Update 1.3 Lies

I still remember after I first started up that game it would only stay in a small window in the top left corner of my monitor no matter what settings I chose. I had to follow some convoluted instructions just to get it fullscreen. I don't know how you can fuck up a PC port that bad that even Skyrim's screen options didn't give me that sort of crap. Can't forget all the times I crashed to desktop.
How about no adjustment sliders in the settings, not even brightness.

You could still fix any issue you have by closing down and never restarting the game ;)
I followed this fix you suggested here to the letter, worked wonders. Maybe it should be a sticky in troubleshooting as it is the only true way to fix FO4 :)
Just tried playing FO4 again since the new patch was released, but now it's worse than it was before.
tbh, all of Bethesda's games are like this, whenever they 'fix' something they end up creating more problems. They added a hard limit for memory usage in patch 1.9 for Skyrim which makes your game crash if it uses more the 3gb, removed the ability for npcs and the player to blink and broke lip sync. All to get it to run on playstation. I guess they never thought of having a version just for playstation and leaving the game the way it was for everyone else. "Here you go playstation guys, you can play now after a year, of and btw everyone else, we broke the game, but you have to update."

I've pretty much been going with the "don't restart" fix. Prior to today, I hadn't tried playing since 08Dec. Today, I spent more time watching the startup screens stutter than I did finding out the workstation inventory was broken. The game is too boring to suffer through a new game.

I didn't think they could turn Fallout 4 into such a popamole let alone a boring ass one. The weapons lack any diversity, too bad that each mod didn't have advantages and disadvantages instead of "grind materials and levels until you reach the prerequisites to make a slightly better mod".
Let's not forget the same enemies with no diversity and the same braindead AI from Skyrim, just backpedal and shoot until they fall over limply or pop your head in and out of cover while they usually stand in one spot out in the open or run around like chickens with their heads cut off.
I'm so surprised the enemies are even smart enough to figure out how to hold a gun let alone avoid accidently shooting themselves or their mates. Sorry for that, I had to let it out.

It doesn't have enough magic powuhs and Bethesda must of found inspiration from that news article about molerats which are so tough and strong that they can kill up to three million people each year.

Wait three million? You're joking right?

By the way... wanna a Baseball bat of Freezing? Got the enchantments shipped in from Skyrim...

It was a joke in reference to how many legendary enemies spawn plus the high damage output they have. The one shack/hut with stairs I went to had around four or five legendary molerats which was ridiculous, but hey why attempt to talk about realism and logic in a game with talking ghouls and super mutants.

As long as you can give me an enchantment of freezing with 50% damage.

And NMA is not always one of the most friendliest communities out there. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. But I doubt It's going to change any time soon. People simply get their alarm clocks ringing here, when someone sounds like he's defending Fallout 4 and Bethesda. Mostly, for good reasons. From 10 people doing it 9 turn out to be trolls that you see never again.

Well, if there was a serious missunderstanding goin on. Well than I apologize. And say, let us have a fresh start no?

Let us see how your next posts will be.
But then you have to wonder how many don't come back because they're treated like trolls (or when people start getting called a troll anyway) almost from the start even when they may not be?

Eh, I think this is still more or less a normal community. If a handfull of posts really stir you up that much ... than you are really a bit to sensitive. I mean it's not like we throw all the time shit at people.

At the end of the day, this is not unlike many of the other fan-forums out there. They tend to be a bit like remote villages, where you don't welcome every newcomer emidiately. Particularly the smaller they are, the harder is it to get accepted. It takes time and a bit effort.

It's not like NMA doesn't have a reputation. When coming here, people generally know what they're getting into and if not they'll learn soon enough.

Though I don't much condone flinging shit at fans for liking a game and nothing else, I'm not crazy for the general attitude of people who join up here in hopes of proving everyone wrong by simply stating their opinions with no supporting evidence, as if telling a community to stop whining makes them in any way superior. It's the sort of condescension colonists gave to tribals in possibly every scenario where two such groups have ever met.

The enemies are not smart enough, that is a feature in Fallout 4:
Perk: Ricochet
"What goes around comes around! Any enemy's ranged attacks will sometimes ricochet back and instantly kill them. The closer you are to death, the higher the chance."
:ugly:

Yeah I guess when people are online, they're generally quick to hostility. Not here, but on another forum I was labelled as a troll for bringing up a legitimate counterargument to the OP of a specific thread (it was a religious forum so I also got called a heretic, a blasphemer etc).

NMA isn't bad however. People here are very kind and actually willing to explain their views to others instead of immediately questioning their state of mind.

It's easy to accidentally label people as trolls over forums, one can't identify tone when communicating in text and so the way a message is received depends mostly on the mood/prejudices of the reader.

Anyone who finds this place too bitchy and elitist should spend some time over at the Codex for perspective.

Isn't NMA pretty much more lenient with new opinions and people now than when it first started? I wasn't there, so I can't tell.

There's still a lot of condescension towards people who don't like Fallout 1/2 but I guess that's to be expected from a fan forum made specifically for those 2 games.

Pretty understandable condescending, though, even if I don't approve. I wasn't a fan of the original Fallout from the beginning, but I know that for someone who was the process of Bethesda taking a series you enjoyed very much and crushing it into fine dust is probably upsetting.

But we're not here to bash on the original members of a site we are on, so let's go back to the original topics.

I'm seeing reports across the board (by which I mean Steam, several gaming forums, and Reddit) that the patch did fuck all as described in the changelog and actually made the game worse for the majority of the people. Is this Bethesda Game Studios' incompetence or the Bethesda Softworks' impatience making itself shown? I would go for the latter being more likely, and would honestly be surprised if the former was the case.

BGS has never been very good at patching, though I'm sure BS had some hand in releasing the buggy patch.
