What will be the canon ending of New Vegas?

After the COurrier is done with the conflict in the Mojave he travels to the Capital Wasteland, and, thanks to the fact that he has survival higher than 50 and a brain, he teaches the peopel of the wasteland that they don't need a fancy overcomplicated fish tank to purify water, and he just starts giving every single man, woamn and kid two glass pitchers and medical tubbing and teaches them hwo to ignite campfires, as a result of this the DC BOS turn into glorified cops.

Corrected for you... ;)

The Capital Wasteland BoS sadness me a lot, there was so much potential to make them very engaging, intelligent and turn the faction into a big player other than "that annoying faction", but they wasted the opportunity in favor of coolness.

Canon ending? Hmm....

The NCR probably wouldn't be able to hold Nevada...

The Legion wouldn't stand a chance at taking California.....

So I think overall, Mr. House or Independant....most likely Mr. House >.>

Won't be the NCR. Thier too luke warm for the wasteland, Legion would too wierd, most likely independent vegas. As far as fallout 4 I see it being a sequell to fallout tactics.

Legion? Hell no. We're talking about an organization that prides itself on not using technology. They'll do good enough in close quarters, but gun beats pneumatic fist 9 times out of 10.

Independent? Doubtful. Think how much crime there is with a tenuous law and order system under the NCR. Now remove the NCR from the region. Plus, they're gonna come back. They're not gonna say "oh well, courier got us, let's give up. Yes Man has a lot of robots. NCR has a lot of men and tech (pulse grenade spam anyone?)

House? Same as Independent, save for the fact that House doesn't care about the wastes. So really the viability all depends on how much NCR wants the strip.

NCR? Probably the best choice for the area, and still kind of a bad idea. Overly expansive, probably going to use Vegas as a staging ground to continue pushing the Legion back. While this is necessary because the Legion is both cartoonishly evil and makes my brain ow, taking more land gives them more land to defend and more infrastructure to not build (even though they should.)

All that said, my money is on NCR at least eventually getting Vegas in all the endings.

I'd give it to House or NCR for strictly metagame reasons... it's quite obvious that Bethesda/Obsidian think of the legion as a villain, an obstacle to be overcome rather than a fully developed faction in their own right. Were Caesar to win out, Fallout 4 (assuming it progressed the timeline) would, at best, be a completely different game. More likely, something would end up halting the legion from within or retarding its spread due to its weakness from overreaching, and FO4 would have as its backdrop a patchwork wasteland with retarded Rome-inspired gangs roaming aimlessly and in far greater numbers than my gag reflex could bear, much like the Super Muties in FO3 and late-stage FO2. Either that, or a situation much like that of F:NV, with the frontier vibe swapped out for the more civilized Californian wasteland but tensions still high, the NCR still over a barrel, and Caesar still poised to strike.

Of course, there's the unlikely option that the Legion wins out at the dam but they and the NCR end up facing off and canceling each other out further West... that would leave dispersed pockets of both, but the wasteland would be fragmented, catch-as-catch-can, much like FO1. I wouldn't mind that one bit, but I doubt it's what we'll get.

I cant believe how no one has talked about the courier. If the streets were in anarchy, the securitrons would kill everyone who did it. Then if someone stopped the securitrons, the courier would just go down there and kill them all. NCR is the main choice obviously because its the good ending. But then there is practically no way to further the plot in Nevada. I say Legion under the Legate is the best to futher the plot.

I don't think it's possible to call the NCR ending as the 'good' one or not, as every side had ulterior motives and the whole thing came off rather ambiguously to me.

Not sure about the Legate ending providing the best setting for future plots. The Legion would become a very dominant presence in the Mojave, absorbing most other factions, you would more or less be forced to side with or against them and nothing else, leaves few opportunities for roplepaying besides helping or opposing slavers, something that's been done in three separate games so far.

True enough, there isin't supposed to be a ''good'' ending theoretically. I don't think the end result is all that grey myself, but maybe that's pretty much the entire point.

The best ending would be Caesar's Legion defeating NCR at the dam, if only for making a better sequel.

Here's how it goes: the Legion crushes NCR at the dam and drives them across the Mojave, back to the Sierras and San Bernardino Mountains. NCR holds strong at the mountains, where the terrain favors them and where they are much closer to their core cities, supply lines, and troop reinforcements.

As Caesar advances he burns everything, destroying the Hoover Dam and every solar array in the desert, effectively choking out everything that makes New Vegas work.

Unable to break into the NCR homeland, the Legion army stagnates. After destroying the infrastructure, he also destroys his base of slave labor and new armies. Eventually, either the Legion begins to splinter. Caesar is murdered by a discontented officer, and the Legion soons spins apart and dies, but not before sacking New Reno and devastating some of the more remote NCR outposts such as Redding and Klamath.

This sets the stage perfecting for FO4, which would be more of a return to the more desparate Mad Max-style roots of the original Fallout. The NCR, focusing its military might internally, is more authoritarian but less expansionist. It loses control over more colonies further from Shady Sands.

The remnants of the Red Khans will still be alive in the PNW, as alluded to in the ending, and will make a play at returning south. There will be remnants of the Securitron army roaming the wastes (maybe led by an independent bot similar to Yes Man). The Followers of the Apocalypse will have a stronger presence in the former New Vegas area (now the Colorado River basin) as they absorbed the Kings remnants to begin relief efforts after the Legion disbanded.

TLDR: Legion kicks ass but falls apart. New Vegas is in ruins, NCR is smaller and crazier. Wastelands become wastes again, not the Disneyland wastes of New Vegas

Why would they do this? Even hardcore technophobic Legionaries aren't stupid enough to do this. First of all, I don't care how backwards the Legion is they're not going to give up all that electricity. Second of all, they know that when they destroy that dam, all that water in Lake Mead is gone. You don't want to destroy your only water source while on a campaign through the middle of the freaking desert.

Seriously, without Lake Mead the Legion army cannot advance to California and still be powerful enough to take it.

I would say letting a stranger wander into a massive technological bunker directly underneath your headquarters that you suspect contains a giant killer robot without even checking on his progress is pretty stupid. It's pretty clear that Caesar cares more about his beliefs than himself or his army, and would destroy himself to preserve them.

This also makes more sense if it happens after he realizes that there is no way he is going to take NCR, but before his troops turn on him. It's said throughout the game that the Legion is Caesar, and it would fall apart without him. I think it would probably fall apart if he stopped conquering territory as well, and he knows it. If he sees the writing on the wall that he's stretched too thin, he could sabotague everything, pare down to a smaller army that can survive on less, and pillage until his death, content that he returned the wastes to a more primal, unforgiving, and "strong" form.

I would say the independent new vegas ending as most characters and followers in the game push you towards that goal

House or Independent, as if Bethesda insists on going forward in the timeline, I fear the wasteland becoming too orderly. I think New Vegas is a good balance between civilization and chaos, and it should be more of the standard for that sort of thing if they do stick with their moving forward crap. Sure, Legion or NCR having a tight grip on territory and being civilized may not effect another part of the country (at least, for now), but I'd like another game set near what is more/less Fallout's hearth. Like a game in the Sonoran desert with a dwindled Legion.

With the theme of the game, I think the ending inclined to House's side. Independent, while made me felt good, more like a dream ending. But if its House's, the story make sense. He saved Las Vegas, rebuilt New Vegas, and ultimately outsmarted NCR and repelled Legion from Mojave.

However, maybe this gonna be another Vault City.

I hope not. I think the NCR should stop developing east and maybe expand upwards into Oregon

What is interesting to know is, why they even DO expand towards the east, or why the Legion expands towards the west. Just for the lulz/to crush the enemy? Isn't there a fuckload of space to settle down in the californian mainland or in the states Caesar has ?
