I never really expected Greece to repeat the triumph of 2004 but anyway. As DaVinci really couldn't have re-drawn Mona Lisa exactly the same, it's the same with Rehagel, he couldn't possibly bring forward the same masterpiece-team as in 2004.

That comparison would work if DaVinci was crippled and then attempted to re-draw Mona Lisa in crayon.

Because that's the relative quality difference we're talking about here. I don't like the usual "Greece was the worst winner ever" claptrap, but it makes quite a difference if you're strong as a team of individual losers or sucking at it, as they are now.

Don't be ridiculous. Turkey played with a lot of heart, but also with a lot of elbow grease. You'd have to be pretty blind not to see Turkey has been making the most and the most dirty fouls of all teams this tournament, from the assassination attempt on Nani to this deserved red card for Volkan.

Jesterka, I think you need to watch it again. There was no foul on Polak. True, he had his leg high, but he was clearly attempting to reach the ball. If you take it straight by the book, it was dangerous play and deserved a penalty, but only an asshole arbiter would've given a penalty there.

Fair call. Just like the stack of yellow cards on Turkey's side were well, well deserved.

Crazy game. Not pretty, but enjoyable, like most Turkey matches. They haven't a chance from here on out, tho', even if they manage to somehow field a full team between all their suspended players.

I only have 3 things to say about this game.

1st: Congratulations to the Switzerland team.

2nd: Scolari, I agree with your final declarations, you should never had used any player from the main team. Paulo Ferreira didn't get a red card because the referee is a moron.

3rd: Mr. Platini are you kidding me? Were the fuck did you found the referee Team? In a mentally challenged association? In a blind association? Or in a mentally challenged blind association? Even the worst Portuguese BWIN Liga referee Teams are better than this Austrian one...
