Fallout 4 coming out on November 10, free mobile spin-off out now

@djmani, you're welcome to laugh. I get that sometimes, as I tend not to crush people outright the way a lot of the mods did back during the golden age you're pining for. Stop and take a look around, though-- plenty of people agree with you in spirit. It's just hard to do when you're waving your opinions around like broken bottles in a tavern brawl.

Strike two (ha, ha), and a weeklong temp ban to cool your head. If you've been with the community for as long as you say it would be a shame to lose you for good.

The Romans waged BS to capture slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for BS. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into a BS superpower. But BS...

Hmmm. Somehow I forget that last little bit there. I'm sure it wasn't that important, anyway.

At any rate, that is some pretty spiffy art. I'm quite pleased at how Bethesda's embraced the bulk of P.A. and its fundamentally different nature from just a fancy suit of metal armor. They may have even gone a bit too far in that direction, but I'll take it over the tin boyscouts of the last generation, no contest.

This thread is a really strong resource for gathering posters together to mass ignore about once a week.

Keep it up guys, I'm thoroughly enjoying you all putting NMA in its place finally! :ok:

What I really really hope is that they will make power armor more than just a glorified plate armor. It seems that you will have to maintain your power armor (I guess?). So the protection should naturally have a downside in the wasteland. A hefty one. It's expensive to use. And it requires a lot of resources. Just like how it would be difficult to maintain a tank in the desert without any real resources. An army of tanks, with the right supply lines and economy behind it, is a very strong force. But a single unit without any support? Not to smuch.

So I hope that poweramor will at least require some specialiced equipment to deal with it, like rockets, explosives, laser/plasma, heavy calibers, or maybe shooting at weak points at least to do some damage. There really should not be situations where every phuny raider with a pistol or wooden board with nails in it can damage the player. Likewhise it should be also difficult for the player to beat opponents in power armor.

Though I doubt they will go THAT far with the game mechanics and it will just give you more restiance, like how it happens in Skyrim, F3 and Oblivion ... can you say boooooooooooooooooooring ...

Yeah, I'm really hoping for battery scavneging for your PA, but like you said I doubt Bethesda will think that much about. Hell they'll probably give it to you gift wrapped...

Ah well, I feel that it will involve most probably some kind of quest where you will get a PA by someone, most probably by the BoS, but it will require repair and your target will be to get some rare parts to make it work again. I am not sure but I could swear we also had that already somewhere else ...

I actually like that items decay with use. Unfortunately they took that out in Skyrim. I wonder if they are going to do the same with Fallout 4 since many gamers don't like having to maintain weapons and armor. Heaven forbid that weapons and armor decay with use and need to be maintain. That's just too much work.

Only t45d would need a battery

We already saw there's no condition meter in the PipBoy

Actually, a well made gun can last for generations with just occasional cleaning and oiling, even with regular use. Hardly any work at all. It's cheaply made junk that falls apart a little more every time you fire it.

I would like to see hit and damage decals applied to the individual parts of a PA when they get banged up. And preferably different ones for different types of damage, like scorch marks from energy weapon damage, round dents when shot by ballistic weapons, black sooty spots when burned, etc. Since Beth seems to have put a bit of time and effort into the PAs, and considering how much focus they put on the visuals of their games, it would seem like something they actually might do.

Indeed, the layered armor system is used for the PA as well and the suit condition is important enough that they choose to add HUD indicator for it. I'd love if I could keep my old PA pile of junk together with just duct tape, but I don't know if or to what extent maintainess will play a role in this... still its good that there is something to balance PA and the new system offers interesting possibilities for weapons and tactics.

Yeah BS... A while back I had a huge collection of various artworks, mostly WW2 related, with many BS among them. When my HD died with it, I almost cried :puppy-dog:

FYI, Fallout 1/2 didn't have item decay, neither do more recent titles like Pillars of Eternity and Wasteland 2. On the other hand, a lot of FPS that try to distinguish themselves fdo so by being extra hardcore/realistic.

I suppose that you consider me, who played all the above (and never considered playing FO:NV hardcore mode), lazy and stupid, eh..

Well Fallout 1&2 didn't have the whole wear and tear item dacay business. I don't really see this feature as must. Although I do have some concerns about how the Power Armor will pan out in all of this. I hope you won't just take a few pistol bullets and bits and parts will just fly off you. Because that would be really shitty and damage the badass feel of the PA. IMO you should only see part fall of you when you get hit by high caliber bullets .50 bmg or rockets.

They are gonna be so mad when they realize the Pipboy is made of pretty cheap plastic....

Which they where told on E3 and afterwards several times btw. very clear ... but yes people like to get mad on the internets... even if it is their own fault.
