I am really not sure about that though ... the trailers ... they really don't seem special in anyway. I mean look at them. Just like most other generic Sfi-Fi action flicks that have been released in the past 20+ years. Bland. Boring. Uninspired. I am still going to watch it because honestly I thought Blade Runner 2 would be also boring and bland and I was really very surprised when I saw it in the theater. A great movie. I hope he can repeat that. But I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out shit.

There is something just off about Dune. Maybe we've just made up a more fantastical version in our heads (not helped by the stuff from the other director or artists since) or are just tired of white, brown, and black in everything. Why can't there be color?

From MattRhodesArt.

I don't think the book was so dour in description, either, right?

But the new movie just feels like...bland future military stuff. Is all. I'm sure it'll be at least a good film, not average but not great, but yea. Movies need a more expansive color palette.

Well to be fair Jodorowky was like nuts. I mean totally nuts. They made a documentary about him and he says stuff like he trained his son for years so he could actually play Paul. Like he really trained him like as how Paul would be trained or something. You know.

But I get what you're saying and I agree. It's what I mean with it by saying that it's looking bland and boring. It all just looks and feels so incredibly generic. Now I am not saying they should go all Jodorowky here. But com on. It's supposed to be what? 10.000 years in the future or something? Make it pop a bit. Take some inspiration from Jean Giraud aka Moebius.

I also fucking hate the way they made the Sand Worms look. Who ever made that design ... like what the hell was he/she/it drinking?

The art direction seems similar although more muted compared to what I imagined. Something along these lines is how I thought of Dune:

There was about as much color in my mind as there is in the Middle East. It's there but not that much. It is a bit samey as much of the other sci fi films out there, but I think I wont be looking at it that since it is being told in the Dune fashion and a lot of Sci Fi these days has taken from Dune anyways.
Should be fine.....

I've visited Istanbul and all these places here. It's Dune...ish. Kinda. Istanbul is way too water-filled to be duney enough. At least the first book.

Also, all Fallout FPS games should use Fallout 76's real-time vats targeting instead of traditional shooting mechanics.
Oh god, that made me nearly puke. If there's such an extremely bad use of VATS, it's Fallout 76's version (so much fun having your hit percentage change wildly because the enemy keeps moving around).

Really, VATS only worked in the first two games.

Arrival and blade runner 2049 are really good too.
No, they aren't.

I was more going for the idea of giving the combat entirely to the character instead of relying on player skill and reflexes. I'm not saying the 76 version is perfect, but I think it is necessary to align itself with the original Fallout games, combat-wise. Just an idea I had in my head.
