I felt as if it was a way to kill your own film a bit.

Saw "Looking for a friend for the end of the world" yesterday.

It was crap, really boring crap. I might have fallen asleep at some point.
