First Impression of Fallout 4

Ugh like the Thieve's Guild "Run across the province, run behind generic NPC #241, and take a gem he has spawned into his pocket.". Those quests are so much fun that they make me want to bash my head into my keyboard repeatedly from all the tedium.

Yay, endless repetetive dull shit is good for you!

Lets not forget that Beth pretty much FORCED you to join the Thieves Guild and made them and their obnoxious cash cow Maven Black-Briar unkillable.(Guess what were the first mods I downloaded for Skyrim were.) I imagine that the factions will be just like that or similar in Fallout 4.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic if you didn't know. :P

No I know, my response was continuing in that manner.

Yeah that guy would force initiate dialogue and follow you around. Maven was a real bitch to everyone, excuse my language.

Thank God for mods! Especially the Thieves Guild Requirements mods and any mod that makes Maven unessential so I can bash her head in with a war hammer. :newevil: Although it looks like we will be limited in terms of mods this time around. :-(

Can't you use the Creation Kit to make a custom plugin to set her unessential?

Yes you can.

Yes but I believe that she has scripts tied to her and I know very little of scripting in the Creation Kit. Should teach myself about it and what not.

I don't think anything bad would happen as I set that drunk (brother of the 2nd in command of the Stormcloaks) unessential with the in-game console and murdered the bastard without any problems.

Again (the part that keeps getting ignored) they introduced the same armor that looks nearly 100% identical and it DOESN'T trigger getting shot. So clearly Obsidian saw the need for the change there and they did it. Otherwise the Riot set should have you identified as NCR based on looking the same, but because it's a video game it's not, which is fine.

Or maybe because a lot of people complained not being able to use those sweet armors without consequences. In vanilla 1.0 New Vegas the only factionless T-51b available (which was also the only faction-less faction armor in the game IIRC) was located in the Deathclaw Sanctuary. After a couple of patches you could BUY them. Gee, I wonder why!

Don't forget that people were pissed that they couldn't wear the NCR Ranger Armor without consequences until they added factionless ones in Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road. Again, I wonder why.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't jSawyer mod add faction flags to those armors that should have had them but didn't? This means, that the lead designer of the game wanted it that way, but couldn't do it for whatever reasons.

Because it got in the way of the power fantasy. Everybody wanted to be McBadAss wearing either the Ranger Armor or Brotherhood Power Armor but couldn't because of faction penalties. "What do you mean that the Legion wouldn't be happy if a guy wearing NCR Ranger armor walked into their camp?! That is absurd!"

So ignoring the clusterfuck that was before is it a good idea for Obsidian to continue using the disguise system in their future Fallout games if some people apparently can't grasp it?

Just like how they had to patch in an automatic System save file to be created when you start the Battle of Hoover Dam because people kept ignoring the 3 "SAVE THE GAME NOW BEFORE PROCEEDING" prompts.

I think the reason for including endless procedural quests with no context and minimal benefit is simply to eventually get the player to ask "why am I doing this?" and go and so something else since at this point they've played the game enough. It's better than level caps since people complain about those, and they don't learn anything.

The more I read this post the more I realize fanbases need to burn in hell. Fuck fans, they have no idea what they want or what makes a quality product. They're the ones responsible for that Tumblr pandering shitfest known as "Legend of Korra".
