Companion Likes/Dislikes make no sense

That just makes it look like Bethesda had to write in a button to open the door to make up for their poor companion karma system.
At least they tried. New Vegas didn't even bother.

"Shoot 3 legion guys in the middle of the wastes, no one around or left alive to see me do it" INSTANT VILIFICATION BY THE LEGION!

"At least they tried" is your response? Bethesda Softworks is not a mom-and-pop company struggling to survive. It is a giant development firm. They are perfectly within their financial and technical ability to make a better system than "Piper disliked you unlocking that door even though she does similar things." That kind of black/white morality is childish at best and just ends up making me dismiss companions for 5 minutes and go back for them. It's unlocking a F***ing door, not murdering the entire Commonwealth.

This is definitely worse than the previous system.

And New Vegas absolutely did this companion like/dislike better because it made some F***ing sense when Boone left you for fighting the NCR or Veronica liked the dress but disliked you destroying the Brotherhood. They actually accounted for those things in their writing and development. Now apparently all I have to do is shoot dogmeat and heal him in front of a bunch of companions and I'm a god.

Shoot Dogmeat until it's "unconcious", give him a Stimpack, every companion around will like it, wait 2 in game hours, rinse an repeat.
LOL seriously?

I kept several companions at red rocket, and did this trick to increase the like of Curie, since I had finished most quests, and didn't want to do a thousand more minutemen radiant quests with her (untill then it had fluctuated between two... two! Settlements, a kidnapping and raider problem, kidnapping and raider problem, despite having plenty other settlements).
The result was that while repeating this "trick", I maxed out the like on all the others, while increasing hers

The Legion is repeatedly stated to have spies everywhere. You killed a group of Legionaries but there was probably a frumentarii reporting on your actions to the higher command. People complaining about a faction hating them "simply because they killed people" are kind of disturbing...

If those spies existed, I should have been able to kill them to prevent them from reporting it. Instead we get psychic NPCs knowing everything you did even when its clear no one was around.

Even fucking SKYRIM of all games had the decency to include a "last witness killed = bounty removal" system. Its absolutely pathetic that such a thing wasn't in-place in New Vegas, where such a thing mattered far more.

Actually Piper doesn't unlock people's doors to break into their private residences, she doesn't break into the homes of Diamond City residents and the like.

And the very thing you claim New Vegas does, Fallout 4 does on a much larger scale, with far more actions from being generous to others during quests, all the way to straight murder of civilians being accounted for by companions. Like..... have you played the game for more then 5 minutes?

Are you just ignoring facts now? I already pointed out how you're wrong. You claim Piper and Nick never do anything of the sort. Well guess what? Piper breaks into Diamond City illegally, Nick Valentine tries to illegally break into Kellogg's home.

Nearly every one of your posts on this forum is either misinformation or bad arguments in a vain attempt at deflecting criticism and I see no reason to even acknowledge your existence further.

Maybe you should play the game a bit more

Piper wasn't breaking into Diamond city, that would imply she was scaling the wall or something, and Nick actually advises you go to the mayor's secretary to get a key to Kellogg's house.

Says the man who just lied out his ass.

Ok, I'm going to acknowledge you one last time:

1) THE FIRST TIME YOU MEET PIPER SHE USES YOU TO BREAK INTO DIAMOND CITY ILLEGALLY. THIS IS NOT EVEN DEBATABLE. THIS IS A FACT.

2) NICK VALENTINE ATTEMPTS TO ILLEGALLY BREAK INTO KELLOGG'S HOME IN DIAMOND CITY, AND ONLY AFTER HE FAILS DOES HE ADVISE YOU TO TRY TO PERSUADE THE MAYOR. VALENTINE'S SECRETARY EVEN TELLS THEM THEY SHOULD BE FINE BECAUSE NOT MANY COPS ARE IN THAT AREA. THIS TOO, IS NOT DEBATABLE. IT IS CALLED A "FACT."

I typed that in all caps so hopefully the big letters somehow make these statements more clear than the first time I said it. I'm sorry, but I don't have any crayons to draw you a picture.

Ok then, bye bye now.

Cool your autism bro.

1. Breaking into something is legally defined as opening a place or thing by force, usually with the intent to steal. Piper was, by no legal measure, trying to Break into Diamond City. She was standing outside the door, asking the security guard to let her in, and not attempting to shoot down the door when he refused. This is irrefutable fact.

2. I got Valentine to suggest going to the mayor before any attempt to break into his house. I never had him mention illegally breaking into Kellogg's house, but I will admit I see he does suggest such after looking at his dialogue in Fallout 4 edit.

Maybe if you had stopped acting like a rabid dog, and tried to explain that reasonably, you wouldn't have gotten so frustrated. You have some serious anger control issues, and I hope you get help.

1. She had been banned from entering, and used deception to enter.

2. Valentine tries to lockpick illegally, then tells me to give it a try, which I did, but didn't have sufficient skill, we then go to the mayor about it.

3. You're the one who seems not to understand, Irwin is explaining it fine.

4. Cool it with personal attacks and "accusations" of autism. We're plentyful.

Wow nice dig at autism you worthless little shit. From what I have seen you are the one acting like a rabid dog, seems to have major control issues, is the one getting frustrated and is also not listening to reason. You have done nothing but lie out your ass, spread misinformation or have gone on personal attacks on many of the threads here. Why we continue to humor you I don't know.

A bank is banning you and telling you the next time you enter, they will call the cops. You bribe one of the guards/clerks to get access to their vault. The director finds you. He calls the cops. You explain them your definition of break-in. The cops are not impressed and use their batons to silence you.

Piper uses the player to enter Diamond city illegally by telling a lie to the gate keeper and then get confronted by the mayor, it happens every time you enter DC for the first time.

Valentine tried and failed to pick the lock and then asks the player to do it, im guessing that the key is a backup in case the play lacks the skill required to continue the story line.

I thought the companion affection in Star Wars The Old Republic was wonky, where companions will overlook war crimes if you give them presents. But the companion affection Fallout 4 is worse; getting affection for picking certain locks and terminals, crafting and healing the dog, doesn't make any sense.

Or in Someguy's world, they say sorry and let you walk around the vault for no punishment.

Yeah, this clown is back on ignore.

I say "back" because I strongly suspect we've gone thru this with him before.

Then in Someguy's world they allow you to loot everything in the vault that isn't bolted down.
