I think I remember you or someone on this forum complaining about Ten Napel last tournament as well, where he was almost having an orgasm every time either Messi or Zidane touched the ball.
Really, he's not that bad for normal games, but when he gets into this mode where he praises everything a certain player or team does (like praising a *failed pass* by Van Persie, for fuck's sake)he's annoying as fuck.

Why can't Motty just come comment every game for the NOS as well?

Robben was pretty invisible most of the game, except for his failing to score from a huge opportunity (which was also a good moment from Huntelaar).
Huntelaar was, well, Huntelaar. Bit of a target man, always going for goal, falling down just a bit too often. Still, good striker, but not near what Van the Man has shown the past 2 matches.

Absolutely brilliant goal by Van Persie, too, by the way. One of the best players on the field.

Bouma looked skittish, too. And yer, I'd like to see that line-up too. Heitinga's proven to be a very solid defender for Ajax the past year, and he was always fired up when Ajax's squad seemed to lack any and all conviction.

Good choice for captain, too.

He did better than he did against France, though, and he looked pretty decent in the second half (albeit a tad too slow every once in a while).

I missed much of the first half, so can't say much about that outside what I saw in the summaries.
 
i'm almost sure the Dutch wanted to let us win ... but the Romanian team stank they're balls shrunk from the pressure ... they were the definition of lame

after a while the Dutch must have just said - fuck it

here's hoping Holland wins this championship - they really deserve it and play beautiful football - i hope Italy doesnt come back with a vengeace

also go Turkey GO !
 
Ruskies pretty much took a shit on Sweden in the first half, even though Sweden began to retaliate a bit near half-time. Sweden was fucking terrible at first, I really hope they can get their shit together in second half. For a minute I thought Sweden was playing in some alternate dimension or something, with terrible mistakes and Russia seemingly just toying with us.

EDIT: Wow, Sweden setting a new record for suckage in this match. Much more likely that Russia would've made a few more goals than Sweden scoring, ugh. Grats to Russia though.
 
Absolutely brilliant match by the Russians. Sweden looked powerless, and the Russians had some sharp counter attacks.
 
Agreed. The Russians played brilliant. I don't know what the fuck was going on in the Swedish team. This was the worst match I've seen with Sweden, ever.

Should be a good match, Netherlands - Russia. Similar styles, pression-football, quick pace. Lots of goals, one would hope.

Man, the big European teams better be rushing for some of these players. Arshavin and Pogrebnyak (not in the EC) were obviously already targets, but Zhirkov, Pavluchenko, Semshov, Zurianov, even Semak? I'd be very surprised if they're not all moving abroad.
 
Some amazing recoveries these past few days. First, Turkey unexpectedly came through and now Russia. They really got their game together, haven't seen a performance like that from Russia in a very very long time. Looking forward to the quarter finals. Portugal vs Germany? That's going to be some game.

Haven't determined where I'll watch it yet, but it'll be fun to sing along to both national anthems.

I think commentators just get that way sometimes. They - not just Evert - tried doing it for Christiano Ronaldo, drooling whenever he touched the ball, until he sucked so bad they had to stop.

You should've heard the comments on the last French Open. I'm amazed Rafa managed to leave that tourno after having 500 gallons of spit slobbered all over him. But at least that's an individual sport, and at least Rafa really did pwn, I'm not sure why commentators feel the same is necessary for football.

Well i'm not saying they wanted to throw the match - its more like - the Romanians were offered a light version of the opposing team - with a lot ... A LOT ... of substitutes and a very safe and relaxed playing style. Neither the dutch offense or defense were risking or pushing it - they played great football no doubt but still ...

a motivated Romanian team should have bagged a better result given the circumstances - instead we had that ... anyway
