Automatron dlc looks completely boring

I wouldn't go so far to say they're right, the Bethesda comic books are a great example of the invasiveness of American culture and over-consumption but based on Fallout 4's opening Bethesda think those are positive qualities of Pre-war American life. They were great in Fallout 3 but man did Fallout 4 fuck up the main themes of Fallout.

Yeah while old Fallout games were as American as western movies; both Fallout and Fallout 2 were cynical and even outright critical toward nationalism and nostalgia.

However since Fallout 3 there is some asinine nationalism is going on. Like literally having Minuteman as a faction, really? Also main character being a pre-war soldier is cheap marketing if nothing else.

My expectations are pretty low for this one. I agree it comes off as shady to do a DLC that copies past mods, but then these contemporary Fallout games have always cherry picked from modders, including New Vegas. I'm going to hope for decent at best. Just a goofy short quest-line with some crafting thrown in. I do like the idea of being able to build an ED-E for a new companion. That alone makes me a little excited to try this one out. The following DLC with the arena stuff I'm most likely going to skip. It just seems so dull, like the update for new settlement crafting. Raider and Super Mutant items? Meh.

If you juxtaposed Bethesda's writing in Skyrim or Fallout 4 with some poorly written fan-fiction I doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference.

They keep making games that are labeled "RPG", but they are the worst writers in the gaming industry and Role Playing Games depend on writing more than anything else, so they conveniently joined the trend started by the Borderlands people by making games with "RPG elements" which in reality means "boring upgrade system and XP grinding."

So now to the modern casual gamer RPG has nothing to do with writing and immersion and everything to do with shoot-and-loot XP grinding for boring upgrade systems.

Isn't that sort of pretty smart, on their end? Bethesda knows writing is not their focus, and to try and claim they're being an RPG in the traditional sense is banking on finite resource because sooner or later, they'll be called out for poor writing. Instead, they begin moving away from RPGs - it's likely their future games may not even be termed RPGs, not even by themselves.

It would be more in their financial favour to advertise it as an FPS, since anyone who likes the kind of game Fallout 4 is wouldn't be drawn in much by the term RPG. The majority of people I've seen liking Fallout 4 has no illusion in it being an RPG, they just like the game nevertheless.

Watching this trailer makes me feel tired, as though it's sucking the enthusiasm to play the game directly out of my body. This is weapons-grade mediocrity.

They will unleash this on the civilians of Syria (I have no idea how, so don't quote me on it) and suck out the will to fight from ISIS and the government!

I hope the robot building isn't mandatory, so I can try just sneak in his vault(?), assassinate him and be done with it.

Heheh they'll probably force you to make 5 robots(then consider it an army because shitty engine is shitty) then you have to fight 5 robots at a time that keep respawning from out of your view to make it seem "realistic" then you break into the Mechanist's lair, kill some more useless robots then confront the monologuing idiot then choose a dialogue option that means nothing then kill them.

It's smart if that's what they're trying to do but a few people here seem to think that Bethesda's simply incredibly inept and that they legitimately believe that they're making quality RPG's. However if that is what they're trying to do however, then they're going about it in the most evil manner possible, by dragging down the terms RPG and Fallout all the while convincing marketing analysts that this is how you make profitable RPG's

It's possible to keep mechanist alive who even becomes a settler in return. Hah! You didn't see that coming right!?

In Fallout 4 where you have to kill, kill, kill? Nah I highly doubt it, remember the forced fights like Kellogg who wanted to fight because reasons? How about in the quest where you can choose to save the farm kid? Forced to kill Slag without persuading him to stand down. Since persuasion checks have amounted to nothing more than "GIMMIE MORE MONEH".
Ha you wanted choice? Too bad!

You're so biased. They'll allow us to use Mechanist as a farmer or a vendor then you'll see how good Bethesda at making rpgs with real C&C...

Next you'll tell me they'll make another choice with consequences that'll consist of whether to go through the front door or the back door of the Mechanist's Lair. "Choice and consequence"! Brilliant!

Well here's some pictures and spoilers from someone at 4chan who broke the NDA and this is the resulting screens:

"Rust Devil Raiders"? Yet again another shitty pointless faction just like every other faction in the game. Oh and raiders no less!

Thank goodness for people who are willing to showcase what the $10 price tag will earn someone. (Still looks 'meh' overall.)

I'm pretty sure Bethesda's censoring criticism for the trailer, just a couple of days ago one of the top comments said something along the lines of: "This is everything that's wrong with Fallout 4, Fallout 4 was a disappointment and it doesn't look like you haven't improved on it at all.", now that comment (as well as several other highly rated "this trailer looks shit" comments) have disappeared.

Duh, they don't want bad reviews to ruin their business.

And as usual, Bethesda will largely get away with it. No big twitter hashtag uprising that calls them out on their shit.
