Fallout 4 Launch Trailer

Metacritic scores honestly have no meaning at all. People should understand that by now.

That majority is split between idiots who don't have any appreciation for what we believe a Fallout game should be and actually reasonable people who like Fallout 3 for its "Hiking Simulator"-esque environmental storytelling and shooting galleries with filler and loot or those who like the type of story in FO3.

I prefer to stick with people who are the latter.

That means you like the second type of people, former would be first.

Yes I like the honest people. Anything wrong there?

The former make up lies or are just too lazy to do any research on their own about Fallout 3. The latter actually admit that something isn't for them and know why they personally like it more.

You can say about Ubisoft what ever you want. But they are at least responsible for Deus Ex Human revolution, which is a decent Deus Ex game. They haev at least proven that their writing is better than what Bethesda can deliver in my opinion.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is Eidos/Square-Enix, not Ubisoft.

Squeenix, the company that made the Super Mario RPG and numerous good Final Fantasy games but who also made dreck like the Lightning nonsense.

I liked the Lightning nonsense. Those games had a great combat system. Lots of fun to play.

So just a random fun question. What score would you give Fallout 4?

I think I already know kostjamoscow's answer.

Destiny is destiny afterall.

Bethesda should've copied the dialogue system from Fallout 1 and 2 instead of copying the one from a game with an entirely different design goals and history. Maybe they could've tried and actually EXPAND on the system to make it more flexible and allow for more complexity and choice? Perish the thought!

In any case, Bethesda is not the worst, but it certainly isn't of the best, not by a long shot. They keep releasing the same game but with progressively more simplified mechanics and with incresingly more emphasis on the filler content. Which I guess is appealing to a lot of people, but it runs contrary to the very essence of Fallout.

As a stand alone game I would give it a 7 from what we have seen. As a Fallout game I would give it a 4 on account of the Leveling system, dialogue dumbing down alone, because the quality of the writting (despite me not being too hopeful about it) isstill up in the air.

Being pedantic (and off topic) here, but I'd just like to point out that Eidos Montreal developed Deus Ex : Human Revolution and are the ones developing Mankind Divided. Square Enix only publish the games. And thank god for that.

Yup. They understand their audience, hence why they're perfectly happy shelling out mediocre, but marketable products that appeal to a wider base.

Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim were fun, albeit shallow experiences. Fallout 4 looks to be more of the same.

I and a lot of others here are bit more discriminating having played the first two Fallout game and, for me personally--having been introduced to roleplaying in general thru them--it's kind of a bummer to see the series headed in the direction it is.

Wholly and utterly average.

I actually wonder how things would be different if BGS adhered to the core concepts and elements that made the classic games good and games, in general, GOOD? Like if they put all their focus on worldbuilding and the leveling up system and quality written no bullshit dialogue? Would it sell less? I honestly doubt it.

Of course they can market the game how they want but what if the finished product was actually a good Fallout game?

7.5 to 8, which is what I give most Beth games. I'm easier to please than most, but I can still be critical. For all that Bethesda gets wrong, they do a few things right to keep the games entertaining, like a C student. Only beth game I would give a 10 is Call of Cthulhu.

Damn, the level of "i am better", "smarter", "more distinct" than everyone else in this post is just awful.

So sad that everyone who doesn't like Fallout 4 believes they have some "higher motive" opinion and are "better informed".

Kostja, If you played and understood some of the old games, like Fallout 1, Planescape, Arcanum and many more, you would know why people think like that. Most of us here - I think? - don't have a problem with mindless entertainment, be it with books, movies or well, games. That is however only so far no problem as we talk about games that are cleary designed for such entertainment. But when you take a game like Fallout 1 and turning it's design upside down and changing it to a shooter, than I think the kind of hostility it gets by the people that love the experience that you get from the old games, is not really surpring now.

Damn right, i suspected that these people were a bunch of haters for over 7 years, but now it has officially been proven.
