Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I haven't been reading much lately but does anybody know wether a PS3 patch has been released for this game? Because the game had some freeze issues just like Fallout NV and Fallout 3.

You'll better forget Skyrim on the PS3. Its performance issues are worse than those in NV and F3 and I severely doubt that Beth can/will fix them. They said they are working on a patch but they also said that the PS3 version was as good as the 360 version.

Thanks for the info dude. Yeah, I also had my doubts. Interesting how this thing has been going on since Fallout 3. Oblivion didn't had this problem but then again, that game was ported by 4J studios and it would certainly cost bethesda more money if they wanted to go for that for Skyrim as well.

It's different for everyone. I have almost no performance issues. BS quest-breaking bugs that Bethesda will never fix but no serious performance issues. This is my second playthrough, I'm level 68, have a 14MB save file and no frame rate drops or freezes at all since the latest patch.

Anyone with a HUGE save file on PS3 will eventually have issues.

I...uh...like this game? I don't get it. Everything from the choice of perks being shit to playing specific roles being useless, especially if you play a character long enough. The writing is decent at best, but it offers no choice in deviation from the story, from what I've played. Combat is annoying repetitious. Despite having a better designed game world, the typical quest locations make it a hassle to walk through without spamming fast travel. Dungeons are ridiculously linear, even more so than Fallout 3.

Yet, past all this, I some how enjoy it, in a way that I enjoyed Morrowind. I've hit the 80 hour mark with my GodOrc and I still feel compelled to play more. I'm even compelled to start over again with a different character. I'm so confused about this. Bad mechanics usually prevent me from really enjoying a game but here I am having fun.

It will eventually wear off. Bad game mechanics kill games in the long run. Once you see the depth is an illusion. I think once the DLC comes out it will be better, but I had problems with it's changes. To each their own though. The MachoMan mod made the game much more tolerable in my humble opinion.

I had them on my first play through, but my second is problem free... Mind you, last time I posted that, further up thread, it did become a case of "famous last words" with a boatload of freezes and crashes. Still, it is surprisingly smoother with the most recent patch.

As for the game itself... it's largely shit. I play it as what it really is, a hack and slash with meaningless quests. The character development and levelling up is an utter joke. And so many perks are completely worthless. Lower expectations make for a wee bit more enjoyment.

I thought it is funny

I Strongly agree with you. The game fails as a RPG.

I'm enjoying Skyrim. I'm not going to gush over it like some people, but I'm finding plenty of ways to amuse myself.

The lack of decent roleplaying features though has forced me to take it into my own hands. Basically trying to do hardcore mode from NV... without any meters.

An added challenge is being a Bosmer of course. No veggies for me!

I've tried to find ways to enjoy it but I think the only way the game will ever be challenging is by never enhancing any weapons or armour.

Enhanced my weapons and armour to "legendary" and... nothing can touch me and almost everything goes down easily. And that's without cheating via the fortify restoration potion.

Right now (or rather the last time I played which was a few days back) I was wearing a helm, gauntlets and boots. No armour at all, just my underwear, playing on very hard/expert and... still almost nothing can wound me.

I look at Skyrim as a very bad $60 beta. Mind you, at least I can say I got my money's worth when as far as gaming hours.

No if only Bethesda would get a clue and fix all the quest breaking bugs. I loooove having a journal filled with quests I can't complete.

the divinity games are not bad when compared to Skyrim/Oblivion.

Though I still find that they could have made more with it. Particularly the Be-A-Dragon-Part. But it is entertaining after all.

Would be awesome to have a game with the size Arma 2 offers. But as RPG and Dragon powers. Huge distance ? No problem at all! Just fly.

Mhmm I think there was also a game with a girl where you could ride a dragon (no naughty stuff ...). Can't remember the name anymore. But pretty old game.

There are seriously way to many kill-da-evuil-drugons! games out there while not enough games where you actually get cool dragons either to ride or even to play. I think there was a long time back as well some MMO where you could start as some kind of Dragon-hatchling and growing over time.

*Edit
I guess with Skyrim I have to wait till the construction set is out. As there is yet nothing around then a "work around" which sadly does not work all that well. But I am sure there will be dragon-mods out in the future!

Larian is in a way anti-Bethesda. Beth relies on addicting arcade-like gameplay and ditches everything else. Larian games, on the other hand, with their occasional flaws, are incredibly well-written. Sure, they're still linear aRPGs with free-roam, but the dialogue is without exception brilliant.

I can't say I play Larian's game for the stories, though the expansion of Divinity II was pretty good story-wise.

I just think DKS did an exceptional job with the whole human/dragon gameplay. Fluidly changing between the two in a continuous world, very different types of gameplay. The only shame, to my mind, is that being a dragon lacked a good amount of ooompfh. I never felt particularly powerful as a dragon, instead you have to skitter around like a jitterbug as shit keeps flying at you.
