Oh well.
I watched recently -
expect some spoilers coming your way!
Godzilla (2014), it was not as bad as I thought, actually, it was pretty decent even for a monster movie. It had its typical holywood cliches, but overall, good old monster fighting. I just wish it had a bit more from that. I am not sure if I like the idea of the prehistoric origin, but oh well. The part that bothers me is the Monsters that fight with Godzilla. I get it. They feed of from radiation. No problem! That's why one of them used the nuclear plant in Japan to evolve. But the monster is doing nothing else then collecting Nuclear warheads? Which for some reason the US military wanted to use to destroy the creatures, despite the warnings of the Japanese/Asian scientist telling them, that it didnt worked really in the past. Oh yes! And it is not even like those nuclear wareheads have THAT much radiation inside them to begin with I mean not when you compare the other sources in the movie that those creatures seem to completely ignore for what ever reason. One of the two creatures starts inside a permanent repository that happens to be right next to Las Vegas, and it has nothing better to do then walking to San Francisco to build its nest there ... with the bomb the other creature stole on its way to meet it ... alright. Why not just stay where it was? With all that ... nuclear waste ... around it? Or walking to the next nuclear plant in Nevada. I mean I am bitching about the movie right now, but dont get wrong. I really liked it. The fighting was awesome. In my opinion. And that is what counts. But I just hate lazy science and plots. I mean yeah, big monsters, mountains of meat fighting each other, looking for physics here is maybe the wrong place. But how about logic? This "hur durr! IMA GENERAL! HAVE TO USE NUKES, NO MATTER THE COAST!" gets really really old ... seriously, give those military generals a bit more credit. Not all of them are like
Curtis E. LeMay. Though, I can still recomend it. Its definitely better then Emerichs Transexual Godzilla hunting fish ...
Edge of Tomorrow. A good mindless Science Fiction flick in my opinion. Very entertaining, if you dont exepct a plot that is going TO deep. I mean it is, after all a typical alien invasion movie and they dont go in to details why the aliens are here, and honestly. They dont have to. The fighting is good, the characters are alright, the story works well enough. And the best part? No romance. Seriously. That alone makes the movie awesome. There is this one scene, where I thought, oh god please no, dont do this, no no dont have sex now ... and! The female did the right thing - for an action flick, considering that she was a battle hardened soldier and the experience she had. So, no stupid forced romance plot.
Amazing Spider man 2. Garbage. Sorry! There is not much that I can say except that. Absolute garbage. Rushed. Forced emotional reactions, nonsensical plot-holes and boring acting. I didnt liked Amazing Spider man really much, but the second movie really is worse. Maybe its just my opinion no clue. And the issue isnt even that they do everything to set up a third and fourth movie even, but they had more or less 3 vilains in Amazing Spider 2. Electro, the Green Goblin (who was absolutely shit ...) and Rhino. I mean really? Was there a reason to throw the green goblin in this? He has literaly like a 30 sec. fight with Spiderman, and bam! Thats it! I can accept Robot-Rhino, considering how many "genetic" freaks they had so far they simply needed something else and I guess Doc Oc will be the vilain for the next movie or something, but at this point, James Franco did a MUCH better job then Dane DeHaan, even though Dane was the more convincing Harry Osborn from his looks, but since they had the Goblin appear literaly in more or less the ending of the movie there was no time for his arch to develope. Sure Harry and Peter have not seen each other for 8 years. Ok! They have been best friends! But give the audience time to actually SEE that hapen. All in all such a brainless action flick ... and Electro was really forgettable.
I watched again, the X-Files, the movie. Now I love the TV series, definitely one of the best of the 1990s, but Oh god. Maybe its because I was a kid back then, but I can not remember that the movie was THAT(!) bad, compared to the TV series at least. I mean lets be honest, the TV series really is full of plot holes and all that, but it has its own quality. But the movie? Most of the reactions dont make sense. Oh! We lost the trail of those white trucks. Hm? Where could they be! I know! Lets follow this highway! Ok, left or right? NAH! IM A DRIVE TROUGH THE BUSHES THERE! and suddenly white trucks on train appear and they find a secret base in the midle of nowhere ... wtf. And its not even like the plot in the movie was not already explored in some of the episodes already. Except that the way how Mulder and Scully follow the trails was done a lot better, in a way where it made more sense. The movie simply feels rushed.
