What is your weather like?

No matter how long I live in Chicago and no matter how often the absurd temperature shifts occur, I am just amazed every time how drastic it is.

When I left for work today at around 4pm (I work evenings) it was a pretty comfortable 55F (13C) degrees. A light jacket felt like enough. The radio mentioned something about a temperature drop but I didn't pay too much attention. When I left my work at around 1am, I think I almost had a heart attack as I stepped outside the building. The temperature along with the wind was so frigid I honestly felt like I could easily die while just crossing the street to my car. When I later checked weather.com, it said the temperature was around -3F (-19C) but including the wind chill factor, it's around -25F (-32C). Christmas... on.. Pluto!

So I came to the sound decision to use the 5 days I have off next week to take a little trip down to Miami. I can't wait to get off the plane there and experince 80F (27C) while still in my winter coat.

It was -3 ~ -5 Celsius yesterday with a lot of snow and wind. Today it's +3 (at 7.00, and all the snow was gone) and peaked at about +4.
I am now assured every person who doesn't believe in the global warming is stupid.

This winter was the coldest winter in a lot of time on this side of the world... snowed even. And the last time that snowed on Buenos Aires was in 1918.

But now is summer, and in a normal sunny day the temperature rounds the 40C. And I hate it. A lot.

so today, it started at 8AM as warm, around 45 degrees, gloomy and grey, and rainy. Then at 10AM, it started to snow and was still around 35 degrees. Then at noon, it was sunny, not a cloud in the sky, and around 20 degrees.

How that works is beyond me.

Ice and snow in Washington state

So far this is the longest continuous cold spell the Puget sound lowlands have experienced. As many of you may know, the area generally is very humid and cool... not usually freezing like this and most certainly not for this long.

We are now at a little over a week of freezing weather and there appears to be no end in sight. On top of that, the next several days forecast snow, snow and more snow.

Gig Harbor police attempt to climb a icy hill, or at least chew up the ice.

Cars stretch for over 5 miles through the entire town. Out on the highway (SR16) traffic stretched considerably longer. Other Washingtonians further North past Seattle have been trapped in their cars for countless hours.
