First Impression of Fallout 4

I hope map is 4 times bigger than Fallout 3 too but I really really doubt it considering what they did with Skyrim. This game even has Skyrim's loading screen with random animal/objects found in the game.

@generalissimofurioso There were concept arts for underwater segments I think.

Funny, from that perk chart it would seem that Melee and Unarmed "builds" don't even need or benefit from half of the Strenght perks... Why does Gun bashing require more strenght than using Heavy Weapons?

Please, are you trying to apply logic to bethesda designs? It's completely futile. The very fact, that there are any perks for stats of level 1-3 is laughable.

Seriously, unless you want to tackle people a melee build shouldn't even be assed about having any stat at 10...

It's amazing to me that since Bethesda's whole schtick is "power fantasy" that they don't enable melee/unarmed builds to empower the player to pretend like they're Jet Li or Gordon Liu ... or even Chuck Norris.

A moment of silence for Cheme Lez Fare and Confirmed Bachelor, Oh, Black Widow too.

Yeah, it seems like a male character is the canon for Bethesda games. That would explain their whole fascination with the father/son trope.

Melee/Unarmed Builds will consist of getting bored of your melee build because not even a tenth of the perks are usefull at all.

DADSON, I CARE ABOUT YOU SO MUCH.

SONDAD, I FORGIVE YOU FOR RUNNING AWAY.

One of the worst moments in all of FO3 is when you first talk to Three Dog, and all you got to choose between is some fuck-off-type of reply - OR - "i miss my daddy so much!"

I think I sat for a whole minute just staring at that, with anger, before relenting to the latter pussy-ass reply, because I figured it was the one that would take me forward.
In retrospect, I realize neither option would do much to or fro...

In retroretrospect, maybe the two replies granted like either 1 000 karma or negative 1 000

Have you seen my dad? Middle-aged guy.

Mele Build: Iron fist, Big leagues, Blacksmith, Armorer, Toughness, refractor, Life giver, Moving target, Ninja, Action Boy, Blitz, rooted and pain Train. 13 Level ups and you will already have the only perks that will help you. Obviously forcing you to pick filler perks between the ranks that require the higher level ups.

The 2 perks that up melee and unarmed damage are at ranks 1 and 2...

It makes *some* sense to have the combat perks/skill have such a low requirements. If, say, you want to make an agile character because you love VATS but don't want to make a firearm character you'd have to decide wether you want the Stat or the Skill, or gimp every other SPECIAL stat to boost Agility and Strength.

Of course since you can raise your SPECIAL at will this is kind of pointless.

To be fair to max those perks you'd need 46 level ups, plus a dozen of extra SPECIAL points.

From gameplay point of view, yes. From logical one? hell no. 5 SPECIAL points is "average". Anything below is weak/terrible and so on. Why would a very weak person be able to do a lot of damage in HtH? Makes. No. Sense.

Nope, you would only need 3 SPECIAL trainning points to have those perks, and that is if you want to have the Lone Wonderer perk in addition; and with Bobbleheads being in the game you won't even need to waste that many level ups on those Rank zero perks either.
Yeah you will need to get to level 46 or higher to get some of the max rank ones which is why you will end up having to pick filler perks sooner rather than later.

Also the issue of "I don't want to make a gun character but the AG tree is mostly for them and I want some AG perks" is born out of their own stupid dumbing down of the perk system, with making a single perk be THE PERK of that Stat level, which is fucking retarded, game design wise and logic wise too. I mean, Heavy Gunner is the level 5 perk of ST, but Gun basher is the level 7 one? I need more strength to bash someone with my pistol hard than I need to shoot straight with a Minigun or Missile Launcher?

This new system just created more problems that didn't even exist before while removing the flexiility of the old system and fixing NONE of the issue it had.... And that is called a BAD DESIGN.
