Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

The first image looks like Daniel Farraday killing Skeletor, and the second image... uhhh.... I don't know.

Second image looks like something out of Prince of Persia - The Two Thrones... Heh, maybe it'll use similar combat for a more dynamic combat system?

That looks fucking terrible.

I actually liked the visuals from the first game and now it just seems they've decided to scrap it all for NO GOOD REASON.

This is just ugly, what with all the needless spikes and fleshy tones.

I guess that serrated part of the sword is for those camping trips that involve killing elephants.

Why do their swords need to look like some dumbass just smacked a sheet of steel for a minute and stuck them on a hilt? And the art style looks like a three-way between Berserk, Borderlands, and Diablo III. Strangely enough, games (or comics) that have good art direction on their own don't look good when mixed with another.

The graphics in these screenshots look terrible, i mean what the hell? Then there is the art direction, which looks pretty interesting, but what's with the funky armor and swords?

I am not really worried about it. By the time this is out hopefully Diablo III will be out and an extremly large chunk of PC RPG gamers (myself included) will be slaving away on it as we did with D2.

Everything else is just a filler until then. Although I will say I enjoyed Dragon Age Origins quite a bit, never got around to Awakening.

Diablo 3 has promise, just hope its as good as number 2, as I had a real good bash at that again recently, as for those new screenshots, WTF!?!?!?

they really have done a great job of killing the first game, those graphics as opthers have said, do look terrible, WTF are they thinking of? looks like the game will be a no brainer, and complete in a few hours time, :(

certainly a game to wipe of my buy list, they certainly alienated the PC market with those graphics, similar to supcom 2, a bad game unless you liked the simpler game design and cartoony graphics engine,

real shame :(

woot ?! Diablo is an slash&hack, in my opinion there is no more dumb down RPG than this.
the ability to pick stuff and equip them, is what called RPG's elements, other wise ME1/2 should be one of the best RPG's evAr !

and putting DA:O with diable in the same sentence is just wrong, diablo is god of wars in ISO and with RPG elements e.g. ARPG at best not RPG.

that 2nd image looks like its from that brad pitt movie "troy" or something where he does the same jumping attack that was horribly fake in that movie but made everyone go "ooooooo ahhhhh" and broke historical accuracy for me.

Yeah well that jump move is actually more effective than you'd expect. A buddy of mine tried it on me twice and each time I fell for it. I ain't a master swordsman, but still it was pretty hard to deflect.

As for the images - how can a company like Bioware actually release screens as shitty as those?

Seems like some sort of beta screens to me, what with the complete lack of any shadows or other nifty effects modern games are littered with.

Dunno about the artistical style though, looks like the kyle guy from that one jedi game.

Looks like a calm day at the office…can’t those clever games designers build facial expressions for their characters…come on, the man is fighting for his own life, and surely he could have a slightly anguished expression…instead he looks blissed out on crack.

He killed so many skeletons, that he doesn't care shit anymore. That's why his face expression looks how it looks. He is in dream land right now and dreams about smashing unicorns instead of skeletons.

Bleh, those screens look like they'd be more fit into a Fable 3 review than a new DA. The first game looked decent I guess, why screw it up and actually just make it plain old bad?

by the way what the deal with fable, is it worse it?!

because i read few review saying its amazing deep, a lot of option, consequences etc but i cant avoid the feeling of sims when i look at it, all those gestures etc..

I'd rather play Fallout 3 than Fable II. It's super boring and easy. At least Fallout 3 doesn't let you get back up after you die with no consequences.

Those reviews you've read are full of it.

Fable and Fable II are exceedingly simple and simplistic games. The storyline is insipid and often nonsensical, especially in Fable II. There are no real consequences to your actions as there are very few significant choices to be made, and those choices that are to be made are of the extremely simplistic black-white variety.

Maybe a biger focus on the console ? I mean without the intention to bas that platform but it seems to me that many games get visualy changed so its easier to realised them on the console which right now is from the hardware behind the PC. Well at least till new platforms will be shown to the public.

Yeah ... Yeah. And Fallout 3 got awards for its excelent writting. Do anyone really still has some thrust in those "reviews" and "previews" and other stuff.

Also, they are going with the Mass Effect dialogue wheel.
Awesome!

Maybe there should be a new buzzword invented. Something like Mass effectization instead of dumbing down. And cause Mass Effect is the new Jesus of RPGs people will believe its a feature and huge inovation!

I don't see a difference between what they are calling a "dialogue tree" and the "conversation wheel."

Isn't one the same as the other, except in shape? I mean, the conversations in ME weren't in real time or anything. They could have had the conversations in ME listed from the top down, and had the same effect.
