FFS that was just a display in horrible football from England. What is it with this WC?

Good thing I'm a cricket man, it's one of the few sports we don't suck at.

Another big mistake by a referee, maybe even deciding the game. thats just shameful shit..

Ghana vs Australia

Sorta sorry for the Aussies :/

Finding this thread by mistake, I have a truly existencial question for Sister Nun (or Sander).

Is that great oranje-pussy we've been gloryfying here in like 2006 or 2008 actually in South Africa? Czech media quite expectantly lost the clue about her and her etheric boobs. (I'd even say they "lost the clue" about the whole tournament, because only Slovakia's qualified. Kudos to Poland and their football-friendly channels! A few more matches and I'll speak Polish pretty fluently, ehehe.)

It was a hands ball that directly prevented a goal. That's a red card and a penalty every time.

Oranje was being glorified in 2006? In 2008 it was, but then they went out against Russia in the first knockout-game.
Bottom-line: winning is a lot more important than playing the beautiful game. And the Dutchies can certainly win their games, as shown by Oranje being the first team to qualify for the second round.

People have some absurd expectation that the Dutch team is going to play beautiful and amazing football, the same expectation people have of Brazil. That's not what those teams came to the World Cup to do, they came to win games whether it'll be beautiful or not. And if you look at the other favourites (Italy, Germany, Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain) , those all have struggled to win games - except for Argentina.

It's hard to play good football against a team that has all 10 of their outfield players defending. You need to show patience and positional discipline to beat them, and to not be caught out by a counter-attack. That's something the Dutch team certainly does well. That's not to say that there aren't some major areas for improvement. We still need more natural width, and our fullbacks Van der Wiel and Van Bronckhorst need to start attacking more. Van Bommel needs to use his attacking talents more as well. However, the defense has looked solid and the entire team is playing like a team, and not a collection of individuals.
Hopefully the return of Robben will stretch the field and add some creativity to the side.

Also, France is falling apart gloriously. Domenech should never have coached this team.

I'm not sure that's what he's talking about. But I have no idea what he is actually talking about.

Only if it was done on purpose, which wasn't the case. It's not only my opinion but also of some referees that were interviewed during/after the game

Purpose is rather hard to determine, but his arm was separate from his body and prevented the goal. I have no problem with that being a penalty and a red card.

Actually the rules state that it doesen't matter if it was or wasn't on purpose, as long as it was obstructing a goal ball it counts as a red card offence.

Kinda extreme. :V

Some beautiful football in Brazil vs Ivory Coast, and some ugly shit toward the end. Pretty obvious from footage that the second goal involved a hand ball, two nasty tackles should've resulted in cards, and Kaka shouldn't have gotten his second card, at least if it was given for Keita running into him and then grabbing his face. Nice goals anyway.

Kaka clearly elbowed Keita.

Of course not. Keita acted like he was hit on his face, while he was clearly hit in his chest.

Yeah, genius, the question is not where Kaka hit him, the question is did Kaka catch an incoming player with his elbow? Answer: yes he did.

Keita grabs his face because that what whiny football players do, but it's irrelevant to the card.

and yet he deserve a red card?

I don't think thats fair, really. It was not on intent, he was obviously distracted, it would be more fair to say that Keita caught Kaka's elbow.
