Disney to Acquire Lucasfilm Ltd.

In all honesty, Lucas held the films from getting any better than it could of been.

That's a bit of a risky plan. That's like trying heroin to see what all the fuss is about. I would have thought Luke would have been smarter than that....

Well, he let his ego get the better of him and his plan *did* fail, which is why Leia had to bring him back to the Light Side.

It's been a while since I read it, but I think at the time he thought the Dark Side was weaker due to the Emperor being destroyed. But he didn't know of the Emperor Clones and stuff so the Emperor was "alive" and the Emperor was still strong enough to corrupt Luke.

It was a pretty good story, but I wouldn't want the films to mention any of that stuff. Only the films are canon to me. The EU is fine and I enjoy most of it (I hate the New Jedi Order stuff), but I have never considered them canon. *shrug*

Shia Lebeouf as Han Solo Jr. teams up with Tobey Maguire as Luke Skywalker Jr. and Hayden Panettiere as Leia Jr.

Through the course of their adventures they learn the true meaning of friendship.

And Jonah Hill as Jabba the Hutt:

I hate the way the force works in the expanded universe and the prequels, Jedis are the most gulible shits in the galaxy.

The Force works the same in all the films.

re:the EU - Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series exaggerated The Force quite a bit. the Jedi could do things that Jedi normally could not. Also, Obsidian changed the way the Force works so they could play around with philosophy a bit in KOTOR 2. And also in the trailers for The Old Republic they had Jedi doing Hadouken, when Jedi cannot do Hadouken. Other than that, I think it's been pretty consistent in the EU as well.

At no point in the original 3 movies it is said that if you commit one bad thing you will inmediately go Bat shit evil after a while. Only Star Wars thing other than the first 3 movies I liked was the Tartakovsky cartoon, I prefer the Jedis being creative with their space magix, otherwise they are pretty boring.

I don't think that ever happened?
Can you provide and example? :p

Well, like I said, they took a lot of artistic license with the Force powers in that show. For example:

Force Push is not that powerful, no matter how powerful the Jedi is wielding it.

Anakin? StarKiller? one of Han Solo's kids that they turned from illuminated Force user to Sith.

I ve heard they want to make a series about Ja Ja bings. They want to make it like Band of Brothers or The Pacific (Spielberg is already on board) just wth the Gungans as allies and the droids as axis.

What I found a problem but others don't mind is how unbalanced Force users are written in the books and games.

I actually liked the idea that Force users like Luke Skywalkers did not exaggerate the use of the Force as extreme use could be somewhat addicting and lead people to the dark side of the Force.
Subtle use and relying on one's own skills worked just as well and sometimes more favorable.

But some people write Force users as these super powerful wizards who just pull of one Force trick after another, especially when the story needs to be kept in motion and the writer has not been able to come up or work out a solution other than "The Force did it!"

From pulling Star Destroyers out of the sky to teleportation over several light years.

Its than when I find Jedi character less interesting and more walking deus ex machina plot devices everyone seems to adore or must adore or fear.

Jabba the Hutt, junior.

Jabba's son (daughter?) with one of the humanoid slave girls Jabba is apparently attracted to despite the substantial physiological differences. Jonah the Hutt, fed up with his father's unscrupulous methods, joins the gang in order to find and assert his individuality in a positive way.

Wait, what? :irked:

Force Unleashed bro. It was one of those Star Wars games that took Jedi powers to a ridiculously absurd level.

In Darksaber the Jedi apprentices also throw a whole fleet of Star Destroyers through space.

It also had Force-created golems, some massive in size. And reducing At-Sts to a pile of junk. And a lightsaber fight with Obi-Wan's Force Ghost (don't ask me how that one works). But the Star Destroyer scene was the most absurd, yes, while also being really unfun because the controls were FUBAR.

It's apparently pretty toned down in The Old Republic, or so I heard. Helps that smuggler and bounty hunters in that game are (supposed to be) equal to Jedi masters and Sith lords.

"It's not my genre," the director explained. "It's my best friend George's genre."

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/steven-spielberg-not-direct-star-wars-movie-145726563.html

Spielberg says that he has no interest in directing the Star Wars movies.

It's interesting that he says that it is not his genre as he did direct E.T and Close encounters of the third kind. He has also directed action stuff like Indiana Jones...

I think the real reason he is not directing these movies is because then his Star Wars directing would be compared to that of George Lucas...and we all know Spielberg is a much better director than George and as George's best friend Spielberg does not want this sort of comparison to happen...

Fun Fact: When Lucas was almost done with the original Star Wars, he showed a rough copy of it to many of his director friends. This copy wasn't finalized in terms of special effects but everything else was done. Many of the directors did not like the movie but Spielberg loved it......Luckily one executive liked the movie otherwise who know what would have happened?
