Fallout 4 announced with official trailer

Another thing that sucks about there being a voiced protagonist is there is now zero chance of low-intelligence dialogue. Bethesda didn't have any in Fallout 3, but Obsidian did in New Vegas. So, again, I was hoping that they would learn something from Obsidian on features that should be in a Fallout game in regards to reactivity and choice and consequence, but apparently not.

I thought Fallout 3 was full with low-intelligence dialogue.

:drummer:

Haha. Yeah, true. There was nothing but low-intelligence dialogue in Fallout 3. I should've complained that there won't be high-intelligence dialogue. My bad. :p

I am not very good tbh.

Anyone wondering why post-war skyscrapers (and buildings) in 1;45 looks like not touched by the war? Odd. Another city avoided nukes? New retcon, this time from FNV? It's really weird.

It doesn't look the same... more like a patch work of the bellow image. Is it possible they built a new structure around the old scaffolding?

Also, good to know about the vertibirds, apparently in my rush through FO3 I missed many things.
On the prewar sequence you can see a mushroom cloud in the middle of the city and the people getting affected by it so... yeah, What the fuck? How are those skyscrapers not just a collection of beams?
Middle of town? I am not sure where is the town cetner, but here it looks like nuke hit the other side of mountain from where we are looking.

EDIT: unless there is another image and this is a sunspot, its hard to figure out the details on my tiny screen...

Let's all take a moment to recognize without the monumental efforts of Todd and his AAA-quality dream team, this humble little community wouldn't exist. The Fallout franchise wouldn't exist. Bethesda took an obscure 90s title and turned it into a nation-wide phenomena. 6/3/15 was historic. Those were the greatest three minutes and five seconds of my life and it his been an absolute pleasure serving this community. Thank you all for the support.

To be fair, no open world game has caustics, that would be insane.
But anyway yeah at first I thought that was just concept art, but it is supposedly in game footage (altho Troy Baker there implies a it's a prerendered cinematic) Altho I doubt the final game will look any better without texture packs, Enbs and such. The segments with the towns and the flying ships had some really poor texture work. Thanks console people, you made this a thing.

Game looks awesome.

But... not happy with Bethesda working on the game exclusively instead of letting Obsidian write the story. God, I hope we don't have to deal with the effin' Enclave again!

My god, I just thought... imagine it would be possible to easily port New Vegas to that new engine. Just like you can play Fallout 3 in New Vegas. That would be awesome. I'd totally buy that game.

I fell like such an idiot for not being able to tell if this is irony or not.

Anyways, I don't have any faith in Bethesda's story writing or character development, nor their ability to recapture the dry wit of the originals.
Nor their ability to even remain tonally consistent between sequels. Neon steampunk bullshit?
Best part - these graphics look like total shit. If you're going for a game that's a brainless first person shooter wearing a potato sack with the letters "RPG" drawn on it with crayons, couldn't you at least put some of that money into some current gen graphics? Yikes.

Exactly.

People get mad at us old timers for espousing the good points of the old games. They weren't perfect by any means but I'd wager that the reasons we liked them weren't just because they were RPGs or just that they were post apoc. It was that the act of making a choice had real meaning, for your character and especially others. That characters had plenty of depth, and their relationships with other characters/regions were fleshed out and testable. And finally, the level of atmosphere was simply unequaled. Most games now seem to have so much less of that. But the bile really comes up when they purport to make a fallout game without any the things that made it great. First person was inevitable, due to the trajectory of technology and trends. Bethesda getting their hands on the franchise was what killed it for me. A company that makes games in which the main mission is almost unplayable shouldn't have anything to do with the fallout franchise. To add to what Marionette said, they wouldn't know dry wit, satire, or dark humor if it bit them square in the ass. And copying and pasting an Ink Spots intro doesn't make it a fallout game. Look, I'm probably going to play the damn thing, sure, but calling it Fallout 4 is just sad. Whats sadder is that the game isn't for us. They're going to make their biggest bucks on people that started playing at Fallout 3.

Every post from that guy makes this board a more entertaining place.

Time to get on the hypetrain that's cruisin through

LOL, you guys are fucking hilarious. It always makes me laugh how everyone comes on and rips the new fallouts, when you know they are all secretly excited and every single one of them will buy/steal and play this game.

People just like to hear themselves bitch.

Fallout_4:_Welcome_Home_-_Trailer_analysis_and_summary

Why is there a Vertibird in the pre war era?

Let say there was few prototypes of Verti in pre-war times.
Let say one of them went for a little fight when war with China happened.
Let say it was actually above outskirts.
NEED TO PUT IT IN THE TRAILER...

But they're confusing all those Fo3 fanboys at the same time, indicating that Verti were common pre-war. (Probably to justfiy their mass use of them in Fo3 and Fo4 what is just plain silly (especially Fo4*).)

*Verti pre-war, lone Verti, Verti with Zeppelin, Verti from inside.

By the way. Shouldn't Boston people be unable to produce Verti? Only Enclave has their plans. It then went to Shi (doesnt matter) or BoS. But BOS did not produced them and only used salvaged ones from Enclave, like NCR.
And now, Boston, which has zero connection to enclave, and one Verti after another. :<
