Fallout 4 DLC revealed

We are so ungrateful for wanting good DLC that doesn't cost an arm or a leg, in this case it's for crappy content. This apologist acts like were getting this stuff for free.

The only expansion I ever bought for a video game was GTA - London. I'm against DLC, I feel as though I am being cheated out of the full game when it comes to DLC.
If it's something that's legitimately an add-on rather than something they left out of release to sell piecemeal at a later date, you've no reason to feel cheated.

I've been buying expansion packs since Forge of Virtue for Ultima VII back in 1992, so the idea is far from foreign to me.

So can we agree that Bethesda both doesn't want to make the kind of Fallout game that NMA and fans of the Black Isle/Obsidian want, and they also couldn't for the life of them?

Eh, who asked for a customizable robot companion or an arena (just repurpose the one already in the game), let alone a Sims furniture expansion?
I think most people were expecting expansion DLCs like those of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, new lands with new campaigns, quests, and characters, that are well designed and not quantity over quality.

They probably could, but it would probably take an age to make.

That is one way of saying "we ask stuff to be in the main game and they sell it to us, we ask for good content in the game and they sell it to us and we don't know if it will be good until we try it, and we still fucking bitch. The Fallout community and fans are so ungrateful, I swear..."

brb, going to answer that fucker.

It isn't time they lack, it's talent. They don't have the writing or design staff to do these things, and they most likely feel comfortable enough with the size of their consumer base that they aren't compelled to bother, anyway.

That is true, the main stroyline can either make or break a game

Bethesda's community is equally as brain dead to the company that in which in follows.

None asked for shitty DLC to which you will get board way before 2 hours. None asked for the dialogue system to be molested and none in hell asked for Cabot house and Kid in a Fridge.

I'm not even trust scottsman here, But i'm being honest. Twitcher streamers (Lot of them) Youtubers. (Mr.MattyPlays) Are all cash in whores, Who jump on hype trains if it benefits themselves. Think about it, When is the last time you seen a twitch streamer actually be unique in their own personality and actually play any game that is more than a year old at the time the channel was made? The answer is very low. I hate people who don't do their own thing and cling to conformity because they want to ride dick of people who will give them money. Do shit you want to do because you love it. Don't be one of those Muppet that sit in front of a camera and give credit and agree with your small little chat because you are afraid of actually setting an opinion.

Of note is that Far Harbor only mentions new Weapons and Armor to make you stronger, no mention of Perks or anything like that, so they realize they also fucked themselves over with the stupid Perk Chart thing and the No Level Cap thing.
The whole concept of power creep is already build in to the game. Man, even D3 required at least an expansion before the power creep ruined the game.

Just noticed another funny thing about this announcement.
Obviously, "more than $60 worth of content" is marketing bullshit, but that's even more to that. Let's do some quick calculations.
Today they've announced DLC priced 9.99, 4.99 and 24.99, which makes a total of roughly $40.

60-40=20
Ta-da! One can only imagine the incredible content that they'll release for the remaining 20 bucks, considering the price tags for the DLC packs they've announced today. Since the only story-based pack is priced $25, it probably means that all you get for your season pass is even more horse <s>shit</s> armor.

I just noticed that MrMatty's fans are getting ready to burn him at the stake for trying to analyze whether the DLC is a ripoff or not. He backtracked HARD in the comments. Basically saying "GUYS! OF COURSE IT'S A GREAT DEAL!!!" It's hilarious:

When you're a fanboy who panders to fanboys you reap what you sow when you even slightly imply that Bethesda might be anything less than the Jesus of gaming. Some of his fans are literally telling him to "shut the **** up because Bethesda is giving us $60 for $50 it's a great deal" for making a video that might slightly imply that the season pass price change is NOT the best thing since sliced bread.

It's actually quite hilarious. The guy has spent the last 5 years being the biggest fanboy possible and the second he posts a single video that MIGHT SUGGEST there is something wrong with the game or Bethesda but does not even directly say it, his fans are pretty much calling him an idiot who "needs to shut the **** up because it's an amazing deal at $50" - the same fans who ate up all the talk of Fallout 4 being a "near perfect video game" and New Vegas being flawed in comparison.

Yep, I am still in love with this one. The last light of a setting sun, the ruins and remnants of a long dead past, our main character alone on the road heading towards an unknown and uncertain future.
Dammit, now I want to replay Lonesome Road again.
That was my phone's background for the better part of a year, still love that image. I also want to play Lonesome Road again, think I might do that later on today.

Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road. Not only are they each great and unique DLCs they also have great titles. Each title gives a decent idea of what the DLC is going to be about. "Dead Money" is the best, it being very similar to "blood money", implying murder for personal gain, and describing a setting where money is not only dead, but also brings death.

Already Bethesda has failed. Far Harbour? So what, you go to a harbour that happens to be far?

Wow, the titles are so obvious, but I had never made that connection, and that just makes me appreciate the DLC's that much more. I feel like an idiot for not realizing that lol

Dead Money is also a term used in some card game used for gambling
Wiki copypaste:
  • "Dead Money" is a slang term used in poker to refer to numerous things. Most commonly, it refers to money that is already in the pot, and goes only to the winner of the hand. For example, if two players each bet $5 on the first betting round, in the second betting round, there will be $10 in the pot in "dead money." Additionally, it also refers to money bet out, but is now facing a reraise. If one player bets $5, and another player raises to $15, the original player cannot retrieve his original $5 without winning the pot - the money is now dead. "Dead Money" can also refer to a player who believes they have a chance at winning, but in reality they have almost no such chance due to a lack of skill or experience. Therefore a tournament with many unskilled players can be said to have a lot of "dead money".
Which fits perfectly with the gambling as some kind of metaphore about the Couriers journey. Sortof. And Fart Harbor... i found nothing about that term.

Holy shit that's amazing. Stupid me not knowing my poker terms playing a game set around casinos.

This line: "Dead Money" can also refer to a player who believes they have a chance at winning, but in reality they have almost no such chance due to a lack of skill or experience" is very apt considering Dean Domino, Christine Royce and even Elijah. All thinking they have the skill required but each outplayed by another.

The closest connotations I can think of for harbours are Pearl Harbour, which I'm sure is completely irrelevant, and Lovecraftian lore.

So he went from sucking Bethesda's dick to backpedaling like crazy to backpedaling to the point that the world stopped spinning? Brilliant and the 12 year olds hardcore Bethesda fans he appealed to are now supporting a deal that's "$60 stuff for $50 deal"? That's not a deal, a deal would be like most of the steam games which I got on sale for 75% or more off. That's a deal.

By the way, just the cast from the Old World Blues and DM, with some from Honest Hearts, are losing in amount around 1/5 to vanilla Fo4 and maybe Fo3, but they win at 10/1 in quality and personality. Just compare Christine or even YOUR OWN BRAIN to.... ..... hmmmmmm... Beer Buddy and Curie?
