Looks any better than the ones of from the first set. Go ahead.

I don't mean this one. The one you show now is from the first sets.

Nope, that image is from the last set, check the first post.

Also look at the textures on the shotgun and hands.

I don't know what you are expecting. But the graphics from the newest posts look amazing to me and just as i expected. Certainly not worse than any other open world game out there.

As I said, they look better in the last set because they are in low light envirorments, which tends to help 3D graphics a lot. The ones on the first set look that bad because of the absence of Shadows and Ambient occlusion, which is much more aparent in well lit envirorments.

Those windows look way too pristine. I know I am being nitpicky but would a little wear and tear be too much to ask for. I mean it is 210 years after the Great War, things like pre-war buildings shouldn't look new.

It looks the same because it is from the same person. I'm not entirely sure what was confusing about my post. Your first two sets are from one individual, the third set - with the clearly better capture quality - are from another individual who posted them on NeoGAF.

Even though it's from the third set, it looks identical to the picture in the first set. As in every single physical way, from lighting to the angle. I think it was reposted from the first set to the third one by accident.

The soda machines for example in one of the screenshots look pretty damn new. Well the same could be said about almost everything. Besides glass loses its integrity so to speak over time(I know this since my late great grandmother's house we took in our possession had never had the windows replaced, they are over fifty years old and my father accidently broke one without effort).

Opinion, I would guess.

Are the graphics an improvement over Fallout 3? Absolutely. Probably even over Skyrim, at least what I have seen so far. Though, to be honest, if you get the correct mods Skyrim can look better than what you can see for Fallout 4 so far.

But looking at the details, and that is the issue, you could argue that there are a lot of smaller issues here and there. Like as many already mentioned the textures. I would also say that there are objects with varying quality, no clue if that comes from the meshes or the gamebyro engine etc. But I feel that other games did an overall better job, even if they are graphicaly comparable, like the Witcher 3 which was also mentioned a couple of times. It is the same as with Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim. You look at some parts, and it can be pretty amazing even, than you get to other parts and it really isn't that impressive anymore.

I would describe Fallout 4 visualy as average for this day and age. I mean even Bethesda said so much, that their aim was not to create the next bench-mark-test.

Honestly I am more interested in how they will actually utilize lighting - we sadly havn't seen enough of that to be honest. Or the animations. Those are in my opinion a lot more important. Very good lighting can compensate for a lot of shortcomings! And realistic and well done animations give you a feeling of authenticity, the moment the NPCs start to behave like rubber dolls you get the uncany valley issue. And even the best photo realistic visuals will not help you if that happens. Remember what some of the biggest criticism are with Beth games as fas the visuals are concerned, facial expressions, animation, AI and lightning/textures. And those are some of the most frequently used mods with their games.

I have seen a lot of visual and graphics mods for Skyrim that make it look much better then Fallout 4. With what I have seen from the facial expressions it leaves little to be desired. I have seen mannequins show better facial expression then with what I have seen from Fallout 4. I have a feeling Fallout 4 is going to fall into the same category as Skyrim, a over-hyped, bland and forgettable game made playable by the modding community and Bethesda instead of being criticized for this will instead get loads upon loads of praises from mainstream "critics" and "journalist" as well as from fanboys.

You can bet just about every reviewer and critic will give it a 9.5-10/10 with "Critically acclaimed writing of the year!" and "It's so graphically impressive it looks better than every game out this year including The Witcher 3!".
I'm feeling really bitter tonight. :P

Ah, new shots...they look nice. Nothing special or too lackluster.

URGH!!! Would game developers stop locking their games at 30 fps?! Its really annoying.:irked:

That the negative tradeoff for that kind of graphical output, especially for consoles that can't handle games like these running at 60 FPS.

That's right. I forgot that many of these game developers are at the mercy of console companies like Microsoft and Sony and that console gamers are their main target audience. The priorities and satisfaction of console gamers comes first. Everyone else goes on the back burner.

And all the critics and tens of millions of customers are wrong?

You need to understand that with most "critics" you need to take what they say with a grain of salt. Gaming journalism is one of the most corrupt professions right now. With all the dirty dealings and bribery that goes on in gaming journalism and the video game industry it would make even a politician blush. With customers, well that depends if the customer is a raving fanboy who is going to gives his favorite video game developer a perfect score no matter what or someone who is grounded in reality.

Consoles probably can't handle more than 30. I'm sure PC is 60 though.

Didnt you hear, Bethesda is fighting for equal quality both on consoles and pc. I wouldnt be surprised if something goes wrong during launch and pc players get a game locked to 30 fps for a some time.
