Wish List for Next fallout game

I want crafting to be better developed than in NV, and a revamped HC mode that is more thought out than in NV...ie, hunger and sleep actually become something to worry about.

I want unique weapons to stay, it gives you a reward for exploration--for going off the beaten path. Finally, I like the idea of playing as a ghoul, or even a super mutant. It could bring a new dimension to gameplay for sure.

Oh, one more thing: REAL decisions and I want Karma/speech/science to actually MATTER this time. Even FO2 could've done better in that regard.

Huh? I was constantly raped without a tagged speech skill in Fallout 2. Always got myself into a fight, never even managed to pass through the Oil Rig - reloaded an earlier save, and went on to complete some quests.

Science can also be quite useful - gives you lots of advantages (and rewards) in quests which require it (and there are quite a few). Sure, it's not really your best option in combat, but it matters a lot.

Hell, I'd even accept Bioware as a developer for the next game. I'd be fascinated to see how they'd render the Fallout version of a post apocalypse, and naturally all the conversations would look AMAZING!!!

That's sarcasm... right?

Yeah, after DA2 and ME3, my opinion of Bioware has dropped somewhat.
I blame EA for that.

Um.... no?

I mean I just don't understand on what basis that would HAVE to be a joke, or require sarcasm. I don't personally play all of Bioware's titles (in fact the last time I did was probably KOTOR), but I enjoy watching some videos of their games... and they're freaking amazing. I never got into the huge Mass Effect hype, but they LOOK like good games, which was the point I made in the first place. Their games are packed with eye candy, and the conversations with NPCs look like fully-rendered cinematics. What limited exposure I've had with their works also suggests that it's not empty visuals; the writing is great, too.

So, why would I have to be sarcastic when I say that if Bioware handled the next Fallout, that it would be WAY better than leaving it in Bethesda's hands, and that its visuals would end up being very, very polished?

Of COURSE I'd rather Obsidian handled it. I'd rather Bethesda didn't own the rights at all. I'd rather Obsidian could make their dream Fallout game, with their own engine- or one they'd choose to use -and their own timeframe to work with. But that's not what my point was. My point was I would prefer Bioware as a viable alternative, if Obsidian wasn't an option.... ANYTHING other than Bethesda, really.

You are forgetting 1 crucial detail: Bioware is owned by EA, meaning that if Bioware has the rights to Fallout, then so will EA.
Have you seen what EA did to Syndicate? It wasn't pretty.

If EA got a hold of Fallout, then we'll probably see something like Battlefield 2277, where you can play either has the ludicrously heroic BoS trying to protect the last puppy orphanage in the wasteland fighting against the Evil Enclave.
Because as everyone knows, subtlety doesn't sell.

There are much worse alternatives to Beth out there. Be grateful that Fallout fell in their hands and not someone else's.

This.

Fallout would be dead both in Bethesda's, and EA's hands. But at least Bethesda allowed Obsidian to make a Fallout. That's something EA would never even consider.

What I meant was I want science/speech to have much more drastic gameplay effects than merely access to different information. I want the main quest to drastically change depending on whether you do or don't have those skills. I'd alsso like dialoge to change much more.

OH, and I want FO2 style dialoge for low INT characters (<4). It was very fun to play a complete moron in FO2, and drastically effected gameplay.

Oh hell yes.
I missed the idiot dialogue in FO3 and FNV :(

Isn't that the purpose of speech, to get access to different information (and overall persuade NPCs to do various things for you, which were all included in Fallout 2)? I'd certainly say the dialogue changed quite a lot with a decent speech skill when I was playing for my second time.

But remember, even then the Speech skill was a gamebreaker, a skill you should always choose to complete more quests and do more things, and not have to worry about running low on ammo. If you increase it to the point you can steamroll through the game by saying nice things, what's the point of other skills? People will feel outplayed if they don't choose to level speech and realize they can't do shit in this game.

It's all about the correct balance.

They have all of these random baseballs and baseball bats around the game and in fallout new vegas they added loads of custom grenades, they should make it so that you can make a baseball into an explosive then use the bat to launch it.

Sorry, but that's a terrible idea. How would would you stop the ball from exploding after it gets hit by the bat? And why bother wasting time hitting it when you could just throw it.

In any other game I would be all for this idea...but not fallout.

The only REAL problem there is while a great swing WOULD send a baseball (or explosively charged baseball shell) way farther than you could EVER throw it, I can't imagine you'd be able to get such a swing all by yourself. If you were to toss it up into the air then swing at it, that would be a much weaker, less distance-clearing one-handed swing. It would still be funny, and the game would probably ignore that (just like hollywood and games ignore that hitting C4 doesn't do ANYTHING to it), but yeah, not a very practical idea. Maybe a great "unique" set of crafting recipes and weapon uses for a similar to "Wild Wasteland" Trait.

Oh... Dear... GOD.... That would be awesome! I always hated not being able to toss back grenades in every FPS I played after COD4, and I was ecstatic when that feature was included in Uncharted 2. But smacking them back with a baseball bat? That would be sweet.

I'm with Snap on this one, that is one of the coolest ideas I have EVER heard for a future fallout! *dreams of slamming grenades with baseball bats to send them sailing through the air, striking an enemy in the face, and then detonating*

Oh, killable children would be nice. Like in FO2.

1. Stay the fuck away from the West coast, it had potential but now it's established as shitty at best

2. Playable as a Ghoul ( Starter trait )

3. Remove the pointless Perks

4. Make SPECIAL count MATTER ffs.

5. increas drug rarity and increas the backlash for addictions.

6. Action RPG, NOT a shit-brown FPS with some redundant levelling bits

7. Fallout is a world of Grey shades, not Black and White. ( aka Bethesda's morality system is bullshit )

8. Handheld PipBoy ( 2000 Classic )

9. Don't find a contrived reason to saddle a character with Vault starter gear if he isn't a Vault Dweller.

10. Remove faction bias. ( Legion gets no love in NV )
