Fallout 4 "The Wanderer" trailer

I would prefer they make sense and add some green. Like Last of Us. Someone made a mod for FO3 that added green and foliage/trees everywhere back in the day, you know, since Beth didn't. I can't imagine how long it would take to make something like that for FO4.

Anyways, as far as trailers go - it was 'ok' but just kind of shrugworthy.

Now these trailers made me pumped for Witcher 3. CD Projekt is good about building a story and a world, and showing you the kernels of an epic story to explore:

Also CD Projekt is masterful when it comes to treating source material with respect, as someone whom has read the Witcher books. Their games are the best 'extended universe' book-to-game stuff I've ever played. Beth on the otherand, I don't think treated their source that well.

I'm talking about the guy who was bitching about the live action trailer. Its just a trailer thats not meant to be taken 100% seriously and people are somehow offended by it cause "its trying to be cool"
Interpretation doesn't seem to be your strong suit. By making a trailer with "a guy looking cool" Bethesda sends a message, it shows their priorities. For Bethesda "the rule of cool" is the highest tenet, the ultimate law of their very "creative" process. To them "cool" is what matters and it shows. That's why people pick on the trailer, because it reinforces what we already know about what Bethesda wants to do and it's something people around here don't like much. And since we live in a free world, we have the right to voice our points of view.

Its apparent that Bethesda wants this game to sale more or the same as Skyrim. That is why their showing mostly all combat,(which looks fun) so they can get more FPS fans to jump on board to Fallout.I think its smart...Kudos Bethesda!

"That thing on your wrist - it's a convenience. It tells you where to go, what to do, dulls your brain. It may have helped you find the Sierra Madre broadcast, but it's just as much a crutch today as it was in the Old World."

Father Elijah was right, man....

A bit off topic, What did he really mean by that? I get that it prevents cunning/creativity. Does Father Elijah more of a harden techno fanatic than the chapter in the Mojave waste? As in wouldn't he give it more praise than it's con? I don't know, I think i'm looking too into it. It's not that big of an issue. I'm just trying to collect others thoughts on this.

It's implying linear levels in Dead Money and open world level in Old World Blues. You don't have to be a mad genius to think.

Except ... that you can do both. See Witcher 3 and all the content they have shown. Which was not only about Combat. But ... well the Witcher has a completely different design behind their game. They actually want to make an RPG. Action RPG, but still RPG, where as Beth makes mostly cave simulators.

I would not be surprised if CD Project Reds version of Pete Hines actually takes pride in the writing of his company.

What's worst, is apparently people who never heard of Fallout or played it have no fucking idea what the video is representing. If this video is supposed to broadcast to a wider audience, then they dropped the ball hard.

Watch the trailer again from start to finish, it tells enough that someone who likes that stuff will at least be interested enough to search further about it.

THey didn't drop the ball if they just wanted to attract the wider audience, it's BANG BANG BOOM SPLOSHUNZ! POWER ARMOR! That's enough to attract the attention of like 90% of gamers,

I must've read the 10% comments XD Some of them were like: I don't understand what this is supposed to represent...aliens? Robots? What?

And what exactly is in the trailer that tells you this is an RPG with moraly gray choices and concequences in your opinion? The point is, if someone who has never heard about Fallout in any way form or shape watching the trailer could easily mistake it for the next Call of Duty game. And I think that is intentional. What ever if that is now a good thing or not is a different question. But the point that you can hardly tell what this trailer is about, except that it is a first person shooter of some kind, is a fair point.

I mean we can sure argue about the quality of the trailer ... but not so much about the way how it sets the tone. Don't piss in my pocket and tell me it's raining.

It also show that it happens after a nuclear war of some kind (also with weird technology, first you show us an advanced robot and then an old-ass car? how weird!)

It also shows that it's heavily based on exploration.

Also of course it wouldn't show any RPG stuff it's a pure live action hype trailer lol. It's supposed to hook in that initial interest (presumably this person who never heard about Fallout before would try searching for a gameplay trailer then)

Gameplay trailers of MORE combat.

So far, combat is the main aim... which is boring. For me combat isn't something I like in a game. Why is it always about combat?

So why make a GOOD and WELL-written RPG when we can have more explushans and shooting thingz?

Fallout 4 is going to be a good RPG, definitely not the best, but the other qualities will more than make up for it

What other qualities? The combat? Better shooters which have better combat so no. The exploration? Doubt it, unless looking for loot and walking around fighting enemies is your thing, so not really no.

Story? HAHAHAHAAHA!!! Knowing Bethesda and Emil? No.

Writing? Nup! Same reason above!

Holy shit, that Piper dialogue is fucking HORRIBLE. No wonder they haven't shown us shit, they know it's fucking awful. lmao

Just watched it and yeah, it's laughably bad. Boston may be famous in terms of the American Revolution and the push for independence from Great Britain, but that bit with Piper was a bit too on the nose about it.

I wonder how many of you that are eating this shit up have actually played some of the classic RPG's of yore? Looking for things to bitch about? You don't have to over analyze this garbage to find flaws. For those of you that were still shitting your pants when Fallout 1 and 2 came out, there is probably a pretty good chance that you are a modernized gamer who shovels AAA annualized fecal matter down your throat while washing it down with Todd Howard's hot load. Unless by some miracle you were introduced to good RPG's later on and they happened to click with you.

Planescape? Too many words.

Baldur's Gate? Is that those old games Bioware made before Mass Effect and Dragon Age?

Fallout 1 and 2? So outdated and buggy and turn based combat breaks my immersion.

Arcanum, Jagged Alliance, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Might and Magic, Gothic, you know what? Just look at this link. There are too many to list.

If your RPG of choice isn't on that list then you should reconsider if it has any fucking depth to it at all. If you are impressed by what little they have shown from Fallout 4 you are probably the kind of person who thinks Final Fantasy 7 is the best RPG of all time, or that Oblivion is really when Bethesda started to make good games. By all means keep living your illusion that Bethesda games are the best and we are hating on them simply because they are different from the old games. This isn't a knock against JRPG's either. They are great for what they are, but you aren't exactly rolling in choices in games like that.

Same with Bethesda games. They are more akin to dungeon crawlers with limited dialog options and gimped skill systems - if the skills are there at all. Not to mention the style of RPG where you can do everything in one playthrough no matter what skills you pick. You are the hero of the Fighters Guild, Thieves Guild, Mages Guild, a Vampire, a Dragon Rider, a Werewolf, or even a Vampire hunter.

Gee I'm lost and don't know where to go. Glad I have this white arrow showing me what the fuck I need to do next. Thank God I didn't have to use my brain and follow directions and search for clues. Man I hate when my companions die since Bethesda's AI is crap so why not make them immortal? People really hated it in Morrowind when you could kill a guy that was vital to the main quest, so now nothing can truly die!

By all means reply with some clever retort that you think has never been said before, but use that pink matter inside your skull and wonder if you are part of the problem.
