Ok, cheers

This explains one or two things, but you posted all the info out of it on your site, so there's no need for a seperate newspost. Ok, I see what you're saying now.

For our newsreaders: I can't say anything definite about this yet either. Let's wait for one of the BIS former devs to post about this and then we'll know where we stand. Don't draw any hasty conclusions 'till then, we're in the unclear.

It isent my site. newz.dk is just a need site, where people submit all kinds of news that they find fit it. Then some moderators go through it, and select that get posted.. its those who fucked the stuff up i wrote.. they also forgot some other stuff that i wrote.. Oh well :D Should probaly had posted it a few days earlyer than i did...

Interesting, very interesting indeed! Im trying extreamly hard not to let this get my hopes up though... However, it does make sence to some extent. From a business perspective it may be profitable.

At the very least it willl sell 15,000 copies based soley on the "hardcore" fans.

$49.00 * 15,000 = $735,000

Plus "passive" fans of about 50,000 im guessing?

$49.00 * 50,000 = $2,450,000

Plus, say, 100,000 new fans (taken in by all the great reviews its sure to get :D )

$49.00 * 100,000 = $4,900,000

Total = $8,085,000

Oh, and dont forget the expansion pack the developers can use to further milk all us hardcore guys.

Say maybe 50,000 people would by the expansion pack for $29.00.

$29.00 * 50,000 = $1,450,000

Yeah well my estamits are based on pretty much nothing.... Someone who knows the gaming industry better then me can figure out some better numbers.

That may be, but then you have to subtract:

Development costs
Salaries/workspace/electricity
Packaging
Profit is always a nice thing :D

Again, I've got NO numbers for these as I'm not in the development world.

I would imagine that would eat away alot of that dough.

Well if the game was already 50% finished as I heard some people say, I'd be pretty positive that it would sell well enough to cover the remaining half of development costs + publishing... Especially if it was a quality game, all the game magazines would go crazy over it from the anticipation and reputation of the franchise, and give lots of free press to draw in the 'non-hardcore' Fallout player.

Yip

But there was no money to finish it. And Iplay was not inte position to loan more money

It's a bitch, and their own fault, but...

Good points. Old negative seems to think they'd have to start over from scratch.

I want to be positive (Lord knows I do), but I don't want to be disappointed again. This last time hurt worse then I would have thought, especially after seeing the screenies, and hearing some of the plot line.

where did you read some of the plot lines? ...

From my "What might have been" document I'm saving all this stuff into.

... it wasn't the Brotherhood of Steel holding the PC prisoner. It had to do with a pre-war government quarantine protocol that was still being executed after the bombs fell. And, the PC could not start in multiple locations. However, like in the previous games, the PC was free to go wherever he wanted when he wanted from the onset

any plans in making that document public or am i overseeing it?...

does sound interesing though.. could hope somehow Fallout3 will come..

I doubt IP would let anything else out without landing on the person like a ton of bricks.

And if it does come to pass we actually DO get to see it be distributed... I'd rather keep the surprise...

Oh well.. wish i could tell you more.. but i cant ... better just keep my mouth shot for a few days :)

Kinda magnifies kumquat's post about Titus' questionable business practices against Interplay...

But then they still chose to can the F3 team instead of the FO:BOS team, so they'll get no sympathy from me...

Please let this happen........PLEASE

I hope some BIS guys come on here and let us know, I can't wait for some good news.......PLEASE

If not, I would still love to see SS come through and pick it up if this turns out that this is not true. It is goof to know that the BIS guys pick it up SS will support them.

GO BIS guys, Do it!

It seems that there's A LOT of information that people already know that I guess they're not supposed to tell us, but probably will eventually anyway. It looks like we'll just have to keep watch in the coming days for any snippets of information to keep our hopes alive.

It's only been a few days, unfortunately, it's goes to take a while to figure it all out, and see what's even possible, let alone done.

Waiting game has begun

I don't think we'll have to wait too long.
If they do get it, I'm sure it will be announced. (disclaimer: Guess only) They just don't seem the type to keep us hanging.

That's what makes me think this might have a weird sort of chance. It's really a unique situation. IPY has already made a significant investment in the engine and to a lesser extent the game. So they end up scraping it and writing it off. It seems more or less accepted that any given outside house couldn't just pick up where they left off or even use the Jefferson engine and make it worth while. There are just too many technical problems, too much tribal knowledge involved. There's just no way for them to recoup this investment. Then all of a sudden the only people qualified to take this lump of shit and turn it into gold offer to take it off their hands. So this a chance for them to see some return on their investment, or to look at it another way it's a chance to put a game on the shelves for 1/2 the investment it would normally take. So there has to be some incentive there.

Maybe we could be of assistance . . .

If Iplay could sell the rights, than a BIS core could perhaps buy it if they had enough capital.

If IPLY is really looking to sell the license, perhaps we as a dedicated fan community could do something to help out here.

Looking at the things that Penny Arcade was able to accomplish with their christmas charity drive, perhaps we could do something similar.

The BIS people could set up some sort of PayPal account that we fallout fans could contribute to to help raise money to help Black Isle buy Fallout away from Interplay.

I'm not saying that we could raise the whole amount of the funds that would be necessary to buy the license, but with a fanbase this rabid, dedicated, and downright desperate for an actual good sequel, we should at least be able to raise six figures to help Black Isle attempt to purchase the license.

It would be worth $20 to me anyway . . .

If any of you moderators know any of the people involved in this, run this idea by them. It just could work.
