Aliens Invade Fallout 3

If there was a special encounter in Fallout 1 with an alien abduction, it wouldn't feel that wrong.

After all it's your classic 50's sci-fi scenario.

Actually, it could be entertaining.

But this is Bethesda and Fallout 3 we're talking about:

ALIENS PEW PEW!!

The focus of Fallout 3 was on the wasteland and improving the wasteland, to suddenly have angry alien invaders who want to conquer or destroy the planet and to fight them on their own terf, on their mothership, is a major shift in focus.
I suspect that this will be more of a goofy alien abduction thing (as the description suggests) than some sort of ID4 scenario. It will probably just be a little 2hr module.
And exactly that is the issue, throwing out meaningless 2 hour modules with almost only new toys but no real content that adds anything to the game.

The issue is not so much about the allies or if it has really a explanation or not, but more what kind of value it ads to the game, with Anchorage and Broken Still there is already enough of "shoot a lot of angry ugly faces" in the game. But I can only agree with Garlic that the scope and target of the game should be less about killing any alliens in space but more about the moral and story in the wasteland caused by the effect of the nuclear holocaust. If there would be at least some kind of content in the sense of New Reno for example (something that doesnt fitt the setting but has at least great quests and writting) one could say that it has some kind of value to the story and such, but I guess Bethesda is thinking the audience wants just a brainless killing ... and thats what this "alien DLC" sounds to be like.

Oh this is getting even better. Aliens? In fucking Fallout? Playing a major role, not just some random encounter? Way to go Beth, way to go.

What next? Invasion of anal rape time travelers?

No, it will probably be something of the type like "Attack of the Nazi clowns!!!" or "The second coming of zombie Jesus, WITH BIG GUNS AND EXPLOSIONS!!! The Bible version you can't afford to miss!"

No question that they could fit into a retro-futuristic setting, lots of questions about them fitting into Fallout's or Fallout 3's retro-futuristic setting.
Well, my point is that they are already in FO3's setting. Do they fit with the rest of FO3's setting? I think it has worked well so far. I don't think it crosses genres like the ghost in FO2.

Ya know if the easter eggs are cannon now. Hopefully Dr.Who shows up and puts me into a better game.

This is outright retarded.

Aliens.

Freaking aliens. I cant even begin to explain why this shouldnt be done. Its wrong in every way. It is a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD idea.
IT doesnt make any sense.
Why ?

Nah,I believe the head-honchos at Bethesda, right there from the start-maybe at the back of their head- had a dream of a combined Halo/CoD experience in a post-apocalyptic universe.
O.A. was the first step and Aliens-Mothership Zeta the second.
Can you even imagine the volume of customers this unified model could appeal to?

Even more so now, that FO:Vegas is nodding to the old fans, with a handful of promises.

Maybe Bethesda is trying to become a major player in video games like EA is, but for me in a way, they have jumped the shark even from the start.

I don't know what you guys are bitching about, alien invasions are sooooooo retrofiftyish they make my feelers tingle.

Also, no one will actually be forcing us to buy those "modules", amitrite?

Gosh, I can't wait for DLC 6 - The SOVIETS strike back featuring Joseph Stalin alive and well along with soviet "tesla tanks", he-he, ivading the US, for remaining oil deep within the irradiated soil.

Second varitey as hell ;)

The surprise factor when dealing with bethesda is not present anymore (at least for me), it's like you already know that they will come up with something uninteresting, or/and absurdly stupid.

I think i have a pretty good idea of what their next dlc, or game, will include

I really hope they make a DLC based on zombies! I mean, all varieties of zombies with all varieties of colors! That would almost as good as their idea for a Super Mutant Behemoth!

WTF? Aliens? Seriously?

I don't even know what to say at this point. But the Fallout vs. Aliens image posted on the front page, and the accompanying caption, did make me guffaw.

Doubtfull in my eyes. I mean, if anything the Big guy behind everything is Zenimax, and since they have thrown out the founder of the Elderscrolls the whole franchise has started to become a mediocre title for the mass market, particularly since a few individuals took over the Bethesda development that we all know and love. Without the money bags of Zenimax Bethesda would have been kicked out of buisness at least 2 or 3 times just like a lot of other companies.

Coming Soon : DLC #6
Todd's poop in a box!
you make fun out of it, but just like the things around Half Life 2 and Valve where some die hard valve fans thought they can do no wrong, you can bet if Bethesda had killed Santa Claus people would still even then defend them.

Aliens ? Coool.
Can we have furry, talking deathclaws back too ? Can they be the main villains in Fallout 4 ? Like they have an organized army and shit ? Oh and armors. Furry talking deathclaws need armors. And vehicles.

Thanks

Well, after what they did to Harold can any other thing really suprise us?

And about furry talking deathclaws: Fallout Tactics is still third best game in whole fallout francise IMHO.

It is...And I'm not sure how much worse than Fallout 3 FOBOS was actually...

And just when i was thought they couldn't hurt fallout any more...

In a way, their DLC concept is very interesting, with Anchorage being aimed at the FPS fan, Broken Steel at the pseudo"rpg fan",Vegas the hardcore fallout, Zeta for the cheap scifi fan....
About every range of gamer are being targeted, maybe this is the futur of the gaming business.

Still, Fallout with alien is absurd. As absurd as doing Oblivion with gun.
Oh, wait...

I would't mind aliens in Fallout IF:

1. They were well done and well written, with good reasons to invade a devastated earth.
2. They were a mix of retro fifties-style and lovecraftian alienness
3. There was a interesting exploration of the whole alien invasion idea

But since this is Bethesda, everything goes out from the window.

Obsidian, work fasta plz!

Come on people, encounters with actual living aliens simply don't fit the Fallout setting.

Its about trying to survive in the wasteland and trying to rebuild while dealing with the horrors and anarchy as result of the war.

As I've said before on this thread, the fallout in my head involves barely surviving in a terrible new world... and alien technology scares me more because it could save the world instead of conquer it. You know, the "I see your GECK and raise you one GENESIS DEVICE".

But yeah, I would not mind playing a fallout mod that is just humans, starvation and rustic (or at least rusted) weapons. Power armor and supermutants already makes it a touch more sci-fi than I would prefer, aliens knocks that ball out of the park.
