I wish I could use that defense when presenting a Web design proposal to a client "Eh, it's all subjective, but I have fun with it so it's good".

Actually, I would argue that quality is a subjective opinion, as is the metric by which you grade quality, ergo, there is no "right" way to judge a game's quality.
Oh there most certainly is. I could ask 'is there a way to see Spacemarine as a AAA quality part three to the Dawn of War series'... but sadly some could actually see cool visuals and alien gameplay as a plus, simply because it's new and different. :(

So instead I offer this picture and ask if it can be seen as a cool looking and highly evolved improvement to one's own skin, and posit the case for more of the same ~within reason:

:puke: Thank for posting something that will haunt my nightmares forever.

Yeah, if I would have ever used that argument as defence with my supervisor, she would have teared me a new one.

If it isn't the subjective excuse then it's the Beth fans telling me "Well since when has Fallout been realistic with super mutants, laser guns, and other things". I simply facepalm.

Seriously, I am not even so angry about the normal people enjoying the game for what it is, a mindless shooter. I mean, hell, it is not the job of the consumer to analyse everything but to enjoy what they bought. I don't expect from a non-designer to know design stuff, to say it that way.

What disturbs me is how game designers, professionals, do those things and say those lines, like Pete, Tod and Emil, it's art, it's subjective, writers should have fun. All the time. And they get away with so much ... mistakes. It's unbelievable. Like the UI, those are mistakes that not even a first grade design student would make. And there are many other design decisions.

I think many graphic designers, the serious ones, that really learned their craft, have usually very high standards, and I would guess this is true for many designers out there, animators, webdesign you name it. They hate it to release something that is only subpar. At least the one I know. And we constantly get somewhat ... agitated when we see shitty design and advertisment out there making always the same mistakes over and over again. And many of those can be very easily avoided. Like bad typography. Those are not overly complex rules, it's not rocket science. And yet, those people get money for doing it. Sometimes a lot even.

Fallout 4 needs more Power Armor since they want to focus on it so much.

More armors. This concept art almost looks like the Midwestern BoS one.

Might as well add this ugly thing and update it.

And of course the Hellfire Armor shown in Fallout 3 and mentioned in New Vegas. If you are going to take the series into retard territory as in Fallout 3 and 4 just go all out. Fuck it.

Someone mentioned this earlier I believe.

I'd wonder how many miles have people wasted going back and forth to retrieve their PA?

Nothing says HAIL SATAN more than FoT PA and Hellfire. I mean, the former even has wicked death metal chainz.

I meant players in F4. Having to constantly travel about for the sake of PA is quite the immersion breaker.

Walpknut...I have no "religious adoration" for Bethesda. You on the other hand clearly have an unhealthy obssession
Says the guy who claims to be spending his personal time trolling this website as some kind of misguided countermeasure against the perceived trolling of the Bethesda forums.

Quality is an opinion. Opinions are subjective, ergo, quality is subjective.

I don't think you understand what subjective means. Someone, somewhere will find that statue to be a piece of art with no peers. It's the same reason I don't like Picasso at all, but he's considered by many to be one of the greatest artists of all time.
Opinions are subjective, art is subjective.

Some opinions are better than others, however. For example, you seek a physician's "medical opinion" and a lawyer's "legal opinion." It is their opinion based on study.

What I'm getting at is it's certainly possible to have a bad/stupid opinion.

My favorite art story is the one about the janitor that threw away an art piece being exhibited in a gallery showing because he thought it was literally garbage.

Wouldn't that actually be more "immersive"? I mean that word has no meanin at this point but if the Power Armor is a persistent object you can't stuff in your pants when not wearing it then it actually gives it more of a "realistic" feeling to them. I thought that is what Immersion is supposed to be.

Sounds to me like you aren't really familiar with his body of work...
