I really want to see this now, summer '09, that's not too long to wait.

There's also that movie '9' that comes out 9/9/09, long wait for that, but I also want to watch it.

Sounds like an interesting premise. I have no idea what genre they're aiming for. Hopefully not another Cloverfield.

Yes, but that's like saying Fallout 3 is based on Fallout.

Sure, it's a similar setting, but what does it tell you about the genre?

The synopsis sounds like that Twilight episode.

Slaver human is mutated into slave alien and learns to embrace diversity.

I think so as well, so its based on a short movie which copies a Twilight Zone episode story?

well Twilight Zone has done everything already so there are bound to be some "copies", even though this is more of a social commentary then a rip-off.

Saw a commercial for this on the TV yesterday and decided to look into it. Looked a bit like the movie/TV series Alien Nation-

(then again, isn't Moon a bit derivative of Silent Running?)

    From Hollywood Reporter-

Like the idea of an originial Sci-Fi summer film, for a chance, given that the season is most often dominated by computer game - to- move, sequels, or super hero flicks. Still, weak characters isn't good for a flick.

    trailer?

Please tell me it's not that lame. Oh wait, Peter Jackson's name is attached to it, so it probably is.

well the idea of discrimination and "aliens" isnt thaaaat new.

It seems interesting as a movie. Though it also reminds me to the show Alien Nation, which was also very good (for that time)

Ah, the Day the Earth Stood Still . . .

Looks interesting, thus far. I'll have to forfeit the cost of a ticket, perhaps.

I'm gonna watch this one anyway. Alien-human bigotry is always an interesting subject...

Ohhh god this brings back memories. There was a scene on this TV program that I took to heart. Someone brought one of the aliens some roses but she was disgusted that he would kill some plants to bring to her. I felt that made quite allot of sense.

    Thanks for the memory.

Looks like E.T. Except this time those E.T can't go home. Yet.
Still it's a break from the usual summer action flick.

Though the new trailer (here) shown some action parts. I do hope it's not overdone in the film.

Same here. Not that action in some way is wrong. But to many times such movies where you think you could expect somewhat a more "complex" plot or serious characters and stories now ... gets full with action while the issue in the story mentioned once or even twice.

Most of those movies seem not to contain more value in the Story then "THe Hills have eyes" or something ...

If the movie turns out like Children of Men with only a memorable action scene, it's fine in my book. Since the real 'action' lies not on the character but on the storyline and setting.

Edit: new promo trailer with commentary.

Am expecting it to be enjoyable trash, with a few interesting oddities, nothing more. Keeping this in mind, should like it when I see it.

Also, I totally love South African accents.
