  • Just saw your Area 51 idea in the 'What Fallout was supposed to be' thread. If you ever get a year spanning wild hair and make that mod be sure to let us know. It sounds excellent, and frankly anything to explain some of the Wild Wasteland-style inclusions, before and after the Wild Wasteland solution was created, would be great.

Something else I wanted to do was bring Tibbet's facility back in a mod/fan DLC. The player would accidentally be caught by the computerized warden and would have to organize a prison break only to discover that letting the prisoners escape into the wasteland is not such a good idea as all are infected with Limit 115.
The player could work with the warden/ODYSSEUS, the prisoners, or work out a solution with both.

I'd have liked to see how that might have evolved. Tibbet's prison was in Arizona, I believe, so you're having fun times in legion territory. How the interactions between the Legion town heads nearby, and the warden could be interesting. Some people may even *want* to release Limit 115 prisoners to spawn unrest in the East. Fun times.

I really had this wish to bring back some of the locations planned for Van Buren. The player would go to Denver to seek the source of the plague, the Nursery to develop a cure, and BOMB001 when the player learns from the Warden that as part of a containment protocol it activated BOMB001 in order to sterilize the infected region.
At this point I wish I could say anything about Fallout 76 here or on the codex. But it is so soulless and a pure product.

You are talking to one of the biggest Metroid fans probably on this forum. I adore almost every game except the two first games (to old), Metroid Hunters, Other M, and Federation Force (was okay, not good, especially in SP mode). Hmm, the Messenger
is rpgcodex good at all for posting actually?

I actually read it more than I post. But that might me because I don't have much time usually. So, whenever I have the time, I prefer to post here on NMA or other forums where I am a member for longer.

Although there seem to be a lot of edgy posters around there compared to here. xD

If you want serious talk then you're better off in NMA, if you want edgy stuff then yes.
So what do you think about the elder scrolls games?
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
Never played them actually. In general I don't like fantasy with the exception of Planescape Torment as it was so alien and not Tolkien esque.
I always preferred robots, aliens, science above wizards, trolls, orcs etc.

Of course, there are plenty of very unique fantasy settings that do not depend on or use the tropes from European mythology/Tolkien esque fantasy such as Asian ones. Don't think there are many East European ones.

Still I prefer sci fi in general.
I heard today on Youtube that Fox has plans for an Aliens television series. All I can do is shake my head.

Hopefully we get just a slew of Colonial Marine action, maybe some Socialist separatists, all that jazz.

Thing is that I am left leaning, but lately I feel I am more and more a moderate. Eventually or perhaps now already some may even say that I am right leaning.
I am sick of this "Everything is offending" culture.

    Wow what a shocker
Frustrated today that I can't find anything similar to FNV to play. Considered FO3 or 4 for a while but decided not to as I like neither.

Also, I think it's unfair to talk about Arcanum as if it's a fantasy game. It's not, the game began at the point in time where technology is just begin to take over the world, and I'd say they did really good job of making it appear more steampunk than fantasy despite of the elements from the latter appearing in a lot of the places in the game.

Just to throw something into the mix. Maybe the orginal mass effect. I mean it is little dissimilar. But in en-essence its still an action-Shooter RPG

lolpop109. Played Mass Effecy 1, 2 and 3. One recently again, reminded me why I think 1 and 2 are better than 3 but I have no interest in playing the series ever again. Bioware didn't live up their promises of an interconnected experience.

Fanboys in general are retarded. Our torch holding for the old Fallout's to the extreme some have taken it is absurd. These Youtubers make old school Fallout fans look like idiots. Ultimately it is all stupid video games and we all suck.

Wow. I don't really know what to say.
These people can't be bothered to shower and wear clean clothes because they are so engaged in their games?
Or do they absolutely have no idea what bad B.O. does for one's appearance and reputation?

Even I am quite conscious about my body odor and I hate it when it is clear that other people are repulsed by it when I smell like an old gym sock that has not been washed in ages.
Ugh, had an awful dream. Bethesda Game Studios had made a sequel or prequel to Fallout New Vegas.

It was so weird, there was this game map full of buildings and characters but nothing really was happening.
There was also this major radio transmitter or station that apparently was the focus of conflict and tension between factions but I never found out what the reasons were that people wanted to own it or destroy it.

You seen the trypophobia hentai manga? The one where a girl starts developing tiny holes all over her body and she starts fingering the holes?
Wow, Fallout 4 keeps being offered on discount for €15 on Steam, last week and now this week again.

Most likely, when it comes to RPGs games set in a medieval/fantasy setting in general do better than those in other settings.
Heck, Bethesda even tried to to make Fallout a bit more standard RPG fare like such as how they re-imagined some of the factions.
I can be wrong but I think I heard that Fallout 4 still made Bethesda more money than Fallout 3.

Maybe? Without sales data it's plain speculation. But it's a likely case scenario.

With FO3 we still got people defending it with cape and sword until like a year before FO4 came out. Fo4 came out like 3 years ago and last year there were no FO4 fanboys already, or at least not fanboys ardent enough to come "show us modern game haters!"
Would wish for a Christmas miracle as I could use one. But if I learned anything, miracles never happen, especially when you need them.

I am really worried about my financial situation next year.
I currently live of a social income for disabled people, next year the government will cut it with 5% to motivate people with some work abilities to get a job to make up for the loss.
If I could work and was able to find a job I would not be on the social income.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
There was a protest last week to make the government change its mind but they decided to go ahead with it any way.

This decision was planned during a period when the Netherlands was in a financial crisis.
The crisis is now over and the government promised during elections that everyone would experience a financial boost because of the better economy.
    As usual they always lie.

Finally undid whatever was causing my copy of FNV acting weird by spawning an NPC on the wrong place, breaking a quest because of it.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
For some time it seemed that the uncut wasteland mod was the problem as the NPC would disappear when I disabled it.

But I have re installed FNV again after clearing absolutely everything and have re installed a lot of the mods again without this problem re occurring.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
Only differences with last time is that I don't have NVSE or the 4GB expansion for the mods on it, or Archiveinvalidated (though I don't think it could be that)

I love FNV to bits I just wish Bethesda didn't make Obsidian Entertainment rush it.
Fallout 4 is currently on sale on Steam but it has a mixed rating. Most complaints are about CC.

I just googled ELEX. Why have I never heard of this? Was there no marketing for it or something?
    Walpknut
    Walpknut
    Looks kinda generic.
    Black Angel
    Black Angel
@Ben Soto yeah there was rather minimal marketing.

@Walpknut if you loved Piranha Bytes's games before, specifically Gothic 1 and 2, and understood what made them great, and all that jazz, you're going to love it.

It was generic to me, too, at first. But after reading the Codex's impression, I'm actually getting hyped to buy it.
One of the issues I notice about FNV after a while is that it tends to become rather messed up content wise. I had to reinstall it again.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
I have checked if other restoration mods cause the issue with the trooper appearing in Primm instead of near it but it is not YUP or any of the mods that open up the Strip or Freeside.
BTW, I used to have open Westside and Northside as well but it tended to cause issues in those areas such as NPCs disappearing.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
To be honest, I don't really know what I should be getting from this person's post other than not having two mods on at the same time that open areas.
Previously I never had any issues with mods that open up Freeside and the Strip.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
Personally I think the trooper was suppose to appear on another location in Primm, in the shack beneath the overpass to be precise.
I wish I knew how to mod as I would alter the mod and make it so he would be spawned there instead.
Did you make a Fallout tribute video with Dean Martin's "Watching the World Go By" playing in the background?
My memory tells me it was you, but I can't remember really. If I'm not wrong and it was indeed you, could you share a link?
Just saw a list of upcoming films on Den of Geek, many of them have not come out yet but I am so disappointed how many sequels it contains

Fourteen years later and I still mourn for Van Buren. Was thinking of it all night yesterday.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
Of course Van Buren would now no longer have the impact as it could have had because elements of it have already been used and the design documents having been put online for all of us to read.

But I don't think many of us have complained that the surprise is gone as we would have a Fallout 1/2 experience again to go through.

Isn't Van Buren being finished up and released by a group of fans? I've heard rumors.
    The Dutch Ghost
    The Dutch Ghost
I think you are mistaking a fan project to recreate Van Buren with the assets of Fallout 1 and 2 (and some new ones) with Black isle's Van Buren. That one never got finished.
The Free Fallout 4 weekend is a excellent refresher course in how banal the game truly is. Played it for a few hours and now I am cured.

How so? It silences the annoying thought of giving Fallout 4 another try, perhaps buying a copy.
Playing it again freshened up the memories of the decision to remove this game and never ever play it again.
